Josie Gibson says 'I'll never diet again' after major health scare

Josie Gibson says she has tried 'extreme' diets in the past but has vowed not to mess with her body anymore after a 'health scare'. The This Morning host has been tucking into unusual foods for her new TV series The 1970s Diet for Channel 5.
But asked about her own dieting past, she said: 'I've been on the Cambridge Diet, and I ate about a week's worth of food on the way home from the meeting. Some people love it, but I just can't get on with it. I've done everything, I've taken diet tablets back in the day. I have done some extreme things, but I can't mess around with my body anymore. I cannot mess around with my metabolism, so I am where I am.'
Speaking to Closer magazine, Josie also spoke about changing her lifestyle habits which she hopes is making her a better mum to son Reggie, six.
She was told she might have gout after tucking into plates of food for her new Seventies series.
'I thought only kings like Henry VIII got gout. I was like, I'm a 40-year-old woman, this is really embarrassing,' she added.
In February, she also told This Morning viewers she had to take some time off after damaging her foot on holiday. A vanity unit came down on her foot leaving her on crutches.
So In the last few months she has cut back on work and tried to look after herself a bit more.
She explained: 'I got a bit of a health scare while filming this show, so it knocked me into submission a bit, I had to do something about myself. I've learnt more about my sleep as well, I had to track how many hours of sleep I was getting.
'I was living on four, five… six hours at a push but now I make sure I get eight or nine hours, and I feel like a totally different human being. I'm a better mum, I'm better at my job, I remember things a lot more. I try to walk a lot more than I did now, because I was so tired all the time I'd take the car everywhere.
'I've got more patience. Before I took on this experiment I spent too much time on my phone, being at home and cooking a home cooked meal was a complete luxury, I run around the country, I'm so busy trying to work everything out. Trying to be a mum, be on the road being a TV presenter, it was a lot. But now I'm getting better sleep, and I've said no to a lot of work for my own health benefits. I'm spending more time at home and I'm prioritising my son and my health. When I turned 40, I always said that was what I was going to do.'
Asked if it had made her a better mum, she added: 'Yeah, I reckon so because my patience and understanding are a lot better. I'm a better human being.'
Josie won Big Brother in 2010 and since 2019, she has been a regular segment presenter and announcer for ITV's This Morning, as well as a relief co-presenter from 2021.

Big Brother's Glyn Wise is set to be ordained a deacon as he trains to become a priest it was announced on Friday - almost 20 years after he appeared on the reality show. Glyn, who came second on the reality show back in 2006, first announced that he is was in the process of training to be a catholic priest in his native Wales back in 2022. During a service at St Asaph Cathedral, north Wales, on Saturday June 28 he will be formally recognised and commissioned. He will then continue his training to be a priest in the Aled Mission Area around Old Colwyn and Betws yn Rhos, the diocese of St Asaph reports. The former reality star has completed a 770km walk from the French Camino to Santiago de Compostela in Spain which took him 22 days. The 2006 series of Big Brother was hosted by Davina McCall and featured an array of famous housemates including Imogen Thomas, Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace and the late Nikki Grahame. Glyn previously admitted his decision to embrace Christianity and become a priest began after he lost himself to the whirlwind of publicity after his appearance on the hit reality show. The Welshman was just 18-years old when he appeared on the seventh series of Big Brother - then a hugely popular Channel 4 flagship - in 2006, finishing runner-up to winner Pete Bennett. Glyn, a Christian since birth, turned his back on public life, opting instead to devote himself to God. But he admitted to losing touch with his faith while being filmed 24-hours a day, and would often pray beneath the sanctuary of his duvet because he feared being mocked for his faith. He told MailOnline when he began his training in 2022: 'I had so much faith and determination to get a place on TV's biggest reality show. 'I prayed and as always – God was listening. He guided me through the audition process easily until I entered the show. 'Back in 2006, one in four of the population would watch reality TV. I prayed for God to guide me through the game show and eventually, after three months of being locked in a house I finished as runner-up. 'However, I prayed under the covers as I thought "being cool" was more important than being a Christian, which I heavily regret.' After spending his childhood in rural Wales, Glyn was quickly swept up by London's hectic party scene as he adjusted to life in the public eye following his appearance in the Big Brother compound. However he struggled to adapt to his newfound celebrity status and admits his devout attachment to Christianity was all but forgotten as he attended non-stop red carpet events, exclusive parties and premieres. He said: 'After the show, I was thrust into the spotlight. I was a guest on all UK TV and radio shows. I won a contract with a Calvin Klein modelling agency; I was a youth radio host for BBC Radio Cymru and I was given the tile of 'Ambassador of the Welsh Language' by Rhodri Morgan, Wales' first minster. 'I was invited to all sorts of parties and movie premieres – but deep down I felt lonely. During this period I left my faith behind. I had lost the real me in the middle of the glitz and glamour of fame. I needed to get back on track. 'I had become someone I hardly recognised, but yet everyone else felt as though they knew me.'

At first glance, it bears all the hallmarks of the 'cosy crime' boom – an English country town with the comfortingly bucolic name of Bakerbury, an amateur sleuth in late middle age, sundry bosy-bodies and bumpkins. But after a sickly-sweet, pastel-hued opening scene, it takes a sudden u-turn to a rain-sodden graveyard, where the shoeless body of a young woman has been found, murdered. And the jarring notes don't stop there. But when we first encounter her, she is slumped asleep in her car after a drunken night out – thinking nothing of drink-driving through the lanes surrounding Bakerbury to her country home. And rather than being a quiet-as-a-mouse Marple type, content to fade into the background to observe the dark doings of those around her, ex-pat Scot Cora bustles around making herself persona non grata at the local police station, invading the privacy of grieving parents and poking around the crime scenes. Throw in a liberal sprinkling of effing and jeffing, Cora's habit of sparking up a gasper whenever she feels a bit stressed, and a liking for chunky necklaces and bright knitwear and The Puzzle Lady comes on as a cross between Prue Leith and Taggart. Bakerbury, meanwhile, is hardly the Cotswold-stone idyll of Midsomer, or the medieval chapels of Cambridge. It seems more like a down-at-heel market town, with a pee-stained multi-storey car park and a sink estate on the edge of town populated by track-suited yobbos. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad The main thing about this murder-mystery, however, is that it finds it hard to sustain interest over its two -hour running time, stretching out the 'crossword clue on the body' mystery before discounting it, the various suspects being questioned and released, questioned and released, and everyone we run into seemingly fancying themselves as a detective. Except, of course, the actual detectives themselves, who are totally dependent on everyone else doing the police work while being shouted at by the dim local mayor in one scene every 15 minutes, regular as clockwork. Phyllis Logan does seem to enjoy playing Cora, though, and at least she is not the stereotypical grey-haired sleuth in pearls and twin-set. She loves knocking back the mid-morning bloody Marys, and you believe her when she lets slip the odd F-word, as if you can take Cora out of the Gorbals, but you can't take the Gorbals out of Cora. Condensed to a tight one-hour, Murder Most Puzzling would holds its own, but over two hours you can't ignore the inconsistencies in plot and tone which leaving you feeling slightly down and a bit cross.
