This year's Hajj not only concluded a sacred spiritual journey for millions but also marked the final chapter of the pilgrimage's long association with searing summer temperatures.
According to Hussein Al-Qahtani, spokesperson for Saudi Arabia's National Center for Meteorology (NCM), Hajj will not return to the summer season for another 25 years.
In the meantime, the next eight pilgrimages will occur in the spring, followed by eight in winter and several more in autumn, as the Islamic lunar calendar gradually shifts the dates earlier each year. 'This natural cycle offers pilgrims a rare opportunity to perform Hajj in much cooler and more comfortable conditions for the foreseeable future,' Al-Qahtani explained.
This year, temperatures reached 42°C (108°F) — significantly lower than the dangerous 51.8°C (125°F) recorded in 2024, which severely affected pilgrims, especially those without permits. That year, more than 1.8 million Muslims participated, with quotas distributed by country and assigned through a lottery system.

Emergency Siren Test Across Bahrain On Tuesday Morning

The Civil Defense has announced that a test of emergency sirens will take place across Bahrain tomorrow 17th June (Tuesday) at 9:00 AM. This is just a routine test to make sure the sirens are working properly and can be heard by as many people as possible. There is no need to worry. Major Hamad Sabah Al-Sowa'ar, head of Crisis and Disaster Management, explained that this drill is part of the government's plan to stay ready for any emergency. He said the Ministry of Interior is working closely with the public to help everyone respond calmly and safely in case of real emergencies. The siren will sound twice: The first siren is a warning to go indoors and stay away from open areas. Wait for an official update. The second siren means everything is safe again. Major Al-Sowa'ar encouraged everyone to learn how to respond when they hear a siren. Helpful tips and instructions are available on the National Civil Protection Platform online. This test is part of Bahrain's efforts to stay prepared and keep everyone safe.

Citizens and residents who witness any violations of the midday work ban are urged to report them via the dedicated hotline: 32265727.
