Katherine Ryan proves a high street mascara is 'the one' with incredible results

Daily Mirror13-06-2025

"I'm not selling anything, this high street mascara is the one"
Though Katherine Ryan is officially a comedian, we think she might be bidding for a career as a beauty influencer. The Would I Lie To You? and TV regular certainly knows a thing or two about aesthetics and beauty, something she's proving with her latest high street mascara recommendation.
Taking to TikTok to share a very impressive before-and-after shot of her lashes, the soon-to-be mum of four, who announced her latest pregnancy just last week, captions the clip: "Am I the only one who puts mascara on by blinking slowly?"
The subject of the TikTok is Benefit's They're Real Mascara, which Katherine says is "the ONE". She explains: "I've seen a lot of mascara reviews on here, and I know I'm going to get in trouble in a minute because it is 7.56 pm and I'm on stage in 4 minutes, but I'm ready as soon as I get on.
"I don't have an affiliate link and I'm not selling anything, but I use some designer make-up products but never mascara. For some reason, I think high street ones are better. This is Benefit They're Real."
She goes on to explain how she finds high street mascaras "don't flake" and how she prefers mini-sized ones so she can take them travelling with her. If you're looking at Katherine's incredible results, you can pick up the mini mascara for £15 from Selfridges, or you can make the most of LookFantastic's offer this week which gives you a full size They're Real Mascara as well as the travel-sized one for £27 (but worth £42).
Katherine's TikTok followers say they're prepped to add it to their own virtual shopping baskets after seeing her lashes with a coat of the mascara on. One asks: "Katherine how the hell are your lashes that long??"
Another shares her love for the Benefit buy, saying: "Nothing beats Benefit mascara!", with another chiming in with: "I've loved Benefit mascara for the longest time."
"This is the best mascara ever. I've used it for years. Can't beat it," writes another.
"I shall NEVER return to my old drug store mascara... Benefit has my heart," concludes a final user.
The formula itself promises to lengthen and extend the appearance of your lashes to create a false effect. Lasting up to 36 hours of wear, the formula is smudge, transfer and flake-proof – as Katherine says. However, a few of the comedian's other followers are saying they don't think a £15 mascara – for a mini, at that – counts as a high street one. So if you are looking for a mascara recommendation under £10, they have plenty of other suggestions.
One TikToker advises others to check out Maybelline's Sky High Mascara, which can be bought for £8 on Amazon. A few others say they swear by L'Oreal's iconic Telescopic Mascara, available for £9.59 at the moment.

Common cruise cost-saving hack backfires as woman gets BANNED for life

A woman has been banned for life from a popular cruise line after sharing a video of her smuggling alcohol on board a ship. Courtney Murley posted a video detailing how to avoid paying for a costly drinks package on a cruise. She captioned the video, which got over 400k views on TikTok, 'Def waited until after I got home to post this! Hahahaha but it worked.' But it seems the video was brought to the attention of Carnival Cruise Lines who have now banned her from travelling with them again. In the viral video Ms Murley demonstrated how she was able to sneak alcohol on board the Carnival Conquest at the end of March. She said: 'Forget a drink package lol….okay we ended up drinking probably what we would of paid for a drink package anyways but still was fun to try and see if the rum runners would work.' Followers took to the comments to warn Ms Murley that there could be consequences. One user wrote: 'Wow. The last thing to do is post this and when you get banned whine about it not being alcohol. You ratted yourself out.' Ms Murley later shared a screenshot of a letter that she received from Carnival Cruise Lines banning her from future travel. It read: 'This letter is to inform you that you will not be able to sail onboard any Carnival Cruise Line vessel in the future due to the smuggling of alcohol onboard the Carnival Conquest on March 31st, 2025, and subsequently posting about it on social media platforms. 'Your attempt to book a future cruise will result in cancellation and a possible loss of deposit monies.' However, in a follow-up video, Ms Murley then claimed that she never actually smuggled alcohol onboard. Instead, she made up the story in what became a successful attempt to go viral. She said: 'What I'm mad about is that they are banning me for something that didn't happen,' she claimed. 'They said for smuggling alcohol. I did not smuggle alcohol. 'Not one ounce of alcohol was smuggled onto the ship.'

We bought an abandoned Italian mansion for half of the asking price, it looks like a palace but there's a major downside

And while the stunning property was definitely a steal, they revealed one major downside to their plans. Their latest purchase is an "abandoned Italian palace" which hasn't been inhabited in 40 years. The couple have been documenting their rennovation work on the 14-bedroom space, amassing eight million views on one of their clips. "When I was younger, I would have dreamed of a place like this," Jordan told his followers, revealing that features such as the property's armoury immediately sold him. Now, the pair plan to convert the 16th-century Italian palace into a private residence, reports People. They have been working to renovate various properties together since 2018, eventually leading them to their most restoration yet. Their new estate was built sometime in the 1500s and has over 21,500 square feet of living space. With years of experience navigating Italy's real estate market, the couple were able to negotiate the purchase price down to roughly half the original listing. They revealed that they ultimately paid the equivalent of £557,000 for the property, plus additional fees and taxes. The pair are now focused on clearing out the vast spaces and salvaging what they can. Inside Ireland's 'magical' Disney castle with fairytale tower on sale for €7.5MILLION and it's minutes from the beach However, the long-abandoned property comes with one major drawback. They revealed that they have had to deal with "decades of decay" in their efforts to do up the space. But there are significantly more pros than cons with this property, as well as being a steal with magnificent views of the Italian countryside, it remarkably also has functional plumbing. While the current plan is to convert the space into a private property, the couple are remaining flexible and allowing for the possibility of opening one wing to guests as a vacation rental. They added that they are also considering opening parts of the palace for events such as weddings. 5 Tips to Get on The Property Ladder Saving for your first property is tough, but it is possible. Here are a few steps for first-time buyers. 1. Cut back on luxuries and start saving Consistent monthly saving is the best way to accumulate enough money to get on the ladder, for a deposit and purchase fees. To do this, you need to take a look at your monthly outgoings and think about what can be cut out - holidays, new clothes, weekly takeaway. Using a savings calculator can help you to establish how long you will need to save for a deposit. Based on your income, you can figure out a realistic amount to save each month. 2. Have a realistic property search Set a budget for the property price you would like to buy, and think realistically about the location and size of your property. While we all may want that house with a view or extra bedroom, can you afford it? 3. Research Help To Buy and Shared Ownership schemes The government has introduced a few ways to help first-time-buyers get on the property ladder and they're great for those on lower incomes or to buy a property in more expensive areas like London. 4. Consider buying with another person Investing with somebody else you know is a sure way to get onto the property ladder. You only need to save half the amount you would otherwise, so you can work towards getting your property sooner. You can invest with a friend, family or partner. Naturally, it is a big step and a huge commitment so be open and honest about what you expect from living together — if you haven't already. 5. Talk to a mortgage broker and get your documents in order A mortgage broker can tell you exactly how much you can borrow for a mortgage, what you will need to pay monthly and in upfront costs. The vast property has an array of indoor-outdoor spaces, a favourite feature for the couple. These include several verandas, loggias, and panoramic atriums offering exposure to the Italian sun throughout the day. TikTok users shared their thoughts on the stunning property in the comments section. "This has SO MUCH potential as not only a home but also a wedding venue," wrote one viewer. "I've never been so jealous in my entire life," said another impressed follower. "People are really out there living my dream," commented a third person.

Now, Sofia's showing off a whole new vibe on Instagram, debuting a dramatic transformation with a chic, ultra-short haircut that nearly erases her signature long locks Looking stunning in a black top and striped skirt, the style star posed confidently with her fresh cut—captioning the snaps simply: 'French Bob.' Sofia posted the album days after the TikTok video in which she and Elliot shrugged off the swirling rumors about the state of their marriage. 'Get that coin, sis,' Elliot read out loud, prompting Sofia to let out a small laugh. He then continued with, 'Why wouldn't she want to be single again?' and 'They got married?' Another was, 'She already secured the baby. Sofia has a rich dad as well, she should divorce him and take his child support money.' As Richie laughed once again while her husband read the comment, Grainge quietly added to his wife, 'Don't do that Soph.' Elliot then read another and said, 'That? Cheating on her?' - causing them both to agree the comment was 'mean.' Sofia panned the camera back to her and after a few moments passed, her husband questioned, 'What am I? Shrek?' In the caption of the post, the daughter of Lionel Richie penned to her followers: 'I had to break it to my husband that he's not the peoples princess.' Social media users jumped to the comment section on the star's TikTok to offer their support to the couple. One penned, 'Best way to silence haters,' while another typed, 'Changing my dating app bio to "looking for an Elliot Grainge."' 'People honestly forgot how hurtful the things they say can be. That's terrible, poor dude,' a fan wrote. One shared, 'NOW this is a way that we should be clearing up rumors every single time. I love this,' and another added, 'Never doubted this man! He loves her, people are weird.' 'Real ones love Elliot and know he treats you like a queen,' one TikTok user penned, which also garnered a like from Sofia. She also uploaded a picture of herself cradling little Eloise as they both stared out an open window to gaze at the dazzling ocean view Sofia and Elliot are pictured on their wedding day in a photo she posted to Instagram last year in celebration of their first anniversary Richie - who shares daughter Eloise, one, with Grainge - filmed herself listening to him as he listed some of the 'mean' comments as he laid next to her on a bed Sofia panned the camera back to her and after a few moments passed, her husband questioned, 'What am I? Shrek?' A fan commented, 'What a way to respond,' while one added, 'Ugh please let this type of love attack me.' Back in 2021, it was confirmed that Sofia was dating Elliot - who is the son of CEO of Universal Music Group Lucian Grainge. The following year, he popped the big question during a romantic proposal during a getaway to Hawaii. In April 2023, Sofia walked down the aisle and the couple said 'I do' during a ceremony that took place in the south of France. The nuptials went viral on social media when the beauty launched her TikTok only days before the big day - and drew massive attention for its 'quiet luxury.' During an interview with L'Officiel, the star opened up about the following she garnered not long after joining TikTok. She currently boasts nearly 4 million followers on TikTok, and 11 million on Instagram. 'I've never expected to get any positive feedback from social media,' she told the outlet. 'My happiness doesn't depend on social media feedback, and I feel like I protected my mental health in that way throughout the years of being in the spotlight.' Sofia added, 'It was shocking for me to see such positive feedback, and it really put a smile on my face. It made me feel like, "Wow, there are kind people out there."' When it comes to using her social media accounts - especially TikTok - the star explained, 'I truly try to stay true to myself and my brand, and I honestly use TikTok like I'm talking to my friends. I'm just having fun. 'I don't want people to feel like I'm leading them to buy everything under the moon because I'm getting paid.' And while talking to Who What Wear in 2023, she reflected on launching her TikTok page to document the days leading up to her wedding. 'My friends were like, "How cool would it be if you started a TikTok and showed people in real time what was happening?" I thought, "You know what? That's so refreshing, and that's a great idea."' Sofia then jokingly revealed, 'I actually feel like a grandma on TikTok. Fun fact: I don't even know how to edit a video.' The star later expressed, 'The content that I created around my wedding was organic, and I wasn't pushing anything or hiding anything waiting for a magazine to publish. I was just being myself and letting people live through it with me in real time.' Sofia has been keeping busy and recently jumped to Instagram shortly after addressing the cheating allegations. Both she and Elliot recently enjoyed a getaway to the French Riviera to attend a wedding. Richie uploaded a series of snaps, including one where she and her husband were dressed to the nines and shared a loving kiss underneath the warm sunshine. The star wore a sleeveless, vibrant blue gown that was held up with halter-styled straps and Grainge sported a classic black tuxedo. Their baby girl Eloise - who celebrated her first birthday last month in May - also joined her parents for the trip. Sofia shared additional pictures that were taken over Father's Day weekend as they spent time at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, where both she and Elliot tied the knot two years earlier.
