And Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim is weighing up his goalkeeping options and has not ruled out a new number one with Andre Onana emerging as a target for Monaco.

Amorim wants 'captains and leaders' in his squad and the Man Utd chief has been a long-term admirer of the Aston Villa stopper, 32, who has been named Fifa's best goalkeeper twice in the last three years.
A source said: 'Emi is big pals with Argentina team-mate Lisandro Martinez and is keen to move. He has already knocked back a couple of big hitters in the hope of joining United.
'Amorim is a huge admirer of his. He tried to sign him for Sporting in 2020 but lost out to Villa. He wants to fill the squad with captains and leaders and Emi fits the bill perfectly.'
Amorim has already landed Brazil and Wolves forward Matheus Cunha in a £62.5million deal after beginning to reshape his squad for the new Premier League season.

But now the Portuguese coach could land another South American in Argentina World Cup winner Martinez with question marks over Onana and understudy Altay Bayindir.
Onana has been linked with an Old Trafford exit after a number of high-profile blunders since joining from Inter Milan for £47m in July 2023 and Monaco are exploring a deal for the 29-year-old.
Bayindir also did not cover himself in glory when he conceded four in a loss at Newcastle after he was given the chance to replace error-prone Onana.
Martinez signed a new five-year £150,000-a-week deal with Villa less than a year ago, but the Midlands club failed to qualify for the Champions League.

Any bid of around £40m would ease Villa's financial concerns to satisfy Uefa's squad cost ratio after Unai Emery's side finished sixth in the Prem and secured Europa League football.
He sparked speculation over his future after he broke down in tears and took a bow in front of the Holte End after Villa's final home game of the season.

Martinez has been previously linked with Atletico Madrid, AC Milan and clubs in Saudi Arabia.

However, even if a deal is done, Amorim will be without him for the season opener at home to Arsenal on August 17 following a red card - ironically against Man Utd - in a 2-0 loss on the final day of the season last month.
Villa have been looking for keepers themselves and have made contact with Lille over £40m-rated stopper Lucas Chevalier. Nice's Polish keeper Marcin Bulka is also on Villa's radar.

Wallace Yan wrapped up the scoring seven minutes from time, putting Flamengo in charge of the group and potentially making Chelsea's route through the tournament complicated. Defender Marc Cucurella suggested discipline was an area Jackson needed to work on. The defender told DAZN: 'He is young player, he has a lot of quality, he maybe needs to improve this a little bit. We are here to improve, we are not perfect so it is part of the game.' Maresca did not deny the sending-off was damaging, though he tempered criticism by claiming it was not a clear-cut decision. 'Jordan Henderson caused trouble and my relationship with Jurgen Klopp changed'

Jordan Henderson was a leader, motivator and an engine for Liverpool, but one person who frequently visited Anfield labelled the England international as something else In the eyes of many Liverpool fans, Jordan Henderson was an Anfield leader and legend. However, iconic German referee Dr Felix Brych described the England midfielder as a "troublemaker". Henderson, 34, was often the loudest player on the pitch throughout his time at Liverpool. While his voice was mainly used for barking out instructions and encouragement to his team-mates, he also reserved plenty of noise for the officials. ‌ Brych understands this better than most, having officiated Henderson in Liverpool's European matches. The referee, who hung up the whistle for good at the end of the Bundesliga campaign, offered an insight into what it was like to referee Liverpool when Henderson was wearing the armband. ‌ Speaking to talkSPORT, Brych said: "I got along with all the players very well. But in every game there was always my troublemaker. "Looking back on many games at Anfield with Liverpool, when I saw Jordan Henderson, I knew I had to keep an eye on him. He was talking all throughout the game. "Also, James Milner. Sometimes he was quiet, sometimes he was talking a lot and like you do, you talk in a different way. In Germany, talking is much more aggressive. In England you talk in a different way, I knew that before the game." When quizzed on what the now Ajax midfielder used to say to him, the ex-referee added: "'Come on, it's not a foul. You can do it in Germany, but in England we want to let the game flow.' It was always this kind of trash talk, but I liked it and I got used to it. It was fun and games." Brych also remembered his first interaction with Klopp in the early 2000s. While their exchange was pleasant at the time, he had to park any niceties he had with his compatriot so opposing sides didn't think there was any favouritism going on. ‌ He added: "I met Jurgen Klopp in Germany 20 years ago, but in England it was a different relationship with him. If you know someone better than the others, they think you might favour them. I cannot give any kind of bonus to anybody." Brych walked away from refereeing at the end of the German football season after taking charge of 359 Bundesliga matches. As well as his domestic tally, which is a Bundesliga record, Brych also officiated 69 matches in the Champions League. Meanwhile, Klopp departed Liverpool at the end of last season after eight years in charge of the Reds. He has since gone on to become the head of global soccer at the Red Bull football franchise, where he has been advising on playing philosophy, scouting and other aspects of the set-up.

Nicolas Kuhn isn't ready for Celtic transfer exit and here is why they would struggle to get top dollar

There was a lot of talk of trouble with his teeth when Nicolas Kuhn arrived at Celtic and it was given as a reason for his slow start. Brendan Rodgers might need to get back on to his dentist because getting the winger playing with a smile on his face again should be the top priority right now – rather than considering pulling him out of the squad. Chat about a potential £15m bid for the winger has led to some fans suggesting the club should cash in. There will be a time to sell Kuhn. But now is not the time. I have my doubts Celtic would get £15m for the German this summer, for a start. He struggled at first in Scotland as he struggled having lost weight with those dental problems. He was sensational in the first half of the season and looked a certainty to clean up the player of the year awards. Yet he did go off the boil a bit following the Bayern Munich game and it does pose questions about his consistency. Are teams going to cough up big money on the back of a spectacular six months? They might do, but I'm not so sure. Newcastle United were credited with interest back in January but I can't see him shifting the likes of Harvey Barnes and Anthony Gordon. RB Leipzig are the ones mentioned now – and perhaps that's understandable given he took his old club apart in the Champions League. It just seems like the wrong time to be even considering selling though. I think Celtic will struggle to get top dollar and yet I believe he will be worth more down the line. Kuhn isn't ready for me. Sometimes you get the feeling a player has reached the natural stage where the next step is inevitable. We saw it with Matt O'Riley and Kieran Tierney. They have achieved a lot at Celtic, the money was right and it was the correct step for them personally. Kuhn isn't at that stage. Yet. I'm not baseball batting the lad by any stretch of the imagination. His performance levels in that first half of the season were incredible and he proved himself in the Champions League. He's undoubtedly a talent. But there was a tail off. Listen, it could be like Brendan Rodgers mentioned in relation to Arne Engels in that he wasn't quite used to a 50-game plus season under the kind of pressure you get at Celtic. I get that. I also didn't really like his goal celebration stuff at Tannadice when he gave it the blah-blah-blah routine to fans or the media or whoever. Kuhn was giving it back to the so-called critics but no one was giving him a hard time. People were pointing out there had been a dip in his form – because it was true. You could say the tooth hurts… It might have been hard to maintain the heights he hit previously, but that is the challenge for him and for everyone in the Celtic squad. Consistency is key. That's why I believe he should stick around for another year. Do the business in Scotland, hopefully get another season of testing himself in the Champions League and then see where he is at that point. There will be interest if he can do that. It's important he gets his head down and enjoys his football, as there were times in the last few months he looked slightly surly, like he was a bit in a huff. Why that might be is anyone's guess, but there's no doubt when he was content he was a superb player for Celtic. A lot of people are putting two and two together and getting £15m given the amount of wingers they have been linked with. The likes of Benjamin Nygren can play wide, Michel-Ange Balikwisha is another winger in the frame, with a few others. But I don't think the arrival of one, two or even three wide attackers should mean Kuhn has to go. Celtic need as many options as they can to compete on four fronts. I know Rangers have a heck of a lot of work to do under Russell Martin but they surely have to be better than last term. Europe is not a given either. This Champions League qualifier at the end of July is absolutely massive. Celtic simply cannot afford to be weaker going into that one. They need a couple of wide men to come in, they desperately need another striker. It remains to be seen if Rodgers will stick with Daizen Maeda through the middle or move him back to the flank. Either way, they need to have the ability to mix it up – and they can't be left short. They need to learn some of the lessons from last term, especially the error of letting Kyogo go and then not replacing him. You can't tell me Celtic would not have fared better in the Scottish Cup if they had him still on board. They paid the price and that can't happen again. It looks like they are starting to ramp things up with Tierney in the door and Nygren seeming to fit the bill. Celtic have a decent track record with Swedish players after all… Nygren is still fairly young and is developing though. He could be another project – albeit one that's further down the line than some. He appears a solid signing but he should be to compliment the likes of Kuhn – not replacing him. As Celtic can't be toothless going into the Champions League.
