Boys accused of murdering teen on his way to football appears in court
Three boys, two aged 14 and one aged 16, appeared at Manchester Youth Court.
A 14-year-old schoolboy was stabbed to death whilst on his way to play football in a park with friends, a court has heard.
Three boys, two aged 14 and one aged 16, appeared at Manchester Youth Court, sitting at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court, on Wednesday accused of the murder of Ibrahima Seck - described by his family as a 'funny, caring and hardworking' boy.
The youngster died from a single stab wound having been allegedly attacked by the youths in New Moston, north Manchester, at around 5pm on Sunday, The Manchester Evening News reports.
He ran to a nearby house but despite the efforts of emergency services and staff from an air ambulance, he was pronounced dead in hospital less than an hour later, the court heard.
None of the accused can be identified because they are aged under 18. They are all also accused of possession of a bladed article.
Two of the accused, one aged 14 and the 16-year-old, were first brought into the dock at the court for brief hearings on Wednesday morning. Both spoke to give their names and addresses, and the younger boy, wearing a grey tracksuit, had his aunt and uncle in court sat alongside lawyers.
The older boy, who had his mother and a social worker in court, wore a blue tracksuit.
Rebecca Macauley-Addison, prosecuting, gave a brief outline of the charges to magistrates, telling the court Ibrahima was on his way to play football in a local park in New Moston when he was stabbed.
The prosecutor said a post-mortem examination had concluded the cause of death to be a single stab wound and Ibrahima was pronounced dead just under an hour after the stabbing.

Magistrates remanded both boys into secure youth detention, the 16-year-old's mother leaving the courtroom, wiping away tears.
The third youth, the other 14-year-old, was then brought into the dock, wearing a grey tracksuit. His mother and father were also in court for the brief hearing where he too was remanded to secure youth detention. All three will next appear at Manchester Crown Court on Thursday.
A 37-year-old woman and a 14-year-old girl who were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender have been released on bail pending further inquiries.
Earlier, Detective Chief Inspector Tony Platten, of Greater Manchester Police (GMP), said: 'The last 48 hours has seen an extensive amount of police work which has seen multiple officers working to help get the answers Ibrahima's family deserve. Now that we have secured three charges, a new level of proceedings is active and we will continue to work on our investigation as this progresses.
'Ibrahima's family remain at the forefront of our minds and we will be remaining in close contact with them throughout the process.'
Following his death, Ibrahima's parents paid tribute to him as a 'well-liked young boy' who was 'funny, caring and hard-working'.
Detectives are still appealing for doorbell or dashcam footage, or eyewitness accounts from anyone who was in the area at the time, quoting log 2250 of 08/06/2025.

Parents of baby decapitated during birth betrayed after doctor posts graphic pics
"Graphic and grisly" footage from the baby's post-mortem was shared on Instagram. The parents of a baby who was tragically decapitated during childbirth have been awarded millions after a pathologist shared graphic footage of their son's post-mortem examination online. Jessica Ross and Treveon Taylor Sr. were unable to see their first child - whom they called Treveon Isaiah Taylor Jr. - following his birth on July 10, 2023. He had become stuck behind her pelvic bone after several hours of labour. Medics did not tell the couple his head had been severed during the delivery, according to court documents. They later hired pathologist Dr Jackson Gates, after a funeral home informed them of the condition of their son's body. However, he shared a video of the baby's body on social media, showing "graphic and grisly detail of post-mortem examination" and his "decapitated, severed head", according to lawyers for the parents. Although he deleted the video from Instagram, he posted a further two just a few days later, all of which the couple said were shared without their permission, the Mirror reports. Cory Lynch, a lawyer for the couple told Fox 5 Atlanta: "For him to post these images and videos without permission was insane to us. "And especially with the nature of the posts... of the grisly details of the autopsy examination and also pictures of the child's head. It was baffling that he would do something like that." In September 2023, Ms Ross and Mr Taylor took legal action against Gates and the firm Gates Rapid Diagnostic Laboratory of Atlanta. The doctor did not respond, leaving the State Court in Fulton County, Georgia, to decide the case. The pathologist's lawyer Ira Livnat, who was hired after the court's decision, claimed this resulted in the case ending in favour of the parents, stating: "The plaintiffs got the absolute best case." Footage shows three vans burst into fireball after attack outside Glasgow supermarket
Police and fire crews were called to Pollokshields shortly after midnight on Saturday. Shocking footage captured the moment three vans burst into flames in a firebomb attack outside a supermarket in Glasgow. The parked vehicles were targeted outside Strawberry Garden - a grocers and cash and carry - just after midnight on Saturday. The motors exploded into a fireball on Forth Street in the Pollokshields area, causing a huge plume of black smoke. Cops have launched probe into the deliberate blaze. a blaze probe into the incident described by one local as "deliberate and malicious". One video taken by an eyewitness shows the intensity of the inferno as the vehicles are engulfed. Huge flames can be seen bursting out of the vans as black smoke billows out from above. Three Scottish Fire and Rescue crews were scrambled to the scene at 12.08am with crews working for two hours to extinguish the fire. Police locked down the scene as shocked locals and shop workers began to gather near the cordon. One witness who was working at a nearby business said: "It was crazy there were police everywhere. Three vans were on fire outside Strawberry Garden. I couldn't get out to see my car for a while so I didn't know if it was on fire or not. "I had parked further down Forth Street earlier. Luckily it was far enough away from the blaze. "By the time I finished at 2am I was allowed to leave by police." Pictures taken at the scene today show how all three motors were left a burnt out shell. One motor was so badly torched that only the bottom half and wheels remained intact. Detectives returned to behind the cordon to assess the damage. A recovery vehicle was also at the scene ready to remove the charred remains from the scene. Police say they are treating the fire as suspicious. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: 'Around 12.05am on Saturday, 21 June, 2025, police received a report of three vehicles on fire in the Forth Street area of Glasgow. "The fires were extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and no injuries were reported. The incident is being treated as suspicious and enquiries are ongoing.' A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "Around 12.08am Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called to a report of three vehicles on fire on Forth Street, Glasgow. "We mobilised three appliances to the scene. There were no reports of injuries. "Crews left at 2.09am."

Search for missing woman last seen leaving Tesco in Bathgate
Leigh Groves has not made contact with anybody since Friday night. A search has been launched for a woman who disappeared after leaving a supermarket in West Lothian. Leigh Groves, 30, was last seen at 8.40pm on Friday, June 20, and has not been in contact with anybody since. The last known sighting of her was exiting a Tesco store on Blackburn Road, Bathgate, before heading in the direction of the town's Pyramids Business Park. Leigh is described as white, around 5ft 3ins tall, and of a slim build with long dark hair. She may be wearing a burgundy or light-coloured tartan leather dress. 'We are asking anyone who has seen Leigh or knows where she might be to get in touch with us immediately.'
