Car slams into tailback on German motorway, injuring 14
At least 14 people were injured when a car ploughed into a German motorway tailback at high speed, slamming into five other cars in succession, police reported on Sunday.
The accident occurred at Odelzhausen to the north-west of Munich on Saturday at around 2:30 pm (1230 GMT). The A8 motorway was closed for several hours.
Three people, including a 15-year-old girl, suffered serious injuries and were helicoptered to hospital. The 49-year-old driver of the car causing the accident and 10 others were less seriously injured.
Police confiscated the man's licence. They said they still had to ascertain whether he had been fit to drive.

Teen driver killed after car flips during police pursuit in Lodi
Jun. 21—A 19-year-old man was killed when the car he was driving flipped during a police pursuit on Friday night in Lodi, according to the Lodi Police Department. At approximately 11:17 p.m., an officer observed a vehicle driving recklessly and endangering the public in the area of South Cherokee Lane and East Vine Street, according to police. The officer was in a marked police vehicle and activated their emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle. The vehicle continued driving recklessly and led the officer on a brief pursuit, police said. The suspect vehicle ultimately crashed and rolled over on its roof as it entered southbound Highway 99 at the on-ramp at Cherokee Lane and Century Boulevard. Officers located two occupants in the vehicle. The passenger was able to exit the vehicle and was taken to a local hospital where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries and released. The driver was still in the vehicle, and officers were able to get him out and render aid until Lodi Fire and AMR personnel arrived on scene. The man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver's name is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin. In accordance with the San Joaquin County Officer Incident Protocol, the investigation is being conducted by members of the Lodi Police Department, San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office, DOJ, and the San Joaquin County Medical Examiner's Office. The California Highway Patrol is conducting the fatal traffic collision investigation.
