It was an overachieving year for the Ohio State softball team this past season. Despite losing a lot of key players, new head coach Kirin Kumar was able to lead the team to an offensive explosion in which the Buckeyes led the country in home runs, runs scored, and a few other categories. OSU ended up tying for third place in the Big Ten and found its way into the NCAA Tournament.
Now, the trick will be to continue that momentum and continue the climb in the Big Ten and nationally. To do it, Ohio State will have to navigate a Big Ten schedule that now includes West Coast power teams like UCLA and Oregon.
This past week, the Big Ten unveiled the conference schedule for the 2026 softball season, so we got a look at who the Buckeyes will play next season and where they will do it. Ohio State will host four home series in the conference and hit the road for four others. Here's how it'll all look next season.
Ohio State 2026 Big Ten Softball Schedule
March 6-8, 2026: Iowa (Columbus, Ohio)March 13-15, 2026: at Purdue (West Lafayette, Ind.)March 27-29, 2026: Michigan State (Columbus, Ohio)April 3-5, 2026: at Minnesota (Minneapolis, Minn.)April 10-12, 2026: at Michigan (Ann Arbor, Mich.)April 17-19, 2026: Penn State (Columbus, Ohio)April 24-26, 2026: at Oregon (Eugene, Ore.)May 1-3, 2026: Washington (Columbus, Ohio)
It's still a long time before we see any of these games, but it's nice to see how everything will look next year. The nonconference schedule will be released at a later day.

Will Howard talks about learning from Aaron Rodgers in Pittsburgh

Howard expressed gratitude for Rodgers' willingness to help and acknowledged the value of learning from his experience. Ohio State National Championship-winning quarterback Will Howard was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in April. And while Buckeye fans are excited to see how he will do in the NFL (except maybe against the Browns), Steelers fans are looking forward to the potential of their new quarterback. Howard, as part of being an NFL quarterback, recently did a pretty long interview with Brian Batko of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The whole interview is interesting and gives good insight into how Howard is relating to his new Pittsburgh community (I'll embed the entire video at the bottom of this piece), but what stood out the most is how he is learning from Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers, of course, is expected to do unprecedented things as a 42-year-old quarterback for the Steelers after his New York Jets career was derailed by an achilles injury. Regardless of how he turns out as a starter for Pittsburgh, though, he'll also be a mentor for Howard. Howard started by talking about the fact that Rodgers sat down next to Howard at team meetings in mini-camp. That seems to have got their relationship off on the right foot. Howard describes them as having a "good vibe." And while there's a lot in the interview (the part about Rodgers starts at about 11 minutes into the interview if you watch), one section really stood out. Howard said, "Aaron's been just so willing to help me. He's like, 'Literally, as much or as little as you want me to help you, like, I'll be there.' He's already given me tips, little things here and there––even in the meeting room, on the field, in my drops, different little things. Obviously I can't do the things that he can do mechanically, so I don't want to replicate that too much because that's pretty, pretty unique. But, for the most part, everything I can learn from that guy is, you know, invaluable." Howard is excited to work and learn from Aaron Rodgers, and it really looks like Rodgers is ready to teach him. The whole interview is worth a watch (does contain some NSFW language).

Caitlin Clark grateful for WNBA All-Star Game fan voting support

The WNBA revealed on Friday that Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark leads the league in the first returns of WNBA All-Star Game fan voting. Fever teammates Aliyah Boston (No. 3), Kelsey Mitchell (No. 7) and Lexie Hull (No. 9) join Clark inside the top 10 of the initial fan voting returns. While Clark was clear it's not she and the Fever's end goal, Indiana's star guard shared her appreciation for the fan voting that she and her teammates have already received. "I mean, it is what it is, you know. People get so hyped up over that, but, you know, that's not why you play the game. I think it's a fun way to get the fans involved and really passionate about All-Star. It gets them excited. Makes them feel involved. It's a fun aspect to have, but you know, for us as players, that's not the reason you play, and it's really only 50% of the vote. "But it is cool, and it's also cool for me to see how much love my teammates also get. I think we have four in the top 10, so… You know, whether who ends up being an All-Star or not, it's still cool to see the type of love that you get from the fans," Clark said. The voting numbers' makeup is as follows: Fans account for 50%, while all current players and a media panel will account for 25% each. Through her seven games played this season, Clark averages 19.9 points, 8.7 assists, 5.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game on 41.7% shooting from the field, 35.5% from 3-point territory and 79.4% from the free throw line. It looks like the WNBA could be pacing for record fan voting numbers, which Clark is excited to see. "It seems like it's certainly going to set some sort of record for the amount of votes cast compared to last year, if I'm not mistaken. I feel like we're on track for that, which just shows how much engagement we're driving across the league for all different sorts of players and teams. "And, you know, that's exactly what the league needs, is people are excited about that type of stuff and wanting to be involved, feeling like their vote really counts, and feeling like they can make an impact on All-Star Games. So, it's really exciting to see, and hopefully as we continue to grow here year after year after year," Clark said. Per the WNBA's website, the fan voting window will close on Saturday, June 28, at 10:59 p.m. CT. Oregon football offers brother of 5-star OT Immanuel Iheanacho

The Oregon Ducks are hosting 5-star offensive tackle Immanuel Iheanacho on an essential official visit this weekend, hoping to get him on board and in the 2026 recruiting class before he leaves town at the end of the weekend. It appears that they are going the extra mile to do so, as well. On Sunday morning, it came out that the Ducks extended an offer to Michael Iheanacho, the younger brother of Immanuel. Michael is a member of the 2028 class, a 6-foot-2, 240-pound offensive tackle who is currently unrated by 247Sports. Meanwhile, Immanuel stands as one of the most significant players on Oregon's recruiting board in the 2026 class, rated as the No. 8 overall player in the class while standing at 6-foot-6, 345 pounds. He is considering Oregon alongside the Penn State Nittany Lions, LSU Tigers, and Auburn Tigers. Iheanacho has set a commitment date for August 5, but there is some speculation that he could end up announcing his commitment as soon as Sunday before his visit is over. If offering his younger brother — someone who could ultimately be a highly-touted recruit in the 2028 class — is something that will help push that decision along, then the Ducks made the right call in doing so.
