‘PM coming to Bihar not for welfare but to seek votes,' says Prashant Kishor

Jan Suraaj Founder Prashant Kishor on Friday criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Bihar, claiming it was not aimed at the state's development but solely focused on securing votes for the BJP-led NDA alliance. Speaking to ANI, Kishor said, "PM is not coming for the first time... PM Modi is not coming for the welfare and development of Bihar but to seek votes for the BJP and NDA." Kishor questioned the Prime Minister's claims about new development projects in the state, pointing out that some of the initiatives were already functional. "The locomotive factory is already there in Marhowrah; it is nothing new," he said, referring to the manufacturing unit often highlighted in government speeches. "PM should speak on the sugar mill which is closed there," he said. He added that residents of Bihar have grown disillusioned over the years due to repeated unfulfilled promises. "For the last 10-12 years, people have seen that announcements are made but nothing happens," he stated. "PM should tell when the migration of children from Bihar will stop," he demanded. On Thursday, Prashant Kishor slammed PM Modi's visit to Bihar, labelling it political campaigning funded by the state's taxpayers. Speaking in Gopalganj, Kishor criticised Modi's third visit in two months, alleging a pattern by the NDA-BJP government to use government resources for electioneering. "Prime Minister is coming here (to Bihar) for the third time in the last two months. Just like we said the last time, this is a set pattern of the NDA-BJP Government that, wherever elections are due, the PM comes there as the government visit and does political campaigning. The same is happening in Bihar as well. We saw this in Madhubani too," Kishor said. He urged PM Modi to address Bihar's persistent migration crisis, noting that lakhs of Bihari youth vote for the BJP due to Modi's appeal but are forced to seek work in states like Gujarat." People want the PM to tell them when migration from Bihar will stop... It is time to ask PM Modi why factories are set up just in Gujarat and not in Bihar. Why is it only the youth of Bihar who go to Gujarat to labour?" Kishor added, pointing out that the NDA governs both the state and the Centre. Bihar elections are expected to be held later this year in October or November; however, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has not announced an official date. (ANI)

Prashant Kishor will be CM face of Jan Suraaj in Bihar assembly elections, says party

PATNA: Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) national president and former Purnea MP Uday Singh alias Pappu Singh on Thursday revealed that Prashant Kishor would be the chief ministerial candidate of the party in the upcoming Bihar assembly election. Kishor is the founder of JSP. JSP's national president's statement is in contrast of Kishor's stand on the issue as the latter has repeatedly said that he was not in the race for the CM's post. It has to be seen how Kishor responds to his party chief's statement as the former is currently on 'Bihar Badalo Yatra', ahead of the assembly elections. Singh claimed that a wave of change was sweeping entire Bihar, and it could also be felt easily, adding that people from different villages were joining JSP. 'People are posing faith in the leadership of Kishor', he said, adding JSP was more a movement aimed at reforming society than a political party. He alleged that all political parties were only interested in power, as the state's deplorable condition was also due to it. Singh also attacked Bihar chief minister and JD(U) supremo Nitish Kumar by claiming that migration from the state had not stopped despite the JD (U) leader being at the helm for the last 20 years.

PM Modi fooling people of Bihar: Prashant

Patna, June 17 (UNI) Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor on Tuesday charged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been befooling people of Bihar during his every visit to the state. Kishor, during his "Badlao Yatra" in Gopalganj district of Bihar, told media persons that PM Modi had been befooling people of Bihar during his every visit to the state in election year. Even during 2015 Bihar assembly elections, Modi had promised special package of Rs 1.25 lakh crore to the state, but it was never fulfilled, he pointed out. "In election year, PM Modi is visiting Bihar almost every month and making tall promises, but no effort is being made to fulfil the same," Jan Suraaj leader said and informed that huge amount was being spent for making arrangements during his visit. People of Bihar were coughing up to bear expenses of PM's visit to the state, he added. Kishor stated that high-tech cottages were being made with huge expenses for short stay of leaders who would arrive to welcome PM Modi at the venue in Siwan on June 20. People of Bihar had seen true face of PM Modi and they would not fall into his trap again during Bihar assembly elections, slated for October-November this year, he remarked. UNI KKS NST SS

Criticise Lalu Prasad over Ambedkar's portrait placed at his feet: Prashant Kishor challenges Rahul Gandhi

Claiming that the RJD has subordinated itself to the RJD in Bihar, former poll strategist Prashant Kishor on Sunday challenged Rahul Gandhi to criticise Lalu Prasad for having a portrait of Ambedkar placed at his feet. Kishor, whose fledgling outfit Jan Suraaj Party seeks to make a splash in the upcoming Bihar assembly elections, addressed a press conference in the district of Muzaffarpur. Replying to a query on the Congress' prospects, Kishor, who had sought to join that party before launching Jan Suraaj campaign, said 'The Congress has reduced itself to a sidekick of the RJD in Bihar. Earlier, the state Congress was beholden to Lalu Prasad, now it is the turn of (younger son and heir apparent) Tejashwi Yadav'. The 47-year-old added, 'I ask Rahul Gandhi to do a small thing to prove me wrong. Let him issue just one statement criticising Lalu Prasad for having a portrait of Ambedkar placed at his feet'. Kishor also lashed out at the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha for 'never taking to task Chief Minister of Telangana, where the Congress is in power, for mocking people of Bihar with the statement that menial jobs were in their DNA'. The Jan Suraaj Party founder also demanded the resignation of state health minister and senior BJP leader Mangal Pandey over the recent death of a minor Dalit girl, hailing from Muzaffarpur, who succumbed to injuries days after a brutal sexual assault. Kishor also took potshots at senior minister and JD(U) national general secretary Ashok Choudhary who has sued him for alleging that the latter's daughter Shambhavi, the MP from Samastipur, got the ticket from Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) of Union minister Chirag Paswan, after money changed hands. 'Ashok Choudhary and his daughter should tell the people of Bihar what they have done for Dalits. They have always used their Dalit identity to their own advantage', the Jan Suraaj Party founder alleged.
