Wimborne woman organises fayre to raise funds for cancer research
IN A bid to represent Dorset in a national competition, a Wimborne woman has organised a charity fundraising fayre at the end of this month
Issy Johnson, 19, from Wimborne, is one of 10 finalists for the Miss Dorset competition and hopes to represent the county on a national level while also raising money for Cancer Research UK.
She said: 'I never thought I'd get to where I am now so to get to the next level would be amazing.
As part of her pageantry and to give back to the community, she has organised a family friendly fayre to raise money for Cancer Research UK, a cause she said is 'close to her heart'.

Issy Johnson (Image: Issy Johnson) The fayre will be held on Sunday May 31 and Monday June 1 in Conels on Haslop Road, a private garden hosting its first ever event.
She said 'Cancer affects everyone. I know people that have died from cancer or are suffering from it and I just want to help as much as I can.'
The fundraiser will have live music, including performance from authentic tribute band 'The Beatles Experience', local artists and activities for children to take part in.
She previously entered the competition in Surrey and is hoping to exceed the £2,000 she raised last year.
Despite being born and raised in Wimborne, Issy said she has not had an 'average' childhood.

After leaving school at the age of nine-years-old, she travelled all over the world with her family, spending time in countries like the United States, Japan and Russia.
She added her experiences living abroad helped her 'become more adaptable and open-minded' and 'pushed' her to 'connect with different types of people', skills she hope will aid her in the competition.
However, she said since she and her family have returned home, she has been 'more invested in the community'.
The winner will of the regional competition will be announced on Sunday, August 3, at the Village Hotel in Bournemouth.
The successful Miss Dorset will then go on to represent the county in Miss Great Britain 2025, with the national Miss Great Britain 2025 final taking place on Friday October 17.
The Miss Great Britain is a national beauty contest held annually in Britain since 1945 and is Britain's longest-running beauty pageant.

IT was one of those days that ends the way all good days should – with a hearty meal in a buzzing pub, the kind where you feel like you've stumbled into someone's living room rather than a bar. After a day spent walking Wivenhoe's streets, chatting with locals and soaking up riverside sunshine, I ended up exactly where I was meant to: at The Greyhound. I scanned their daily specials board and eventually landed on the wholetail scampi, served with seasoned fries and a dressed salad (£12.50). It was a tough choice, though. Their menu is packed with pub classics, small plates, burgers and sandwiches – a spread that makes decision-making a genuine challenge. Tempted by more, I gave in and ordered a small plate of falafel bites (£7), which came with a rich hummus and fresh salad. My meal (Image: Newsquest Reporter) Honestly? Some of the best falafel I've had in a long time – crisp outside, perfectly spiced inside, and paired with a creamy hummus that made each bite better than the last. The scampi didn't disappoint either – golden, generous, and full of flavour. The fries were perfectly seasoned, and the salad gave just the right crunch and freshness to round it all out. Another diner near me recommended the house curry – 'highly commended,' they said with a nod – so that's definitely going on my list for next time. I kept things simple with a Coke (£3.70), but the bar's selection of local beers and ales looked impressive. Portion sizes were no joke – I ended up asking for a takeaway box, and the staff kindly packed everything up with a smile. Warm, welcoming and deeply satisfying, The Greyhound is the kind of place you leave full – not just from the food, but from the experience.

Noel Edmonds complains he is 'haemorrhaging money' on £15m New Zealand estate
Noel Edmonds reveals he is losing money with his business in New Zealand when the pouring rain puts people off coming to his pub. "We're haemorrhaging money at the moment," he says in ITV's Kiwi Adventure. The Deal or No Deal presenter, 76, set up life across the pond in New Zealand, leaving behind the UK forever in 2018. He bought up a £15m estate, River Haven, of 12 properties including a pub called The Bugger Inn and his own vineyard. Inviting the cameras into his life once again, the TV star has filmed a fly-on-the-wall reality show Kiwi Adventure which is now streaming on ITVX. In dramatic scenes in episode two, Edmonds is stood watching the downpours at the start of the season where he shares that the business is losing money as a result of the weather. He says: "When you come to New Zealand, you change your view about your relationship between the weather and the economy. "We're haemorrhaging money at the moment because you have to take staff on in anticipation of the guests coming. We're going to have to have a spectacular November and December to balance the books." Ever the optimist, Edmonds doesn't lose hope that things will turn out for the better. He says: "I believe in the cosmos. I believe everything happens for a reason." Although, he does admit: "Just struggling at the moment to come up with a good reason here!" It's early spring and The Bugger Inn pub should have lots of customers but there is barely anyone in sight because of the rain — despite their best efforts of trying to get people to come in. Earlier on, Edmonds had admitted it has been hard setting up his own business. He tells the cameras: "New Zealand is a great place to come to but it's not the easiest place to set up a business. We've done a fascinating thing with the River Haven adventure. Will it be the move that sustains us for years to come? Watch this space!" Despite the struggles, it's clear that Edmonds loves his new life in New Zealand with his wife Liz. "We were drawn here by the energy of the area," he says. Their new life in New Zealand is a far cry from their lives when they first met on the set of Deal or No Deal in the UK in 2006. It's been six years since they packed up their lives in the UK. The TV star has the chance to share why he decided to leave the UK for good in 2018. He says in Kiwi Adventure: "When people say to me, 'What do you miss at the UK?' I find myself going back to why I left. Because all the things I miss about Britain are the reasons I left. By that I mean that the country changed so much, so fast, so fundamentally, that I found myself missing a quieter country... We are not trees so you can move." Edmonds reveals he aims to have no regrets when he "gets to the end". Elsewhere, Liz also explains the couple had not initially thought they would set up the business. She says: "None of this was planned. None of it was planned at all. There was no plan whatsoever to buy a vineyard and do this. Jeremy Clarkson's girlfriend, Lisa Hogan, has revealed that she was sacked from her job at a pub. The Irish actress and model began dating the former Top Gear and Grand Tour host back in 2017 and regularly appears on Clarkson's Farm.
