Truro City vs Plymouth Argyle ticket details for pre-season game
Plymouth Argyle fans will be able to buy tickets for the pre-season game away to 2024/25 National League South champions Truro City from Friday morning. The Pilgrims' first visit to the Truro City Stadium, which has been home to the Tinners since last August, will take place on Wednesday, July 16, with a 7.30pm kick-off. It will be an opportunity for the Green Army, especially those in Cornwall, to get an early glimpse of their team in action under new head coach Tom Cleverley. Advertisement Truro, whose assistant manager is former Argyle striker Stewart Yetton, pipped Torquay United to the National League South title on goal difference last term and will become the first ever Cornish side to play at Step One (the National League). Truro season ticket holders can buy theirs from 10am today while the general sale for home and away supporters will begin at 10am on Friday. Matchday prices will be £18, £15 and £11 respectively. Purchases can be made by the Truro official website: A Truro statement said: "Tickets will go on sale to home and away supporters separately, so sales and expectant numbers of fans can be monitored closely by Truro City. "At this stage, the club does not expect the fixture to be segregated, although defined home and away ticket sales will make this process straightforward to implement, should the need arise. "Truro City season ticket holders will have a priority window of 48 hours, from Wednesday, June 18 at 10.00am, to secure their tickets to this eagerly anticipated cross-Tamar clash. Advertisement "Fans that purchase a season ticket during the priority window, will be able to purchase their ticket for the Argyle game, before general sale starts at 10.00am on Friday, June 20. "All tickets for this match will be for general admission, with seats in the Eden Hot Tubs North Stand allocated on a first come, first served basis. "The club will be providing a full update on scheduled works that are taking place at the Truro City Stadium over the summer, including the expansion of the Eden Hot Tubs North Stand in due course later this week." Argyle have not played a pre-season game against Truro since July 2019 when they lost 1-0 to City at their former ground, Treyew Road, after a goal from ex-Pilgrims' striker Louis Rooney. Will Jenkins Davies joins Bath City after leaving Plymouth Argyle
Midfielder Will Jenkins Davies is joining National League South side Bath City after being released by Plymouth Argyle. It is a move which sees the 20-year-old reunited with his former Argyle under-18s head coach Darren Way, who was appointed as Bath's manager in December. Jenkins Davies has spent much of the last two seasons playing in National League South on loan to Torquay United from Argyle. Advertisement He made 21 starts and 13 substitute appearances for Paul Wotton's Gulls last term and scored six goals as they finished runners-up to title winners Truro City on goal difference. READ MORE: Wayne Rooney gave Tom Cleverley glowing reference about Plymouth Argyle READ MORE: Plymouth Argyle sign Xavier Amaechi to add to attacking options Jenkins Davies joined Argyle at the under-nine age group and made his first team debut in a 2-0 EFL Trophy group stage defeat away to Newport County in August 2021. Overall, he played 12 times for the Pilgrims' senior side, starting six games. What turned out to be his last match for the Pilgrims came against Tom Cleverley's Watford in a 2-0 Carabao Cup second round loss at Vicarage Road last August. Advertisement Way, whose Bath side finished 15th in National League South last season, is excited about the signing of Jenkins Davies. "It's a player I know extremely well, I worked with Will for four years while I was working at Plymouth," he said. "He's someone who has got a huge amount of talent. Twenty years of age, probably been a little bit unfortunate that he has not broken into the first team at Plymouth Argyle with them getting promoted to the Championship. He's very committed, he's a 24-hour professional, knows what the game demands and has got fantastic character and personality. "I think the supporters will like what they see. He's very attacking minded, box to box, got great energy, real desire and commitment to score goals, arrives in the box at the right time in the right place. I expect big things from him. "He scored a lot of goals with his head, off his left foot, his right foot, someone who is technically very good and I think he's a great addition to the squad." Advertisement Way added: "There was a huge amount of competition to sign him. I have built a great relationship with Will over a number of years and probably that was a massive selling point in him signing for Bath City. "I think the moment I left Plymouth Argyle I have stayed in contact with his agent, who I have to say has been fantastic throughout this process. He has always kept me updated of his situation. "Will had decisions he had to make and it's never easy when you are going through that process because he has been at Plymouth for a long time. There was a lot of hard work that has gone into getting him to sign." You can read more of our Argyle stories from Plymouth Live by clicking HERE

Tom Lapslie in the squad next year was something many were hoping for
Every Wednesday in the Herald Express, our Torquay United correspondent Richard Hughes takes a sideways look at what's going on in the world of the Gulls. This week, he looks at the legend of Tom Lapslie One look at new chief executive officer Mark Thomas' CV and you can see why he has been employed to take hold of the business side of Torquay United – but he's no Tom Lapslie! Advertisement While the appointment of Thomas and the recent signings of experienced players Manunhe Sundire and Louis Dennis are massive positives, I can't help feeling a bit annoyed that we haven't pushed the boat out to re-sign the legend that is Mr Lapslie, Tiger Tom, the skipper of the tucked-in shirt brigade, Mr 100%, Torquay Till I Die. READ MORE: Torquay United appoint new chief executive officer after international search READ MORE: Wetherspoons quietly axes another item from its menu OK. So I may be going a bit over the top here. But seeing Tom in the squad next year was something many were hoping was going to be a thing – and now he's gone and signed for Chelmsford City, who Torquay will take on again in the National League South next season. Advertisement We were so hopeful. And when Tom stayed in the bay after picking up an injury that kept him out for a year, he started training with the team towards the end of the season. Surely, surely, surely he would be a good option for Paul Wotton. Surely... And then that post on X from Chelmsford, announcing their new signing. I almost had a little cry. The Chelmsford website crowed about Tom. Tom crowed about Chelmsford. 'I'm absolutely delighted to be on board, it's going to be an exciting season. I can't wait to see all the fans in pre-season and get up and running once again. Get behind us this season and most importantly, up the Clarets!' Manager Angelo Harrop (yes, the son of former Torquay assistant manager Geoff Harrop!) said: 'I'm really happy we've managed to get Tom on board, he was one of our top targets this summer. 'He is a player that I know well from his time at Colchester United, I've followed his journey over the past few years. He's a serial winner and will be a big part of the new era and a big part of the project.' Advertisement A serial winner! Yes. In that bad year when Torquay dropped out of the National League – and in the following horrific season in the NLS – it became a thing: We didn't win if Tom wasn't playing. Of course, there will be reasons why Tom has gone back to Essex, where he played with Colchester United before joining the Gulls. Not least because Wotton has brought in a competitive midfielder and wants a smaller squad this season. The Torquay manager is a fan of the player as a person and asked him to go with the squad to Hemel Hempstead Town on the last day of the season, when the Gulls could have, but didn't, win promotion. Perhaps the lure of life back on the east coast was too much for Tom and his family. Perhaps it was fitness. Whatever the reason – legends come and legends go. Just don't come back and haunt us, Lapse. Another player leaving us this week was Oscar Threlkeld, who was placed on the transfer list by Wotton after a season of disappointing performances. The signing of Threlkeld last summer was supposed to be a good one. The midfielder came with vast experience and was handed the captaincy. But it just didn't work out for one reason or another – and the former Plymouth Argyle man has been released from his contract to seek an opportunity elsewhere. Sam Dreyer could be wearing that captain's armband next season then, after wearing it when Threlkeld wasn't in the team last season – after the big news that the much-admired centre-back has signed a year extension to his current deal. Brilliant stuff.
