A thematic yoga session was performed by sanitation workers, students and NCC cadets at the outdoor stadium in Kurnool city as part of the YogAndhra campaign on Tuesday.
Minister for Industries and Commerce T.G. Bharath, Kurnool MP Bastipati Nagaraju, District Collector P. Ranjith Basha and others participated in the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bharath said that the district topped with 11 lakh registrations for participation in the YogAndhra campaign. Highlighting the benefits of yoga, he asked students to practice yoga for a better physical and mental health.
The Minister said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had initiated the month-long campaign to promote and create awareness about the benefits of yoga among all the sections of people to lead a healthy life. He expressed hope that the yoga session with five lakh participants in Visakhapatnam on June 21, in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also participate, will find a place in Guinness Book of World Records.
On the occasion, he said that they would take steps to develop the outdoor stadium and will provide facilities like walking track and others at the stadium.

Urging daily practice, Gadkari emphasised yoga's scientific benefits for holistic health. "Incorporate yoga into your routine for a healthier life," he advised. Dr Prashant P Joshi, executive director & CEO of AIIMS-Nagpur, echoed the call for regular yoga practice, advocating its inclusion in school curricula. He highlighted yoga's enduring role in healing the modern world. Some participants infused creativity into the serene practice. NCC cadets from R&V Sqn of Nagpur Group performed yoga on horseback, showcasing remarkable mind-body harmony, enhancing their flexibility, balance and focus. MahaMetro hosted yoga events at Lokmanya Nagar, Khapri, Zero Mile, and Chhatrapati Chowk Metro stations. Ludhiana: In a show of unity and commitment to wellness, institutions across Ludhiana celebrated the International Day of Yoga on Saturday with enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and citizens alike. From university campuses to govt colleges, yoga sessions echoed the importance of a balanced life. At Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), the directorate of students' welfare organised a special yoga session on the athletic track. More than 200 participants, including students, faculty members, and guests, attended the session. Inaugurating the event, Tarsem Singh Dhillon, additional director of extension education, stressed the growing need for yoga and meditation to combat modern-day stress. "Practising yoga even for a short while daily can help one lead a healthier and stress-free life," he said. The session included warm-up exercises, yogic asanas, and pranayama, with detailed guidance on benefits and techniques by the invited experts. At Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (Gadvasu), NCC cadets from 1 Pb R&V Squadron and NSS volunteers participated in a vibrant yoga celebration. Students performed asanas like Surya Namaskar, Vajrasana, Bhujangasana and Anulom-Vilom in synchrony, promoting both physical and mental fitness. Praising the discipline of the cadets, vice-chancellor JPS Gill said, "Yoga is a lifestyle that brings harmony between body and mind." Sarvpreet S Ghuman, director (students' welfare), emphasised yoga's role in boosting immunity and concentration. At SCD Govt College, about 1,000 participants, including 250 NSS volunteers, 50 NCC and Red Ribbon Club members, and nearly 700 citizens associated with the Bharatiya Yoga Sansthan, came together for a yoga session. Principal Gursharnjit Singh Sandhu highlighted the initiative's aim of promoting mental peace, discipline, and Indian cultural values. Vijayawada: International Yoga Day was celebrated on a grand scale across Andhra Pradesh on Saturday, marking the conclusion of the month-long 'Yogandhra' campaign initiated by state govt to promote wellness and a healthy lifestyle. The main event for the 11th International Yoga Day was hosted in Visakhapatnam, while similar large-scale events were held at all district headquarters. In the Amaravati capital region alone, officials estimated a turnout of around two lakh participants. A major highlight was the mega celebration at Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in Vijayawada, organised by the NTR district administration, where nearly 10,000 people took part. Police commissioner Rajasekhar Babu and district collector Dr G Lakshmisha actively participated. He emphasised the benefits of simple 45-minute daily yoga sessions, particularly in managing chronic illnesses. Yoga activities were also conducted along the dedicated 'Yoga Street' on BRTS Road, which had been operational for the past month as part of the campaign. Vijayawada youth organised a session at Gandhi Stupa on Gandhi Hill, showcasing advanced yoga poses. Similarly, Dr P Krishnaiah, chairman of the AP Pollution Control Board, led a yoga session with staff at Municipal Park in APIIC Colony, where participants were served naturopathic snacks under the guidance of Dr Mantena Satyanarayana Raju. Additionally, yoga was practiced in schools across the state, where students and teachers began their day at 7 am with an hour of yoga to mark the occasion.
