As the Boston Celtics get ready for a crucial offseason, the front office has a lot of work to do around the roster. Due to the new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), Boston may have to shed major salaries this summer to avoid any severe penalties.
This could see the Celtics break up the core group of players that helped them win a title last season. But due to the salary issues and the Achilles injury to star Jayson Tatum, the Celtics could look very different next year.
One player who has seen their name be thrown into trade talks is guard Derrick White. White has been an instrumental piece to the Celtics' overall success and has become a fan favorite in Boston.
Boston isn't likely to trade White, barring an offer that they can't refuse. But ahead of the offseason, the Celtics guard did make an announcement.
White will be participating in the NBA's 2025 Basketball Without Borders program. The guard will be joined by a few other NBA players, notably Tyrese Maxey of the Philadelphia 76ers, center Duop Reath of the Portland Trail Blazers, and WNBA legend Ticha Penicheiro.
NEW: Derrick White is headed to Singapore next week to coach a Basketball Without Borders camp for some of the top youth players in Asia-Pacific.

White will be going to Singapore between June 19-22, and will work with NBA assistant coaches as well. Vinay Bhavnani of the Toronto Raptors, Jared Dudley of the Dallas Mavericks, Ronald Nored of the Atlanta Hawks, and Khalid Robinson of the Golden State Warriors will all be there.
Basketball Without Borders is a basketball camp that is organized by the NBA =, in conjunction with FIBA. The program hosts camps across 33 different countries, helping to interact with more than 4,600 participants.
Troy Justice, the NBA's senior vice president and head of International Basketball Operations, released a statement on the program.
"Bringing Basketball Without Borders back to Singapore reflects our commitment to growing the game in the country and across Asia-Pacific," Justice said. "This year's camp is particularly special, as it will coincide with our new basketball and entertainment festival and the NBA Rising Stars Invitational, our first regional high-school basketball tournament. We look forward to a memorable week of events that will leave a lasting impact on fans and players from across the region."

Photo byThis should be a cool experience for White, and allows him to five back to the basketball world. White is a do-everything type of player on the court, and he has built out a solid career for himself.
The veteran guard is loved in Boston, and it's more than likely that he will return next season, even with all the rumors going around. Boston can't afford to lose a player like him, especially if they want to still compete for a title next season.

Should the Boston Celtics take Joan Beringer in the 2025 NBA draft?

Should the Boston Celtics take Joan Beringer in the 2025 NBA draft? At just 18 years old, Beringer is an intriguing prospect who stands at 6-foot-10 and weighs in at 230 lbs, playing the center position for Croatia's KK Cedevita Junior club last season. The Strasbourg, France native put up 5.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game in that campaign while hitting 64.4% of his shots from the field overall, but just 56.6% from the free throw line. Those might not be eye-popping numbers, but European ball tends to be more of a team effort on both ends, and he accomplished it in just 18.8 minutes of playing time. Advertisement The hosts of the CLNS Media "How Bout Them Celtics!" podcast, Jack Simone and Sam LaFrance, took some time on a recent episode of their show to talk over Beringer's fit in Boston. Check it out below to hear what they had to say. Alex Caruso disses Lakers' 2020 championship: 'Now I got a real one'

Former Los Angeles Lakers guard Alex Caruso is an NBA champion once again. On Sunday, his Oklahoma City Thunder outlasted the Indiana Pacers in Game 7 of the NBA Finals and claimed the Larry O'Brien Trophy. Caruso was instrumental throughout the playoffs, just as he was when he won it all with the Lakers in 2020. His stats are usually modest, but he makes an impact that goes well beyond those numbers, not just on the defensive end but in multiple facets of the game. On Sunday, he scored 10 points and added three rebounds, three steals and one block in 32 minutes off the bench. As much as anyone, he has embodied a Thunder defense that people are calling historically great. Following Sunday's victory, Caruso seemed to throw shade at the ring he earned with the Purple and Gold inside of the Walt Disney World Resort bubble. 'Yeah, now I got a real one. Now nobody can say anything. Yeah, I think just because of the way the team is constructed now versus the team I had in 2020, like it was much harder with this team just because of the experience, right? And everybody talked about you need experience, win a championship, and you need this, that, and the other. And I said multiple times through the postseason with this team that the good basketball is good basketball, winning basketball is winning basketball. And the best team can win no matter what happens if you go out there and execute and do the stuff that you need to do to win the game. And I think through the playoffs, this team grew up and learned on the fly, which most teams have to learn through losses and learn through defeat. And I think this team learned through success.' Shai Gilgeous-Alexander completed a sensational season by being named the NBA Finals MVP. He had previously won the regular-season MVP and the scoring title, making him just the fourth player ever to attain all three accomplishments in the same season. Caruso was asked about Gilgeous-Alexander's potential to be the face of the NBA, just as LeBron James was or has been for many years. While he said Gilgeous-Alexander could be the face of the league, he stopped short of comparing the newly minted MVP to James. "Comparing to LeBron is a crazy start just 'cause LeBron was anointed at 18 years old and surpassed everything that has ever been put in front of him," Caruso said. "As far as face of the league and best player on best team, SGA's got that capability." Lakers fans have undoubtedly experienced withdrawal symptoms watching Caruso throughout the playoffs. He left L.A. in the summer of 2021 in free agency after the team unsuccessfully haggled with him over a couple of extra million dollars a year. It was one of several blunders by executive Rob Pelinka that offseason, which essentially dismantled the 2020 championship team and plunged the franchise into purgatory for most of the last four years.

Could Florida guard Walter Clayton Jr. fall to the Boston Celtics in the 2025 NBA draft?

Could Univeristy of Florida guard Walter Clayton Jr. fall to the Boston Celtics in the 2025 NBA draft? Clayton was the star of the eventual champion Gators in the 2025 NCAA Tournament, his clutch makes from beyond the arc helping to power UF to another national title. And while he may have some defensive warts, an older draft age, and a short stature going against his projected draft position, that might be good luck for Boston given they are selecting at Nos. 28 and 32 overall in the first and second round respectively. Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 199 lbs., Clayton will need to get a bit stronger to survive at the NBA level. And with the maturity of a 22-year-old going for him, his age might not be so bad for a ball club like the Celtics looking for an immediate contributor. The hosts of the CLNS Media "First to the Floor" podcast, Jake Issenberg, Ben Vallis, and Wayne Spooney, took a closer look at Clayton on a recent episode of their show. Check it out below!
