Uddhav Thakeray holds dinner meet with Sena UBT MPs, MLAs to discuss preparations for Mumbai civic polls

Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray engaged in dinner diplomacy with all his MPs and MLAs from Mumbai late on Friday and asked them to hit the ground running for the BMC polls. With the BMC elections , slated for Oct-Nov, Uddhav asked all his MPs and MLAs from Mumbai to devote time to the party and take up people's issues with various authorities. All were asked to pay special attention to party activities. The Sena (UBT) has three Lok Sabha MPs from Mumbai and 10 MLAs. The dinner meeting was held at Bandra's Taj Lands End Hotel. Party functionaries said that with the monsoon sessions of Parliament and the state legislature starting soon, Uddhav told MPs and MLAs to take an aggressive stand against the BJP-led ruling coalitions at the centre and in the state. "Uddhavji asked all MPs and MLAs from Mumbai to take up issues and also take officials to task for failing to resolve people's issues. He focused on the importance of holding the state govt and other agencies like BMC accountable for lack of governance, infrastructure, and rural distress. He said these are ways through which the opposition can reclaim lost ground. He instructed all of them to actively participate in party work and outreach campaigns in their constituencies, urging them to focus on booth-level planning, voter list updating, and youth mobilisation," the functionary said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Perdagangkan CFD Emas dengan Broker Tepercaya IC Markets Mendaftar Undo On the tie-up with Raj Thackeray's MNS, Uddhav told the MPs and MLAs that they must prepare to fight BMC polls independently, but at the same time remain open to strategic tie-ups. Suvendu Adhikari slams Bengal govt for skipping Yoga Day, says

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], June 21 (ANI): On the occasion of International Yoga Day, West Bengal's Leader of Opposition and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari criticised the state government for not participating in the nationwide celebration. He alleged that while both NDA and non-NDA ruled states observed the day, West Bengal deliberately skipped it. Speaking to ANI, Adhikari said, 'NDA and non-NDA state governments are celebrating Yoga Day today, except West Bengal, because West Bengal follows Bangladesh. It does not follow Delhi. More than 180 countries are celebrating International Yoga Day today. As Indians, we are proud of this.' The sharp remarks came as International Yoga Day was celebrated across the country, promoting the physical and mental health benefits of yoga. Earlier on Saturday, senior BJP leader Dilip Ghosh said, 'Yoga is our country's heritage. We have given yoga to the world. It is a very good medium to keep the body healthy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi promoted it globally, and now yoga is being practised in about 200 countries, so the credit for this goes to Narendra Modi, who revived and promoted yoga in the world again.' Meanwhile, on the occasion of International Yoga Day, West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose highlighted how the practice of Yoga was earlier 'confined to India,' and the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to spread it internationally has led to people accepting it the world over. As part of the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading the effort to promote a healthy lifestyle while performing Yoga with others in Vishakapatnam. Meanwhile, multiple other Chief Ministers and Union Ministers are participating in Yoga events in their respective cities. 'Yoga is universal in nature. Yoga connects the mind and the body. This is something which belongs to the entire humanity. It was confined to India, but our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, took it to the whole world. Now it is for the world, and the world is accepting it,' Governor Bose told ANI. (ANI)

"Sukhu govt's mindset is anti-Sanatan": Jairam Thakur attacks Congress govt

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], June 21 (ANI): Himachal Pradesh LoP and former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Saturday launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu led Congress government, accusing them of fostering an 'anti-Sanatan' mindset and systematically targeting the Hindu population of the state. Thakur was addressing a press conference in Shimla alongside State BJP President Rajiv Bindal. 'Ever since the Congress came to power, incidents against Hindus have been on the rise in Himachal Pradesh. The Chief Minister himself had publicly spoken of defeating a party that represents the ideology of 97 per cent Hindus of this state. That statement has now become the government's operating mindset,' said Thakur. 'The case of a missing Hindu girl is nothing but love jihad. Shockingly, the police deliberately delayed registering an FIR despite repeated requests from the family. It was only after angry public protests that the girl was traced,' referring to a recent incident in Paonta Sahib, Thakur said. He alleged that the government responded to the public outrage not with justice but political vengeance. 'Cases under BNS Section 109 have now been registered against senior BJP leaders, including Dr Rajiv Bindal and former minister Sukh Ram Chaudhary. This is nothing but a case of political retaliation,' Thakur added. He said during the present Congress regime there were multiple incidents pointing to Anti-Hindu bias. The BJP leader said that this was not the first time the Congress government had displayed open bias against Hindus or attempted to stifle the voice of the opposition. 'In the Manohar murder case in Chamba, the government didn't allow opposition leaders to visit the spot. In Nahan, a Muslim youth from Saharanpur slaughtered a cow and shared the photos on social media yet no legal action was taken,' he said. Thakur also raised the issue of an illegal mosque construction in Sanjauli, a matter that had sparked national outrage. 'Despite the uproar, the Congress government chose to remain silent,' he said. The LoP alleged that the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh was turning a blind eye to serious issues like 'love jihad', illegal religious structures, and alleged cow slaughter. 'All of this reveals a deliberate anti-Sanatan intent. If the false cases filed against BJP leaders are not withdrawn immediately, we will launch a massive statewide agitation,' Thakur warned. Rajiv Bindal, who was present at the press conference, echoed these sentiments and said the government was resorting to vendetta politics instead of focusing on law and order. The BJP leadership has demanded immediate withdrawal of what they termed as 'false and fabricated' charges and warned of intensified protests if their demand is not met. (ANI)
