Iowa football among final three schools for 2026 TE
Iowa football may be close to adding a talented tight end to its 2026 recruiting class.
Three-star tight end Preston Fryzel revealed on Wednesday that Iowa is among his final three schools alongside Notre Dame and Miami and that he will announce his collegiate commitment on June 23.
Fryzel is from Toledo, Ohio, and plays high school ball at Central Catholic. The Hawkeyes were the first of his final three schools to offer, as they did so on April 19, 2025.
Fryzel visited Miami to begin the month of June, visited Notre Dame on June 13 and has a visit scheduled with the Hawkeyes on June 20 before his decision date on June 23.
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound tight end posted great numbers in 2024, notching 43 receptions for 807 yards and 10 touchdowns. Fryzel helped lead Central Catholic to a 14-2 record and an appearance in the state championship game.

According to 247Sports, Fryzel is the No. 23 tight end and the No. 24 player from Ohio in the 2026 class. On3 ranks Fryzel as the No. 17 tight end and as the No. 19 player from Ohio.
Iowa is hoping that their visit with Fryzel will be enough to get the talented tight end to commit. If he does, Fryzel would be the 10th commit in the 2026 class.

That leads to Allen's current NFL record. 20-year-old prospects rarely enter the professional ranks, given the three-year requirement between high school graduation and NFL draft declaration. A player would need to enter college at 17, which Allen did, then perform well enough to declare before their senior season. Allen, who didn't turn 21 until January 20, was the only 20-year-old in the NFL last season. Thus, it should be no surprise that he is currently the league's all-time leader in rushing yards before the age of 21. Allen carried the football 92 times for 334 yards and two touchdowns as a rookie with the Jets in 2024, primarily operating as the backup to starter Breece Hall. Allen and Hall should continue to form a 1-2 punch for the Jets in 2025. The former Badger's league record should hold for some time. Moving forward, it will be interesting to watch whether he can surpass any other legendary name on this list. For reference, Ezekiel Elliott totaled an NFL-best 1,631 yards as a 21-year-old rookie in 2016. Allen would need a 1,300-yard output in 2025 to reach that mark. He is going to return to Syracuse this weekend, according to a report from 247Sports' Mike McAllister. Wilson has been on the Huskers' recruiting board for the past couple of months. That leaves the Sooners to focus entirely on four-star quarterback Bowe Bentley. In the wake of O'Neal's decommitment, the Sooners are looking to get Bentley back on campus this weekend, according to ESPN's Eli Lederman (formerly of Tulsa World). Bently just completed a strong showing in the Elite 11 finals in California this week.
