Brit tourist shares hilarious hack for saving loungers in sunbed wars video - but can YOU spot it?
British holidaymakers have been captured racing to secure loungers in Benidorm as sunbed wars heat up - but one parent has been branded 'sad' for unleashing an eyebrow-raising tactic to bag a prized spot.
The chaotic scene unfolded at the Hotel Flamingo Oasis in the popular Spanish resort on 14 May, with dozens of sunseekers seen sprinting toward empty beds in the early morning as the pool area opened.
Sunbed wars have been raging across Europe over recent years - a trend that sees tourists compete for prime sunbathing spots at hotel pools and on beaches, often armed with towels and blankets to ' reserve' their place before returning hours later.
The peak season practice has spiralled in popular hotspots frequented by Brits, such as Spain and Turkey, with staff at hotels clamping down on 'sunbed hoggers' by hiring bouncers and introducing parking ticket-style systems.
But in one video, shared to TikTok by @lightworks89, a particularly cut-throat parent arrived at the pool, equipped with much more than a beach towel, to claim a prime spot.
Guests at the four-star hotel can be seen spilling out into the area and shrieking as they dash to dump their belongings on one of many empty loungers.
However, amidst the carnage, a young boy in orange shorts can be spotted weaving his way through the crowd and instinctively leaping horizontally across five loungers to secure them.
Over 6,000 viewers rallied together to share their astonishment in the comments, with many people branding the actions of the holidaymakers 'pathetic.'
One person wrote, 'Sad people. go on holiday for a week and never leave the sun lounger,' while another said, 'That is absolutely pathetic.'
A third commented, 'That's not a holiday. That's my idea of hell. It's not even sunny,' as a fourth added, 'Council estate with a pool. My idea of hell.'
Another wrote: 'So sad... should pay a small refundable deposit to allocate sunbeds to rooms. it's so embarrassing.'
One viewer was left amused by the frenzied scene, as they commented: 'I actually think this is class. The sunbed race is now part of the entertainment.'
Meanwhile, others took aim at the parent who had appeared to instruct their child to race ahead to claim several loungers.
One person said: 'I'm so glad I don't do cattle class holidays, I won't embarrass myself fighting for a sun lounger amongst the feral kids and drunken parents.'
A second wrote: 'This is actually sad. A child actually laying down to save beds. Some holiday. I'm so glad I take my kids out exploring rather than getting them to save me a sunbed, sounds fun.'
It comes as British holidaymakers were recently seen queuing for over an hour in a bid to secure the best poolside spots at a Canary Islands resort.

Sunseekers armed with towels, suncream, and flipflops were captured in bizarre footage on May 28 lining up for the pool at the Barceló Lanzarote Active Resort, Las Palmas, Spain.
Isabelle Hanssen, whose balcony overlooks the pool watched on at the pool goers eagerly waited in line.
According to the halfpipe skier, the queue is usually made up of Brits with a few Germans also standing in line.
Isabelle, from the Netherlands, also revealed that the queues start from as early as 8am despite the pool not opening until 9:30am.

Russell Crowe is reuniting onscreen with Henry Cavill, more than a decade after they acted with each other in the Superman film Man of Steel. However the series staggered on for the 1994 release Highlander III: The Sorcerer, a direct follow-up of the first film as if the events of the second never happened. There was also a TV series from 1992 to 1998, followed by the 2000 film Highlander: Endgame, which was a sequel to the show rather than to the previous movies. It feels like it's getting more and more expensive to go abroad, and many Brits are really feeling the pinch when it comes to their holidays. But there's a popular tourist hotspot where your pound will stretch further than anywhere else. Post Office Travel Money's Holiday Spending Report looked at how sterling is performing against its 30 bestselling currencies compared with 12 and three months ago. It reveals that visitors to Turkey from the UK will get the most for their money, due to the ongoing, long-term collapse of the Turkish lira. Over the past three months, the lira has fallen by 12.9 per cent against the pound. And, compared with last June, visitors can now expect to receive around £116 (+30.2 per cent) more when they buy £500 worth of lira. The report also reveals the sterling has bounced back against the US dollar and is currently 6.6 per cent stronger than it was a year ago, and has gained 4.9 per cent in the past three months. For £500, tourists will now receive almost £31 more of US dollars, than they would a year ago. However, the report found the Thai baht was one of only five of the 30 bestselling currencies to rise in value against sterling. A sterling year-on-year fall of 5.2 per cent means that British visitors will get £27.64 fewer Thai baht on a typical £500 currency transaction. Given that almost half (48 per cent) of holidaymakers said they will choose their destination based on the strength of sterling, two other Far Eastern destinations – Vietnam and Bali - will actually offer Brits more for their money. Visitors to Vietnam will get the equivalent of £42.01 – or 9.2 per cent extra - on a £500 purchase of Vietnamese dong. Those choosing Bali, fourth-placed in the barometer, can expect around £33 (7.1 per cent) more in Indonesian rupiah than a year ago. Laura Plunkett, Head of Travel Money at Post Office, said: 'This year's holiday spending research again demonstrates that holidaymakers don't always set a realistic budget and overspend by large amounts as a result. 'It's great to hear that holidaymakers are already planning to budget more for their holidays this year, to avoid coming unstuck when they arrive at their destination.'

The couple were told they were having twins just before Christmas, when they attended an early six week scan. Olivia told the panel: 'We went super early, I'm quite an anxious person anyway. When we turned up, we had our friend in the back of the car because we thought everything would be normal. 'As soon as we sat down I saw two babies and not one, I was floored by that. I have twins in my family and as soon as we found out I was already nervous as we've not had a great history of twins in our family.' The Love Island star broke down in tears as she revealed: 'One of the babies just basically didn't have a heartbeat but I'd had no symptoms, no pain, no bleeding to tell me that was what we were walking into. We were floored, we were expecting to have these two little babies.' The star had experienced vanishing twin syndrome, which occurs when one twin passes away in the womb and 'vanishes' and studies suggest happens in roughly 36% of twin pregnancies. Olivia heartbreakingly revealed that 'the one beautiful part of it' is that the babies do 'absorb back into your body' and that's what the couple have been 'holding onto'. The reality star continued: 'The baby had completely absorbed into my body at 14 weeks, just completely gone which is tremendously sad knowing they're still in there. 'I am so lucky to have experienced that moment of possibly having twins, it's something that not everyone gets to feel so even having those two little babies at that time.' Alex then emotionally chimed in with: 'I built this scenario up in my mind, I was thinking of the future. 'I thought it was 100% happening and I had come to terms with it. I never really had a big family, I'm an only child and have no contact with my dad so it was an amazing thing for me.'
