PDRM honours retired Miri officers with PJPN medals during welfare visits

MIRI (May 31): In a heartfelt gesture of appreciation, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) recognised the contributions of two retired officers during welfare visits led by Miri District Police Chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah.
The visits, conducted on May 30, were part of PDRM's continued efforts to honour its veterans, particularly those facing health challenges or unable to attend formal ceremonies.
The initiative reflects the force's enduring commitment to the well-being and dignity of its former personnel.
One of the honourees was Sergeant Mansoor Abdullah, a retired officer residing in Kampung Bukit Bom, Niah.
He received the Pingat Jasa Pahlawan Negara (PJPN) medal and certificate at his home after missing the official ceremony held on May 7 at Ruai Kenyalang, Miri District Police Headquarters.
The delegation also visited Corporal Jahawi Rosli, 80, at his residence in Kampung Dagang, Bekenu.
Corporal Jahawi, who has been undergoing dialysis treatment for over two decades, was similarly recognised for his service and received moral support from the visiting team.

According to a statement, the welfare visit was not only to present the medals but also to assess the retirees' current health and living conditions, offering reassurance and continued care to former members of the police force.
'These men have given their service and sacrifice to the nation, and it is our responsibility to continue honouring them, especially in their later years,' the statement read, underscoring PDRM's dedication to supporting those who have served with distinction.

Melaka teen with learning disability missing after searching for lost cow, K9 unit joins search and rescue efforts
MELAKA, June 6 — Muhamad Aidil Asyraf Fadli, a 15-year-old boy with learning disability, has been reported missing in a forest, after going to look for a missing cow in Kampung Permatang Pasir, yesterday evening. Melaka police chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said the search and rescue (SAR) operation also involved sniffer dogs from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) K9 Unit, but the search has yet to yield any leads. 'The K9 unit deployed to track his scent has not produced any positive results, and no clues have been found as to the victim's whereabouts. 'In fact, all of the cattle under the boy's care are found to be safe and accounted for,' he told reporters here today. Dzulkhairi said there are no visible signs or clues to indicate the victim's direction of movement, and the boy's mobile phone is believed to have been switched off, further complicating tracking efforts. 'As of this evening, the search efforts are ongoing, including combing nearby rivers and ponds. The operation will continue as long as necessary,' he said. Melaka Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) public relations officer Deputy Superintendent II Mohd Hafidzatullah Rashid said search efforts for Muhamad Aidil Asyraf began shortly after receiving an emergency call around 11.54 pm last night. 'The initial search was carried out around the cow shed area with assistance from the police and local residents until 1.35 am and resumed at 7 am today,' he told reporters at the scene. The SAR operation is led by Senior Fire Officer II Akhbar Abdol Karim, assisted by six firefighters from the Padang Temu Fire and Rescue Station. Meanwhile, the victim's mother, Siti Norehan Azhar, 38, said she realised that her second son out of six siblings, affectionately known as 'Gemuk', was missing when he did not return from his daily routine of tending to his uncle's 13 cows. Siti Norehan said she believes her son didn't go far, as he is not the type to loiter or hang out with friends and usually keeps to himself. 'Usually, his friends are the ones who visit him while he tends to the cows. Taiwanese Man Killed After Falling Onto LRT Track In Puchong
Subscribe to our FREE A typical Tuesday evening turned into a horror show for many commuters at the Bandar Puchong LRT station yesterday (3 June) when a male Taiwanese national in his 60s was believed to have fallen onto the Light Rail Transit (LRT) tracks, and was run over by a train. In a statement posted on Facebook, rail operator Rapid KL expressed regret and sadness over the incident that occured at 5.54pm, where the fire and rescue department, Royal Malaysia Police, and a medical team from Serdang hospital were on the scene. The victim's case was announced as 'sudden death' and his remains were transported to the Serdang hospital for post-mortem. Meanwhile, Rapid KL said it is fully cooperating with authorities and coordinating with the Taiwanese embassy here to support the victim's next of kin. The incident disrupted train services at Bandar Puteri, Pusat Bandar Puchong, and IOI Puchong Jaya stations, which all resumed operation at 8.52pm on the same night. This was not the first train tragedy for Rapid KL A visually impaired man suffered the same fate after falling onto railway tracks and was struck by a train at the Titiwangsa LRT station in Kuala Lumpur on 22 February this year. Back in 2018, a man died at the same Puchong station where the latest incident happened when he descended onto the tracks and got hit by an oncoming train. On social media, some commented on the safety of certain LRT stations where there are no barriers between the waiting area and the train tracks. 'I think it's time to install those automatic safety gates,' one user on Instagram said, referring to the safety doors that are used at Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) stations.
