Maoist couple active in MMC zone surrenders
Raipur: A Maoist couple active for past eight years in the MMC (Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh) zone, surrendered before Kabirdham district police on Thursday.
The surrendered couple carried Rs 7 lakh bounty on their heads and they were identified as Ramesh alias Atam Guddu, 29 and his wife Savita alias Lachhi Oyam, 21.
They turned themselves in before police officials in Kawardha town, the headquarter of the district. The couple said that they were upset with the internal differences within the Maoist organization, their inhuman

The officer said that Ramesh was a member of platoon number one and Gondia (Maharashtra)-Rajnandgaon (Chhattisgarh)-Balaghat (Madhya Pradesh)- GRB division committee of Maoists, his wife was active as member of Tanda area committee, he said, adding that they were carrying Rs 5 lakh and Rs 2 lakh respectively.

Ramesh had sustained injuries in an encounter in 2019 with security forces in Bhoramdeo area in Kabirdham district.
Police said that the Maoists were desperately making efforts to set up their new base in the tri-junction forest of MMC zone - consisting of areas of Balaghat (MP), Gondia (Maharashtra), Rajnandgaon, Mungeli and Kabirdham districts (Chhattisgarh) since 2017-18.
During their time in the outfit, Ramesh operated with a 12-bore gun and Savita carried an 8mm rifle.
After surrendering, the couple received an immediate incentive of Rs 25,000 each under the state's surrender and rehabilitation policy. Authorities confirmed that they will now be rehabilitated in accordance with the govt's new surrender and rehabilitation guidelines, which have been credited with encouraging dozens of extremists to abandon violence and rejoin mainstream society.

BHOPAL: The MP High Court has commuted the death penalty of a 20-year-old tribal man convicted of rape in Khandwa district, reducing his sentence to 25 years of imprisonment. In 2023, a trial court had found him guilty of raping and attempting to murder a 4-year-old girl. Hearing the petition challenging the April 2023 Khandwa district's Protection of Children from Sexual Offence (POCSO) Act court's order rendering the youth death sentence, a two-judge bench of Justices Vivek Agrawal and Devnarayan Mishra held that though raping a four-year-old innocent child and strangling her and throwing her in a deserted place is a cruel act, considering the family background of the youth, the death sentence is not appropriate. CBI brings back Rs 3.66 crore fraud accused from UAE via Interpol

His return was facilitated by CBI's International Police Cooperation Unit (IPCU) in collaboration with the National Central Bureau (NCB) in Abu by the Gujarat Police in a case registered at Adajan Police Station, Surat, Jain faces serious charges including cheating by personation, dishonest inducement for delivery of property, forgery of valuable security, and criminal to investigators, Jain, working as a real estate agent, showed four properties to the complainant and fraudulently convinced him to purchase them. He allegedly conspired with accomplices who impersonated the real property owners using forged identity documents. These documents were then used to open bank accounts in the names of the actual owners. The complainant was duped of ₹3.66 crore in the Jain fled India, he was geo-located in the UAE through close coordination between CBI and INTERPOL's NCB-Abu Dhabi. Following his arrest in the UAE, Indian authorities submitted an extradition request via the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of External Affairs.
