INS Arnala commissioned into Indian Navy in Visakhapatnam
New Delhi, June 18 (UNI) INS Arnala, the first of the Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Crafts, was commissioned into the Eastern Naval Command of the Indian Navy on Wednesday in the presence of General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff, at Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam.
Designed for a broad range of Anti-Submarine operations, INS Arnala is equipped to conduct sub-surface surveillance and interdiction, search and rescue missions; and Low-Intensity Maritime Operations (LIMO), a Defence Ministry statement said.
This 77-metre-long warship, with a gross tonnage of over 1490 tonnes, is the largest Indian Naval warship to be propelled by a diesel engine-waterjet combination.
The commissioning of INS Arnala not only reinforces India's defence capability but also highlights the triumph of indigenous design, engineering, and manufacturing.
As India continues its maritime journey toward greater self-reliance, INS Arnala stands as a proud symbol of national strength, industrial partnership and naval excellence.
In his address, the CDS underscored the Indian Navy's remarkable transition from a "Buyer's Navy" to a "Builder's Navy", highlighting this as the backbone of the country's Blue Water aspirations. With large number of ships currently under construction in India — including capital warships and auxiliaries - India has emerged as a formidable force in shipbuilding.
Indigenous warships now feature cutting-edge home-grown systems ranging from stealth technology to electronic warfare suites and advanced sensors significantly enhancing combat preparedness and progressively realising the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. The CDS commended the Indian Navy for the steadfast commitment to transforming strategic vision into tangible outcomes via the indigenous route.
The induction of INS Arnala, named after the historic coastal fort off Maharashtra, is a step in the direction of building naval capabilities in line with the force levels envisaged to meet the challenges of the future.

The violence began after Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) conducted raids on illegal migrants, escalating to a level where the US President Donald Trump called in the National Guard despite opposition from Newsom, who criticised the Republican for escalating the situation. Newsom was present at a wine-tasting charity event for nearly 90 minutes, the report quoted a person aware of the development. On the same day, Trump sent troops to control the violence. The report mentioned that the event included 'contemporary yet sophisticated' wines, live jazz music and local sources pizza and smash burgers. 'It's the perfect kick-off to summer fun,' it cited the promotional language of the event. Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Newsom clarified that he 'proudly attended' the annual fundraiser for the UCSF Cancer Centre in 'honour of his mother, who died of breast cancer,' the report said.

Iranian leader Ahmad Alamolhoda urges citizens to not be misled by Israel's ‘psychological warfare'
Tehran, June 20 (UNI) Ahmad Alamolhoda, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei's representative in Iran's northeastern province of Khorasan Razavi, said on Friday that Iranians should not be alarmed by the deaths of commanders, nuclear programme officials, or the loss of social assets, which he said was part of Israel's "psychological warfare", reports Iran International. 'The enemy wants to frighten us through psychological and military operations. Fear leads to weakness, but the people have not wavered,' he said during Friday prayers sermons. Echoing Khamenei's recent remarks about alleged 'Israeli psychological warfare', Alamolhoda called on citizens to continue their normal lives. 'Why should we evacuate cities? That's exactly what the enemy wants—to disrupt your daily lives so you abandon the field,' he said. Iran has been cracking down on cyberattacks in the country's cyberspace, restricting internet access, or altogether cutting it in certain parts, to tackle any 'misinformation'. Fatemeh Mohajerani, the spokesperson of the Iranian government, justifying the government action, said that the ongoing internet restrictions were implemented to protect citizens and counter cyberattacks amid what she described as 'psychological warfare and digital threats by Israel.' She said ministers are working around the clock with the president and key cabinet members inspecting infrastructure and public services on the ground. Authorities have meanwhile warned residents that national internet services could replace global access if necessary and urged citizens to rely solely on state media and domestic messaging apps for news. Mohajerani added that any perceived insult to the Supreme Leader would trigger a "widespread reaction" from the public.

HD Kumaraswamy practises yoga at Salem Steel Plant
Salem (TN), June 21 (UNI) Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, HD Kumaraswamy, participated in the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations held at the Salem Steel Plant. The Minister joined factory staff, their family members, senior officials, members of the Steel Authority of India (SAIL), and top officials from the Ministry of Steel in performing yoga. Under the guidance of yoga instructors, the Minister performed some key and simple asanas and pranayama at the Hill View Sports Ground located in Salem Township. Speaking on the occasion, Minister Kumaraswamy said, 'Yoga has been a way of life in India since ancient times. A practice once limited to India was brought onto the global stage by Prime Minister Narendra Modi after he took office eleven years ago. As a result, June 21 is now observed as International Yoga Day across the world. Full credit for this achievement goes to Prime Minister Modi.' 'I am very happy to have had the opportunity to participate in the Yoga Day celebration alongside the staff, officers, and their families at the Salem Steel Plant.
