A conversation surrounding Jalen Hurts and his ranking as a top athlete in the city of Philadelphia riled up the Philadelphia Eagles fan base this past week.
As a local sports radio station, 94WIP, ranked the top 11 athletes in the market, one host shocked many when Hurts was left off the list. Despite the Pro Bowl quarterback leading his team to a Super Bowl victory and being named the game's MVP just a few months back, Hurts couldn't win over everybody.
Not everybody at the station agreed that Hurts should've been left out of the mix. However, a further discussion about whether Hurts' 2024 NFL season was good or great took place on the airwaves earlier this week. When asked the simple question, former Eagles defensive lineman Hugh Douglas took the latter stance.
"Jalen didn't start out the season the way we wanted him to. He probably didn't start out the season the way he wanted to, but as the season progressed, Jalen evolved," said the former first-round pick.

"Jalen did what was necessary. It didn't always look pretty, but he got the job done. He was the right man for the job, and he got the job done. So, when you ask me that question in its entirety, 'How was Jalen's season?' I would say it was great. The reason why I would say it was great is because he won the ultimate prize. He won the Super Bowl. He got his team to the Super Bowl, and he was able to win it."

Looking at the simple numbers, Hurts had his least-productive passing year outside of his rookie season. The veteran quarterback threw for 2,903 yards. He tossed 18 touchdowns and just five interceptions.
In the three years leading up to the 2024 NFL season, Hurts averaged 477 passes per season. Last year, he threw just 361 times. Some might use that as an argument to say the Eagles threw less because Hurts couldn't be relied on as much in the passing game. However, it was his most accurate passing year, completing 69 percent of his passes.
While key members of the Eagles' offense admitted that the passing game could use some work throughout the year, it was also not utilized as much due to the presence of the MVP-caliber running back, Saquon Barkley. With Barkley putting together a record-breaking season, the Eagles took advantage of his presence. Sometimes, it came at the expense of Hurts' passing.
Douglas, a former Pro Bowler, views Hurts' 2024 campaign as a great one. It's not a take that everybody agrees with, but he makes a valid point.

On the latest episode of the "New Heights" podcast, hosted by Travis and Jason Kelce, the special guest was none other than NBA legend and current ESPN analyst Shaquille O'Neal. With three big personalities in one room, the conversation was entertaining, unpredictable, full of laughter, candid moments and off-the-wall stories. Advertisement Shaq, never one to hold back, brought his signature humor and larger-than-life presence to the show. The trio talked about everything from their playing careers and media work to behind-the-scenes moments and a shared love for music. But two highlights stole the spotlight: Travis asking O'Neal for DJ advice so he could one day open for his girlfriend, Taylor Swift. Travis didn't hold back when he asked the four-time NBA champion. "You go to get me on the DJ booth, you got to teach me your ways, dog." O'Neal, known in music circles as DJ Diesel, replied: "I got you. I got you. You know what's crazy? You open up for your girlfriend and you'll be a [expletive] star." Advertisement That had both Kelce brothers cracking up, especially Travis, who added, "You know I'm a hype man. You know I'm a hype man. I'll have Swifties bouncing off the wall before Tay gets out there." Travis Kelce Reveals Taylor Swift Plan to Jason Kelce
Travis Kelce Reveals Taylor Swift Plan to Jason Kelce originally appeared on Athlon Sports. You never quite know what you're going to get when it comes to Jason and Travis Kelce's podcast, "New Heights." Episode 143 just dropped, and it was full of entertaining moments from the always-engaging brothers. Advertisement Last week, Travis and his girlfriend Taylor Swift made headlines for attending Game 4 of the Stanley Cup finals in Sunrise, Florida. Although Edmonton won that game, Florida clinched the series on Tuesday night. On the podcast, the Kelces talked briefly about their recent travels, but one standout moment was Travis sharing his thoughts on underrated movies. His pick? "Pretty Woman" starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. He mentioned that he and Taylor have been meaning to watch it. 'That's been on me and Tay's movie list for a while.' The episode had plenty more to offer, including a fun segment where their mom joined the cast of the reality show "Traitors." The three-time Super Bowl champion also made 10 Pro Bowl appearances. Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Biggerstaff-Imagn Images There had been some speculation about his football future following the Chiefs' Super Bowl LIX loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, but Travis confirmed he'll be back for another run. Here's what he said about returning. "I think the biggest thing is that I [expletive] love playing the game of football. I love playing. I still feel like I can play it at a high level and possibly at a higher level than I did last year. I don't think it was my best outing." he said. Advertisement "I think I let my guys down in a lot more moments than I helped them, especially if you look at my track record and how I've been in years past. I want to give it a good run. I got a bad taste in my mouth in how I ended last year, and how well I was playing and how accountable I was to the people around me." Kansas City opens its preseason schedule on Aug. 9 against the Arizona Cardinals. The regular season kicks off Sept. 5 in Brazil against the Los Angeles Chargers. Travis Kelce's Latest Commerical Appearances Catches Attention on Thursday
Travis Kelce's Latest Commerical Appearances Catches Attention on Thursday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Travis Kelce is everywhere these days. The Kansas City Chiefs' tight end is a staple on commercials, podcasts and red carpets. His relationship with Taylor Swift keeps him in the spotlight, but off the field, he's also become a savvy businessman with an eye for opportunity. Advertisement As he prepares for the 2025 NFL season, Kelce is diving deeper into business and branding. He's adding new investments, expanding existing partnerships, and staying top of mind through bold ventures. One of those ventures made headlines Thursday when Garage Beer released a short video featuring Kelce promoting their brand in classic, tongue-in-cheek style. The clip, titled 'Travis Kelce: Serious Business Guy,' shows him at the fictional 'Garage Beer HQ' typing furiously on a computer while narrating his thoughts on investing. 'People ask me about my investment all the time,' Kelce says in the clip. 'I tell them, just as I'm looking at the market go up and up and down just today.' Advertisement Then he pauses and delivers the punchline: 'One thing stays the Flavored Beer.' He laughed and said, 'That's the whole strategy.' This caught the attention of many online. "I love Beer flavored beer," said here. Another agreed: "We all love beer flavored Beer." This fan loved it: "And I can watch him watch the market go up and down up and down all day today." Added by this commenter: "Travis has such a great laugh!" "As someone who watches the market go up and down every day, I approve this message," mentioned by this fan. Another approval here: "and the Oscar goes to… great job Trav!" Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce (87).Stephen Lew-Imagn Images Garage Beer, based in Columbus, Ohio, was originally founded in Covington, Kentucky. The company has been independently owned since 2018 and takes a lighthearted approach to marketing. On their website, they describe their product like this: Advertisement 'Most beer brands use this space to tell you about their rich history, super secret brewing techniques, or how their founder had a vision of ancient yeast strains after getting lost in Europe. Our story? We just really like light beer. So we made one that we think brings you back to the way American light beer used to be made. And a lime one too.' They keep it simple. Their pitch: 95 calories, crisp, refreshing and proudly dubbed Beer Flavored Beer™. In June 2024, Travis and his brother Jason Kelce purchased a significant stake in Garage Beer, becoming its largest investors. This marked Travis's second venture into the alcohol space, following his involvement with Casa Azul Tequila Soda in February 2023. Kelce's expanding business interests reflect his growing presence beyond football. While he turns 36 midway through the 2025 season and has openly considered retirement in the past, he remains committed to the Chiefs, returning after their Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Advertisement Even while juggling football and business, Kelce finds time for community outreach. Last season, he helped donate 25,000 breakfast meals to those in need. His brand portfolio also includes deals with Nike, Dick's Sporting Goods, Papa John's and Old Spice. Whether it's food, fashion or fragrance, Kelce's influence continues to grow. From touchdowns to tequila, from Taylor Swift to Beer Flavored Beer, Travis Kelce is building a legacy that stretches well beyond the football field.
