Rookie Tushar Pannu sets the bar at five-under 31 on day one of PGTI NEXGEN
Ludhiana, June 17 (UNI) Rookie Tushar Pannu of Karnal set the bar at five-under 31 on day one
of the fifth event of the PGTI NEXGEN season being played at the Imperial Golf Estate here on Tuesday.
The 21-year-old Pannu enjoyed a one-shot lead.
Kushal Singh of Gurugram returned a four-under 32 to be placed second after round one.
The Imperial Golf Estate is a par-72 nine-hole course where the nine holes are played twice to comprise a round. However, due to a rain delay on Tuesday, the first round of the tournament comprised only nine holes instead of 18 with the par for the course being 36.
Tushar Pannu's hot putter ensured he led the field on the opening day with an error-free round. Tushar drained an eagle on the sixth hole along with three birdies on Tuesday, all coming as a
result of conversions from a range of 12 to 15 feet. He also made a great par-save on the fourth
after an erratic tee shot.
Kushal Singh too shot a bogey-free round as he was close on the heels of the leader at 32.
Karnal's Rohit Narwal, Panchkula-based Abhishek Kumar and Chandigarh's Vasu Sehgal were
tied for third place at three-under 33.

India's test against Belgium, as both men & women team take on hosts

Speaking about the upcoming game, Women's Captain Salima Tete expressed, "While we had two close matches against Australia and took Argentina to a penalty shootout in our last match, it was our 1-4 loss against Argentina in the previous match that gave us most insight into where we need to strengthen our game further and that is what we worked upon in our last match and take forward for our match against Belgium." "Last year, during our previous encounter against the Belgium Team, we didn't give them any easy wins, and we're now taking our learnings from those matches and our recent encounters against Australia and Argentina to go all out against them again and hopefully win," she said. The Indian Men's and Women's Team will take on Belgium in a double-header on June 21 and 22. Leeds, June 21 (UNI) Rishabh Pant etched his name in the record books yet again as he struck a blistering century against England at Headingley, helping India script a historic moment — the fourth instance of three Indian batters scoring hundreds in the same Test innings outside Asia. Pant's unbeaten century, brought up in trademark style with a one-handed six off Shoaib Bashir, followed sublime hundreds by young openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and skipper Shubman Gill. The trio's centuries marked a rare and elite achievement for Indian Test cricket abroad. Gill-Pant stand power India past 450, but Eng hit back
Leeds, June 21 (UNI) Rishabh Pant lit up Headingley with a brilliant counterattacking century, his seventh in Test cricket, as India powered their way past 450 on Day 2, only to see England claw back with late wickets. At lunch, India stood at 454 for 7 in 108.4 overs, after England chose to field on the opening morning of the 1st Test. India resumed Day 2 in full control, and the first 90 minutes belonged entirely to the visitors. Pant and Shubman Gill continued from where they left off on Day 1, adding quick runs with flair and purpose. The 4th-wicket stand between them swelled to 209, setting the tone for India's dominance. Pant, ever the showman, was at his mischievous best — treating the Headingley spectators to a mix of audacious strokeplay and pure theatre. He brought up his century with a six over wide midwicket off Shoaib Bashir, then marked it with a celebratory somersault.
