WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg has finally opened up about one of the most controversial incidents of his wrestling career - the accidental kick that led to Bret "The Hitman" Hart's premature retirement.
Over two decades later, the former Universal Champion has expressed deep remorse over the incident that has long strained relations between two of wrestling's biggest legends
Wrestling legend opens up about deepest regret
Speaking to JAKIB Sports, the 58-year-old Goldberg did not shy away from discussing the infamous Starrcade 1999 match where his stiff side kick left Hart concussed. The injury would ultimately cut short Hart's in-ring career.
'I kicked Bret Hart in the head on accident a hundred years ago, and I've been remorseful ever since,' Goldberg admitted.
'I was young in the business. People make mistakes, right? And people have to understand that.'

While Hart has never forgiven Goldberg, even calling him an 'unsafe worker' in past interviews - Goldberg insists the kick was unintentional. He emphasized his respect for Hart and the other veterans who helped guide him in the early days of his career.
'I was lucky to start my career around legends like Curt Hennig, Kevin Nash, the Steiner Brothers, Hogan, Flair, and Bret Hart himself.

These were people who took time to help me out. I would never take advantage of anyone in the ring.'
Despite the lasting controversy, Goldberg remains unapologetic about his aggressive in-ring style, likening himself to Mike Tyson. 'I was Tyson. I smashed people and left. I didn't want to be like every other wrestler who did chain holds and high spots.'
Hart, however, has held firm in his criticism, at one point rating Goldberg's in-ring skills as '0 out of 10.'
The animosity between the two has stood the test of time, and a reconciliation appears unlikely.
While reflecting on his past, Goldberg is also looking toward the future - or at least, one final chapter. WWE has confirmed that the veteran will take on World Heavyweight Champion Gunther in his farewell match. The bout is set for Saturday Night's Main Event on July 12 in Goldberg's hometown of Atlanta, Georgia.
The match is expected to be a blockbuster, pitting one of WWE's most iconic finishers against the reigning powerhouse of the modern era. As Goldberg steps into the ring for the last time, fans are hoping the ending will be a fitting one - free of regret.

Sudhanshu Pandey slams Apoorva Mukhija for 'highly inappropriate' tone towards Ashish Vidyarthi: ‘Jab aapki zubaan kharaab ho jaaye na...'
Anupamaa actor Sudhanshu Pandey has called out influencer Apoorva Mukhija, popularly known as The Rebel Kid, for her dismissive comment about veteran actor Ashish Vidyarthi on the reality show The Traitors. During a recent Instagram Live, Sudhanshu said he found her tone 'highly inappropriate' and far from respectful. Referring to Apoorva 's remark—'Mujhe lagta hai Ashish jaayega' (I feel Ashish will be eliminated)—Sudhanshu questioned the casual manner in which she spoke about a senior artist. 'Is he your childhood friend or what?' he asked bluntly. Sudhanshu takes on Apoorva's tone about senior actor Sudhanshu clarified that he wasn't trying to vilify Apoorva as a person. 'I'm not saying she's a bad person. She's a good kid. I'm sure she has a good heart too,' he said. 'But jab aapki zubaan kharaab ho jaaye na, toh wo sab kuch kharaab kar deti hai.' (When your words turn foul, they ruin everything.) He explained that no matter how popular someone is, basic respect for senior professionals should not be compromised. 'Everything else goes for a toss if you do not have the know-how about what to say, and how to speak, about people who are senior to you,' he added. Calls out Gen Z behaviour, cites his own kids as contrast Sudhanshu also addressed the larger cultural issue of how Gen Z engages with elders, stating that such behaviour reflects poorly on the younger generation. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Thị trường có dấu hiệu suy thoái không? I think this is the biggest bullsht, and it's like a curse on our society,' he said in the Live. Drawing a parallel from his own family, he shared, 'Even I have kids, and even they are Gen-Z and they are extremely respectful to other people. So I am sorry, I think there are a lot of problems.' Sudhanshu emphasised that Ashish Vidyarthi, whom Apoorva casually referred to, is a veteran actor and highly respected in the industry. 'Ashish bhai is very senior to me as well. So, behind my back, she was talking about Ashish bhai, and saying, 'Mujhe lagta hai Ashish jayega,'' he reiterated.
