Memphis Reporter OK After Being Carjacked in Company Car
A WREG reporter is OK after he was was carjacked at gunpoint at a gas station on Tuesday morning.
The Memphis CBS affiliate said it happened around 10:30 a.m. on a busy corner just about a mile east of WREG's studio and offices.
A man approached reporter Mike Suriani, who was working at the time, while he was at a gas pump. Suiriani got out of the station's white 2016 Toyota RAV4 when a man wearing a mask approached from the sidewalk and shouted to give him the car keys. The man had his hand on a gun that was sticking out of his pocket.
Suriani handed over the keys and the man drove off southbound on Third Street.
WREG said Suriani was unhurt.
The suspect got away with the Toyota and the camera gear inside. There was no WREG logo on the side, but the number 19 is on the bottom right bumper of the vehicle. The tag number is BHM 6360.

Hours long standoff in northern Colorado ends, suspect in custody
Police in northern Colorado have taken a suspect into custody after a standoff that lasted several hours Saturday afternoon. According to the Loveland Police Department, officers closed Boise Avenue in both directions near Silverleaf Drive due to an incident near Shadow Court around 2:26 p.m. Authorities said the suspect was "contained" inside the home but asked residents to remain inside while officers and SWAT members tried to resolve the situation. Teen driver killed in multi-car crash in Pompano Beach, Sheriff's Office says
A 16‑year‑old boy was killed Friday evening in a multi‑car crash in Pompano Beach, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office. The crash happened just before 8 p.m. in the 200 block of West Copans Road. A 2019 Mercedes‑Benz CLA 250, driven by a 16‑year‑old who has not been identified, was going west on Copans when a 2021 Toyota Sienna, driven by an 82‑year‑old man, was traveling south on Leisure Boulevard. As the Sienna attempted a left turn onto West Copans, it collided with the Mercedes, according to BSO. The impact caused the Mercedes to lose control and overturn. The car rolled onto its roof, slid across the roadway and crashed into a 2015 Lexus RX 350 traveling east. A 2021 Toyota RAV4, also going east, was struck by debris from the collision. Pompano Beach Fire Rescue arrived and took the occupants of the Mercedes and Lexus to a nearby hospital. The 16‑year‑old male was pronounced dead. Four other 17‑year‑old passengers in the Mercedes, who have not been identified, were also injured and taken to the hospital. The drivers of the Toyota Sienna and RAV4 remained on the scene and cooperated with authorities. They were not injured. Detectives say that excessive speed may have been a contributing factor in the crash, and the investigation is ongoing.

One person dies after head-on crash on I-435: KCPD
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A crash on I-435 near Cookingham Drive left one person dead Thursday evening, June 19, the Kansas City Police Department says. Police say that at around 6:30 p.m., a Toyota RAV4 was heading eastbound on I-435 near Cookingham Drive when the driver crossed the median and struck a semi-truck traveling westbound head-on. Lee's Summit IHOP workers say weeks have gone by without pay The driver of that RAV4 was ejected and died, and was the only occupant of the vehicle, according to police. While the driver of the semi-truck was reportedly unharmed, the collision ruptured the fuel tanks of the truck and caused the truck and trailer to become fully engulfed in flames, KCPD says. KCPD also said that at this time, the westbound lanes of I-435 remain closed. This is the 36th fatality compared to 48 at this time last year.
