Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) chief
Uddhav Thackeray
engaged in dinner diplomacy with all his MPs and MLAs from Mumbai late on Friday and asked them to hit the ground running for the BMC polls. With the
BMC elections
, slated for Oct-Nov, Uddhav asked all his MPs and MLAs from Mumbai to devote time to the party and take up people's issues with various authorities.
All were asked to pay special attention to party activities.
The Sena (UBT) has three Lok Sabha MPs from Mumbai and 10 MLAs. The dinner meeting was held at Bandra's Taj Lands End Hotel.
Party functionaries said that with the monsoon sessions of Parliament and the state legislature starting soon, Uddhav told MPs and MLAs to take an aggressive stand against the BJP-led ruling coalitions at the centre and in the state.
"Uddhavji asked all MPs and MLAs from Mumbai to take up issues and also take officials to task for failing to resolve people's issues.
He focused on the importance of holding the state govt and other agencies like BMC accountable for lack of governance, infrastructure, and rural distress. He said these are ways through which the opposition can reclaim lost ground. He instructed all of them to actively participate in party work and outreach campaigns in their constituencies, urging them to focus on booth-level planning, voter list updating, and youth mobilisation," the functionary said.

On the tie-up with Raj Thackeray's MNS, Uddhav told the MPs and MLAs that they must prepare to fight BMC polls independently, but at the same time remain open to strategic tie-ups. He said that he already asked grassroots workers to get feedback from the people and apprise him of the people's mood.

Only urgent cases allowed during civil court vacations: HC

Dehradun: The Uttarakhand high court's (HC) senior judge Manoj Tiwari , presiding over a single-judge bench, rejected a petition seeking to request the lower court to hear an appeal during the summer vacation. The case originated when Nitin Arora filed for a permanent prohibitory injunction and a mandatory injunction. On June 5, with the Dehradun civil courts closed for summer holidays, he filed an appeal under section 96 of the Civil Procedure Code, along with an application under Rule 13 of the General Rules (Civil). The district judge declined the request, citing a lack of urgency to justify a vacation hearing. Thereafter, the petitioner approached the HC. Rule 13 stipulates that courts shall not hear cases on gazetted holidays unless both parties consent, except for urgent matters that require immediate attention. In the districts of Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar, one civil judge (junior division) and one civil judge (senior division) remain available on rotation throughout the vacation period. In other districts, a designated official is appointed to handle urgent cases. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Cervecería Nacional CFD: Calcula cuánto podrías ganar invirtiendo solo $100 Empieza a invertir Undo The HC emphasised that while the proviso to rule 13 allows civil courts to consider urgent matters during holidays, it does not confer an automatic right for litigants. The determination of urgency rests with the civil court's discretion. In its June 19 order, the court upheld the previous ruling by the district and sessions court, Dehradun, and concluded that the district judge had acted within their authority when finding insufficient urgency for a vacation hearing. The court found no grounds to interfere with that decision and dismissed the petition accordingly.

Memorial to be built in honour of Kharwar brothers: Jaiswal

Patna: State BJP president Dilip Kumar Jaiswal on Sunday said a memorial would be constructed in the state to commemorate contributions of two brothers from the Kharwar tribe, Nilambar and Pitambar, in the freedom struggle. Jaiswal announced this while addressing a convention of Kharwar tribe here. He also said a committee headed by members of Kharwar tribe would be set up to look into their problems, and follow up action would be taken to find solutions to them. Although the Kharwars are mostly found in the Bhagalpur and Munger divisions, their maximum concentration is in the Pirpainty assembly constituency of Bhagalpur district and Manihari in Kathar district. Both the constituencies, earlier, were general seats, but Pirpainty was later made a reserved seat for the scheduled caste people, and Manihari was designated as scheduled tribe (ST) seat. Incidentally, Kharwars were earlier put in the category of SC group, but after a long campaign and social mobilisation done by former CPI MLA of Pirpainty, Ambika Mandal, the Kharwar was notified as an ST group. Op Sindhu: 90 stranded Indians to arrive in Prayagraj today

Prayagraj: Around 90 people from Sangam City and nearby areas, including 20 members of a Dariyabad-based family, are expected to arrive in Prayagraj on Monday after being safely evacuated from Iran under Operation Sindhu. The group was previously stranded due to airspace restrictions. So far, over 1,400 Indian nationals have returned home from Iran under Operation Sindhu, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Sunday. The first batch of 110 Indian nationals evacuated from Iran arrived in India on Thursday, with many evacuees sharing first-hand accounts of the frightening situation they witnessed before being moved to safer locations. India had announced the launch of Operation Sindhu on Wednesday to bring back its nationals from Iran and Israel in view of the precarious security situation arising out of Iran-Israel hostilities. Breathing a sigh of relief, the Dariyabad family — whose 20 members were stranded in various cities across Iran for over 10 days — expressed its gratitude and shared that the Indian embassy officials have made comprehensive arrangements for their safe return. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Eat 1 Teaspoon Every Night, See What Happens A Week Later! [Video] getfittoday Undo Sameer Naqvi, a Dariyabad resident, shared the news that his mother and 19 other close relatives, who were stranded in Iran due to the ongoing conflict, are set to return home safely. After speaking with his family on Sunday, Naqvi confirmed that the Indian government and embassy officials have made arrangements for their safe return. Sameer said, "About 90 people from the city and adjoining regions, who were trapped in Iran for the past 10 days, are likely to reach New Delhi late Sundayor Monday morning, and they would then reach Prayagraj." Sameer expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Modi government for its tireless efforts to evacuate Indian citizens from war-torn Iran amid escalating tensions with Israel. He specifically thanked the embassy officials for their exceptional care and support. A 20-member Dariyabad-based family, including elderly individuals and two children, embarked on a pilgrimage to Iran on May 20. Their planned return date was June 13. However, due to the sudden escalation of tensions between Israel and Iran, their travel plans were severely disrupted. "All the families, whose members were stranded in Iran on their pilgrimage, are thankful to the Modi govt and embassy officials for taking better care of them in this time of crisis," said another family member, adding, "Embassy officials are constantly connecting with family members until their safe return is ensured." In a special gesture on June 20, Iran has lifted airspace restrictions for three charter flights to evacuate about 1,000 Indian nationals, mostly students, from the Iranian city of Mashad. Mohammad Javad Hosseini, the deputy chief of mission at the Iranian embassy, said more evacuation flights could be operated in the coming days to bring back Indians if required.
