Mob targeted in Edinburgh gang war recruit new enforcer to replace slain gangster

Yahoo8 hours ago

A mob caught up in the ongoing Edinburgh gang war have warned they have recruited a new enforcer.
A new group calling themselves the "A Team" recently hit back at those orchestrating a series of firebombings and shootings in Edinburgh and Glasgow and laughed-off recent incidents.
A number of chilling threats have been issued from the Daniel and Mark Richardson outfit on social media as they say a new enforcer has been recruited to replace slain Kevin "Gerbil" Carroll.

Earlier in the week they said "bullets win" and warned retribution was coming the way of Dubai-based gangster Ross McGill who is believed to be behind continuous attacks across the central belt.
As the Record reports, the threats have been issued in wake of the double-murder of Eddie Lyons Jnr and Ross Monaghan in Spain.
A message from the "A Team" told rival operatives: "You allegedly got rid of this man out of total fear. RIP, Gerbil. He would have terrorised you. A real soldier, like our new friend who has replaced him."
In a series of mocking posts they branded former Rangers "ultra" McGill a "keyboard gangster" who was engaged in "school boy" attacks via his TMJ gang.
Another message read: "Take your wannabe joke of a clan and come back when you are all man enough to handle stuff like men."
Feared Daniels enforcer Kevin "Gerbil" Carroll was gunned down in 2010 as he sat in the back seat of an Audi in the Asda car park in Robroyston. The son-in-law of mobster Jamie Daniel was known for kidnapping and torturing rival drug dealers in attacks dubbed "alien abductions".
Ross Monaghan was arrested over the shooting but was acquitted after a judge at the High Court in Glasgow ruled there was insufficient evidence to convict him.
William 'Buff' Paterson, 45, was later convicted of the murder in 2015 and sentenced to a minimum of 22 years in prison.
Earlier this week the Record revealed around a dozen senior members from the Daniel clan and Richardson mob had fled Scotland.
An underworld source said: "Nobody knows exactly where they have gone or how long for but most of them are believed to be in Dubai and the rest are in the Costa del Sol.

"The TMJ gang were watching closely and hoping to catch one of them out in the open but all of a sudden they just upped sticks and left."
The move came after Spanish cops blamed the double execution of Lyons Jnr and pal Ross Monaghan on "an internal member of the Daniel gang".
Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Houston said: "We have been assisting Spanish colleagues with their investigation into the fatal shootings in Fuengirola.
"We are not aware of any current evidence which suggests the deaths of these two men in Spain are linked to the recent criminal attacks in Scotland being investigated as part of Operation Portaledge."
Michael Riley, 44, appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court in connection with the shooting in Spain on Thursday. The total number of arrests in connection with the investigation Operation Portaledge is 48.

Fire tears through Edinburgh flat as residents evacuated and street sealed off

Edinburgh emergency services rushed to a residential area in the north west of the capital as a blaze tore through a flat. Police, the ambulance service and at least 25 firefighters responded to the incident at a block of flats on Gunnet Court, Muirhouse. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service received the call shortly before 11pm on Thursday night, June 19, and mobilised five pump appliances and a height vehicle. The height vehicle was used to extinguish the blaze as the firefighter could be seen spraying water into the flat while being elevated by the appliance while the whole apartment was engulfed in flames. The area, including Muirhouse View, was taped off by emergency services as several police cars could also be seen. It is understood residents were evacuated as a group of people could be seen standing behind a cordon watching on. The SFRS confirmed hero firefighters battled the blaze for three hours as they left at around 2am on Friday, June 20. A spokesperson said: "We received reports of a fire at a flat on Gunnet Court, at Muirhouse View, at 22.50 hours on Thursday, June 20. We mobilised five appliances and a height vehicle. "The fire on a third floor flat was extinguished and the last appliances left the scene at 2am. Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service were also in attendance." It is currently not known if there were any casualties. The Scottish Ambulance Service was approached for comment. Father of woman shot outside pub spreads message of hope with documentary

THE father of a woman who was shot outside a pub on Christmas Eve is hoping to spread a message of hope, with a documentary following his cross-country walk in the aftermath of her death. Tim Edwards, 53, joined actor John May in Worcester on his walk from Land's End to John O'Groats as part of a campaign to end gun and knife crime. Days after Elle Edwards was killed in a shooting outside the Lighthouse pub in Wallasey Village, Wirral, Mr Edwards got in touch with Mr May, initially aiming just to "get out of town," but ultimately accompanying him to the top of Scotland. Two years on, the documentary The Two Of Us will be screened at the Raindance Film Festival. "You'll see that when times get really tough, as long you keep going and you keep having that little bit of hope and a bit of strength behind you, and the willingness to carry on and never give up, then you will come out alright the other side," said Mr Edwards. "I've been through the worst hell you can imagine, there's not a lot else that could really turn me. "I can cope with the day-to-day now through those experiences of walking with John and walking through the country and being alone and having therapy and talking about your feelings." He completed the walk before the trial of Connor Chapman, who was targeting rival gang members when he opened fire outside the pub, and was sentenced to a minimum of 48 years after being found guilty. READ MORE: READ MORE: READ MORE: Throughout the walk, Mr Edwards said there were signs from his daughter - including a white dove which followed him as he walked around Ripon Cathedral one morning. "You grab on to different signs that you hope is Elle watching over you," he explained. "It was things like, there were always doves would randomly turn up or I'd be feeling a bit low and I'd be like 'give us a sign Elle will you, give me something to pick me up' and there'd always something random would appear." The film was nominated for best documentary feature and best UK cinematography awards at the Raindance festival. It is accompanied by music from composer Patrick Bennett, 20, who has created Elle's Theme, which plays throughout. Mr Edwards said the documentary is part of his aim to create a positive legacy for his daughter. "It was always about keeping Elle's name alive," he said. "So whenever Elle's name was mentioned, it would be mentioned in a positive way and not about what happened to her. That was the goal and still is, it will always be the goal."
