The anime took home awards for Best Action, Best Score, Best Ending Sequence, Best Main Character, Best New Series, and multiple voice performance honors alongside Anime of the Year.
The upset over Frieren's melancholic meditation on time, loss, and legacy, was met with outcry from segments of the anime community. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Hashira Training Arc won both Best Continuing Series and Best Animation — arguably deserved in the latter, but hotly contested in the former, especially given competition from long-running titans like One Pieceand Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War. Many have argued that the eight-episode arc lacked the narrative weight and scale of its predecessors, let alone its rivals.

Danny Boyle admits he won't make Slumdog Millionaire today due to this reason; responds to colonialism claims

English director-producer Danny Boyle would not make Slumdog Millionaire (2008) today. In an interview with The Guardian, the filmmaker admitted that it probably wouldn't even get financed and that he would look for a young Indian filmmaker to direct it instead. We have to look at the cultural baggage we carry and the mark that we've left on the world.' When asked if the production 'amounted to a form of colonialism', Danny denied it and said, 'Well, only in the sense that everything is. At the time, it felt radical. We made the decision that only a handful of us would go to Mumbai. We'd work with a big Indian crew and try to make a film within the culture. But you're still an outsider. It's still a flawed method. That kind of cultural appropriation might be sanctioned at certain times. But at other times, it cannot be.' When it comes to love, Celine is a genuine romantic. 'It' really hard to believe in love, especially in 2025, right? It's very hard to believe in love over money. And it's amazing, the idea that you can get rid of all your financial troubles by just marrying right. The fantasy is so amazing,' she remarked. The filmmaker stated that, 'But I think the greater fantasy is falling in love in a way that none of that matters.
