SASKATOON BERRY (9) is a valuable mare for later on by virtue of the fact that her third dam is Regimental Gal. This daughter of Impending remains winless after 27 starts but has placed eight times and 'goes' on any ground. Will get there one day and this could be it. DARK STRATUM (2) is a city placed mare from her Richard Litt era. First run up this way had merit. CLEVER ILLUSION (1) is highly consistent.

RACE 2: Jesse Riley Hcp 1205m
COOL MOON (1), like Cool Archie, is by Cool Aza Beel and was born at Newhaven Park. This Gold Coast-housed filly has finished runner-up at two of her three starts (one to Sunrays) and resumed with a solid fourth at Doomben. ISSY'S STAR (8) is a Kris Lees filly who was runner-up in the Red Crown on debut to a classy Sydney two-year-old, Raging Force. TOI TOI (12) and ARCHIE MAXIMUS (3) have claims in a quality line-up.
Bet: Cool Moon to win, quinella 1, 8

PIEDI VELOCI (3) is a really likeable mid to long term prospect for local trainer Donna Grisedale. The son of Supido is yet to place in his three starts but all were good to varying degrees. Once he wins one, he could really get on a roll. OL' MATE COOP (5) has drawn wide here but it might not matter as much, depending on any early pattern. Whatever the case, he's the one with the best form in the race. HEZANUFF (2) wouldn't have to improve a lot on his 'norm' to win.

DIVA ROUGE (3) will be the third of her father, Red Henno's, offspring to race. One has won (and like a good horse), the other was placed. Jake Hull trains those two and he's got this one too. Trialled really well and gets Ben Looker from a good alley. DIZZY DEE (4) has run more good races than bad. She resumes here off two trials, winning the June 9 one with Jett Newman. I'M GUESSING (6) won a trial that same day herself. In good hands.
Bet: Diva Rouge to win

DESERT COUGAR (7) is a stablemate and half-sister to Lisztomania. This daughter of Capitalist was building up to that first win at Tamworth on May 20 and was most emphatic. Had plenty of reasonable excuses for the ninth of 12 at Grafton after that. Long story short, back to 1006m, is a big plus. Expect better this time. DIAMONDSAREMIO (1) has run maybe one 'bad' race in her eight starts this far. She deserves a lot of praise for her third at Moree behind Starry Jack.
Bet: Desert Cougar to win

OSTRACISED (7) has been around. He started off with Team Hawkes in Victoria then went to Kody Nestor, Cody Morgan, Bjorn Baker and now Donna Grisedale. There was a time when he was being looked upon as a Country Championships and even Kosciuszko contender. Fast forward to the present and he's had his hoof on the till for a little while now. Ostracised was runner-up to his stablemate Mallee Boy Express last start and you'd have to say he won on his merits.
Bet: Ostracised to win, Daily Double 1st leg 7, 2nd leg 9

GOLDEN HONOUR (2) was a $220,000 Easter Yearling in 2021. Skip ahead to September 2023 and Glen Milligan bought the horse online for $13,000. He's been a great investment for Milligan who has won four races (and five placings) since then. Won 15 days ago with 60.5kg on a Heavy 9. RONNY ROCK ART (1) failed in town last start but go back two before that and he was only a length and three-quarters off Piggyback at Warwick Farm.
Bet: Golden Honour to win, box trifecta 1, 2, 4, 16

EXOREALM (9) has raced seven times on Good and Soft tracks for no wins, no placings. However, the son of Exosphere has raced on Heavy twice for easy Taree Maiden win and a Taree Maiden third. This will be his second run for Sally Taylor who must have been thrilled with the first one; that fourth back on Jan 31. Trialled well on June 9. TELEGRAPH (1) won a very strong Benchmark 66 on June 5 at Taree. On top of that, the Tony Ball-trained gelding won his maiden at this same track and trip.

Training partners Patrick and Michelle Payne claim a winning quartet at Flemington on Saturday
Jimmy The Bear delivered a landmark Flemington four-timer for sibling co-trainers Patrick and Michelle Payne with victory in The David Bourke (1620m). The consistent gelding made amends for a last start Flemington defeat with a strong performance under rising star apprentice jockey Tom Prebble, who sealed a running treble with the win. Michelle Payne hailed the Flemington milestone as 'a huge team effort'. 'Patrick has worked so hard at home with everybody, it's a huge team effort,' Payne said. ' Jimmy is the stable favourite, so beautiful to do it with him.' Earlier on the card, Payne saddled winners Buccleuch, Stop The Rock and Bold Soul. Patrick Payne trained four provincial winners previously at Mildura in 2022. The four-timer bettered Michelle Payne's best efforts in the saddle before she turned her hand to training. 'I nearly rode the quaddie legs at Bendigo one day,' Payne laughed. 'I got pipped on the post, so three sadly.' Payne praised the 'beautiful' rides of Billy Egan (Buccleuch and Stop The Rock) and nephew Tom Prebble (Bold Soul and Jimmy The Bear) at Flemington. Prebble rated Jimmy The Bear nicely three back the rail but needed galloping room in the straight. 'Beautiful ride by Tom, he didn't panic,' Payne said. 'Obviously he had to guide him through a tight run and the horse just did the rest.' Jimmy The Bear is set to advance to the Listed Winter Championship Series Final (1600m) at Flemington on July 5. 'All going well, I can't see why not,' Payne said. 'He's training on beautifully and today was a really effortless win.' Prebble enjoyed riding another winner for the family. 'He put his best foot forward today and he was super,' Prebble said. 'He's a big horse, I knew he would be able to push his way out if I needed to, but had to wait for the race to unfold, Flemington is a beautiful track and usually every horse does gets its chance.' Casino Seventeen, the 2024 Perth Cup winner, finished off well to run second in The David Bourke at his first start in Melbourne for Cranbourne trainer Gavin Bedggood. Holymanz and Pounding rounded out the top four. Earlier, Payne enjoyed the win of progressive three-year-old Stop The Rock. 'He's a lovely horse, he's a real sleeper actually,' Payne said. 'All of his trials before he raced were pretty moderate and Patrick put the blinkers on his first start and he won at good odds at Warrnambool, he just seems to step up to the mark on race day.'

Headley Grange, racing's 'Mr Reliable', has surged through his grades this season and is now a stakes winner after he scored at Royal Randwick on Saturday. Trainer Joe Pride's talented sprinter has forgotten how to run anything but at his very best as he claimed the Listed $200,000 Civic Stakes (1400m). SUBSCRIBE NOW! 'It's crazy,'' Pride said when asked to comment on Headley Grange's remarkable consistency. 'He was good again, it was nice to see him step up that higher grade today. 'It was a tough win and that's never easy to do in a high pressure race with plenty of opposition. 'But he's a quality horse and he has come through the grades really well.'' Headley Grange, confidently baked into $2.45 favouritism, gave Jason Collett the third leg of a winning treble when he comfortably held off Welwal ($26) to win by a half length with Astero ($51) three-quarters of a length away third. The Bjorn Baker-trained Raikkonen ($5) settled outside Headley Grange early but then lost his position when stablemate Iknowastar came across in front of him. Raikkonen then ended up on the rail behind Headley Grange but when the winner eased away from the inside to make his finishing run, Baker's sprinter stayed close to the inside and rallied late to finish an unlucky fourth. But Headley Grange was a deserving winner - and he's not finished yet. Pride revealed plans to set Headley Grange for the South Grafton Cup (1600m) on July 13. The South Grafton Cup is one of a series of races where the winner is eligible to gain a start in the $3 million The Big Dance (1600m) at Royal Randwick on the first Tuesday in November. • It's A Knockout stuns rivals with dominant victory 'He's come back particularly well this preparation and we will go to the South Grafton Cup next,'' Pride said. 'We will try and qualify him for one of the Dances.'' Headley Grange has now scored successive wins to start his winter campaign after a brilliant first-up effort over 1300m at Royal Randwick two weeks ago. 'I don't think he was quite as sharp today as he was off that hot tempo the other day,'' Pride said. 'Maybe just second up he was a little bit vulnerable today but I would say he will bounce out of this win. 'I don't know if his best trip is 1400m or a mile (1600) yet. We want it to be a mile as there are not as many races around for 1400m races.'' Collett, who completed his treble on Headley Grange after his earlier wins on Callistemon and Lulumon, wasn't legged into the saddle on the Pride sprinter until the Civic Stakes field came out onto the track. Pride, who trained a double in successive races when Accredited won the closer, had made application to Racing NSW stewards to have Headley Grange walked out riderless from the Theatre of the Horse to the course proper. 'At the end of last preparation and again last start, when the jockey mounted Headley Grange he started to suck back and play up a bit in the yard,'' Collett explained. • Brave One's wide run no obstacle in Randwick triumph 'Joe asked the stewards if he could have me legged on last and be last onto the track and that way he is always moving forward and not in that environment. It worked as he was able to stay relaxed.'' The Civic Stakes proved an easy watch for Headley Grange backers as Collett gave the ever-consistent sprinter the smoothest of rides. 'The tempo was solid through the middle section and I had a horse travelling 'lovely' when the opportunity arose pretty early in the straight to pop off,'' Collett said. 'I did although it was a long way from home, especially at that tempo, but he just found another gear. 'When they came to him at the 150 (metres) he went again so that's a really good sign.'' Collett agreed with Pride's assertion that although Headley Grange's win wasn't as dynamic as his first-up effort, the rising five-year-old gelding showed there are better wins in store after he improved his race record to eight wins from 18 starts and nearly $600,000 prizemoney. 'The tempo of that race was different to last start,'' Collett said. 'It was genuinely run but Headley Grange has quickened off it and then he's had to tough it out. 'Both starts he has done it either way. Last start, a turn of foot and today he has had to show he was tough under pressure. They're great attributes to have – he's a really nice horse.'' Wagga preview, tips: Cross and Chung's next big hope

Trainer Bruce Cross and owner/breeder Malcolm Chung are best known via the deeds of the sensational siblings, Epsom winner Final Fantasy and Canberra Cup winner Padfoot Charlie. Now, a quarter of a century on, the pair may have themselves another 'good horse' from the very same 'vines' that produced their former dynamic duo. Her name is Just Like Tilda. The daughter of Divine Prophet created a lasting impression when finishing over the top of her rivals to score an impressive, bookie-busting, debut win at Kembla earlier this month when crunched from an opening quote of $6.50 into $4.80. Cross could be forgiven for talking up Just Like Tilda on the score of her debut but is playing down any hype. 'At the moment, I am holding my powder dry,' Cross said. Just Like Tilda is looking to make it back-to-back wins. 'Her win at Kembla was a good win and I think she has improved a little bit, but I'm just not prepared to put my head on the block yet. 'Sometimes you can put the cart before the horse and you get too excited. 'That's why we are prepared to take a bit of time with her and give her all the chances she deserves.' Cross revealed that he had toyed with the idea of a metropolitan start for Just Like Tilda, instead opting for a trip away down to Wagga. 'I thought about it but I was a little bit too scared that she would just get up in the benchmark system too quick,' Cross explained. 'I'm interested to see what she can do on Sunday and looking forward to it to be honest. 'We are going there with our glass half-full. Whatever happens, the trip away, the floating, that all improves a horse and it sort of adds another string to their bow. 'She is a very sensible little filly, we are going there hoping, we just have to wait for the outcome.' Just Like Tilda will be ridden the Easdown's Accountants Class 1 Handicap (1300m) by Deanne Panya; gun jockey and twin sister of Beany, both of whom spend their mornings at Cross' home ground, Warwick Farm. 'Deanne knows Just Like Tilda pretty well. She's ridden her in a bit of a work and in the trial. 'And to be honest, Deanne might have very well been on her when she won at Kembla except she was suspended. 'Deanne rode a winner (on Thursday) at Gosford, she is very underrated.' Just Like Tilda is the third foal of her dam Matilda Jade whose foaling date (September 14 in 2011) was the exact same day as Winx. Matilda Jade was bred and raced by Chung and trained by Cross but sadly, the daughter of I Am Invincible only raced once, finishing runner-up at Gundagai. 'We took her there thinking she would win easily but she got galloped on and severed a tendon so that was the only start she ever had,' Cross said. AL FLORES (5), the first foal of Coolmore Classic winning Dixie Blossoms, has had many chances. Many of us are still licking the wounds from her $1.55 loss at Goulburn the other day. Can atone but needs to win back a few fans. Bet: Hardly Fortunate each-way, quinella 5, 7, box trifecta 2, 5, 7, 12 ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ RACE 2: WDF ACCOUNTING & ADVISORY SUPER MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400m BADHATHARRY (2) is a rarity, maybe a one of a kind in present day times given he is out a mare by Harry Lawton's beloved Bureaucracy who won the George Ryder way back in 1991. He's also the damsire of Silent Witness. As for Badhatharry, he has had a textbook build-up to 1400m which he is crying out for. Michael Travers has three accepted here and all three could easily medal. MISS PEPEHA (10) is getting closer than ever to a win. His other one Stormy Malice wants 1400m. Bet: Badhatharry to win ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ RACE 3: RIDLEY WOOL CO CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE 1600m DOC MARCH (11) has been very costly indeed at his last three starts, one at Canberra and two here at home at Wagga. To be fair to the horse, because he is a nice horse, he hasn't been at all helped by wide barriers hence he's been getting way back but running on dutifully. DESERT OPAL (5) has a win, four seconds and a third from his 11 starts, His personal best came last start on May 27 when he won a 1400m Maiden at home at Albury on a Heavy 8. Reliable type, well up to this. Bet: Doc March to win, exacta 11 to beat 5 ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ RACE 4: RIVERINA SIGNMAKERS COUNTRY BOOSTED BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1200m CHRISTMAS STAR (2) races in the familiar colours of Shelley Hancox. This grey filly by Star Turn has finished on the podium at eight of her 12 starts. Only two are wins but looking back now, her losses, while costly at the time, were in races where the form has stood up since. Drawn one, should help. ELASTANE MISS (3) has done nothing wrong in her four starts; she won at Albury on a Heavy 10 and all the rest are seconds including one here at home. Third-up here; Blaike McDougall sticking for a third time too. Bet: Christmas Star to win, quinella 2, 3 ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ RACE 5: ICG CONSTRUCTION BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP- HEAT OF THE WAGGA STAYERS SERIES 2000m STAY TUNED (4) is a Paul and Martha Cave-trained gelding who makes his second visit to Wagga bearing in mind that he broke his maiden here almost 12 months to the day. Fast forward to now and the son of Prized Icon is off a closing second to Hooligan Tommy at Kembla. Ready for 2000m. AVONVIEW (6) is as fit as any horse racing on the card. Well placed apart from the draw. Any upgrade from Heavy could also assist. DANDRUFF (2) will stay all day and is one for one on Heavy. His last four starts are for Tim Fitzsimmons and are '1211'. That second by the way was at Bendigo by less than a neck. Big winner on the Heavy 9 at Mornington last time. Obviously Condor is flying, pardon the pun. MAJOR TIME (5) is a grand old campaigner from the Gratz Vella camp. He's got a good set of numbers across the board and as for each-way punters are concerned; he has won and placed at 34 of his 65 starts. Bet: Condor to win, exacta 3 to beat 5 ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ RACE 7: EASDOWNS ACCOUNTANTS & ADVISORS CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1300m JUST LIKE TILDA (1) was just so impressive winning on debut at Kembla when $6.50 into $4.40. Won with a lot of authority on the day demonstrating a high degree of race-smarts and quality. Deanne Panya knows her well, so does the trainer of course and he's set her a task that while not a total slam dunk, looks pretty close to it. Bet: Just like Tilda to win, exacta 1 to beat 5.
