Martin, who was acquired by Golden State in the expansion draft, posted a few pictures on Instagram to express her excitement for the latest chapter in her young career.

Their former teammate on the Hawkeyes, Gabbie Marshall, also expressed her support for the 24-year-old Martin with a lighthearted comment.
"You so toot 😍," said Marshall.
"Toot is crazy😂 love you," replied Martin.
The two playmakers spent five seasons together at Iowa, winning three straight Big Ten titles and appearing in back-to-back national title games in the women's NCAA Tournament. Clark, meanwhile, played four seasons with them.

They have all remained close despite parting ways after college. While Clark and Martin went to the WNBA, Marshall decided to retire from basketball to pursue graduate school at North Carolina.
Martin, meanwhile, is eager to play a much bigger role with the Valkyries. She saw limited minutes during her rookie season with the Las Vegas Aces, only averaging 2.6 points and 1.6 rebounds in 11.5 minutes per game.
Golden State split its two preseason games. After beating the Phoenix Mercury, the team lost to the Sparks, 83-82. Martin put up eight points, three rebounds and two steals in 18 minutes off the bench.

Indiana Fever React to Caitlin Clark News on Friday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Indiana Fever continue to be one of the most exciting teams in the WNBA, behind the leadership of Caitlin Clark. Advertisement All eyes have been on the Fever over the past two seasons. The emergence of Clark has turned Indiana into a fan-favorite team in the WNBA landscape. This was evident with the WNBA's latest announcement about the upcoming All-Star game in Indianapolis. The WNBA announced that Caitlin Clark leads all players in fan votes, ranked ahead of some of the biggest stars in the league, such as A'ja Wilson, Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart. Indiana also highlighted three other Fever stars who are in the Top 10 in WNBA All-Star voting: Kelsey Mitchell, Aliyah Boston and Lexie Hull. "4 in the Top 10," posted the official social media account of the Indiana Fever. "Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston, Kelsey Mitchell, and Lexie Hull are all in the Top 10 in the first round of #WNBAAllStar2025 fan vote returns! keep voting to make them All-Stars in Indy!" In her second season with the Indiana Fever, Caitlin Clark has posted 19.9 points, 5.7 rebounds and 8.7 assists per game. Advertisement Kelsey Mitchell serves as the Fever's second-leading scorer with 17.1 points per game. Aliyah Boston leads the team with 8.1 rebounds per game and Lexie Hull serves as the team's sharpshooter, leading all players with a 56.3 three-point percentage. WNBA Announces Frustrating Brittney Griner News on Friday

WNBA Announces Frustrating Brittney Griner News on Friday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The WNBA announced the latest All-Star voting results and several stars have some work to do in order to snag the prestigious honor. Fans will be watching to see how the final voting results shake out ahead of the WNBA All-Star Game on July 19. Advertisement One of the major questions is whether Atlanta Dream center Brittney Griner will be playing in the game. The WNBA All-Star Game will take place in Indianapolis, Ind., at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, home of the Fever and Pacers. Angel Reese is among the notable players outside the top-10 in WNBA All-Star votes. Reese sits at No. 13 with a little more than 173,000 votes. It is no surprise that Caitlin Clark leads all players with more than 500,000 votes. Atlanta Dream center Brittney Griner (42) reacts while answering questions on the court before the game against the Indiana Fever at Gateway Center Arena at College Zanine-Imagn Images Despite having an 8-4 record, the Dream are not highly represented in the early voting results. Atlanta does not have a player in the top-10 with Allisha Gray leading the way for the Dream at No. 14 with a little more than 168,000 votes. Griner is in danger of missing the WNBA All-Star Game as the Dream veteran is not listed among the top 30 players in the early voting. The Atlanta center is a 9-time All-Star and earned the honor her last two seasons with the Phoenix Mercury. Part of the challenge is Griner is on pace to have her worst statistical WNBA season despite the Dream having success on the court. Griner is averaging a career-low 10.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game in her first 10 appearances with Atlanta in 2025. Advertisement The WNBA announced Griner sits at No. 37 with 57,308 votes. Griner and the other Dream players will be subject to a detailed WNBA voting process which include more than simply fans' results. "After all votes are tallied, players will be ranked by position (guard and frontcourt) within each of the three voting groups – fan votes, player votes and media votes," the WNBA detailed in a press release on Friday. "Each player's score will be calculated by averaging the weighted rank from the fan votes, the player votes and the media votes. The four guards and six frontcourt players with the best score will be named as starters for AT&T WNBA All-Star 2025. Fan voting will serve as the tiebreaker for players in a position group with the same score. "After the starters have been determined, the league's head coaches will select the 12 reserves. The head coaches will vote for three guards, five frontcourt players and four players at either position regardless of conference. " Advertisement Fans have until June 28 to vote for Griner and other WNBA stars.
