Time of India27-05-2025

Kolhapur: Nearly one lakh citizens from Kasba Bawda to Shiye rural area depend on the services of Sewa Hospital. Therefore, this hospital should be equipped for patient services.
A meeting will be organised at the ministerial level soon for construction of planned departments and buildings of Sewa Hospital, said state planning commission head
Rajesh Kshirsagar
on Monday evening.
Kshirsagar visited Sewa Hospital in Kasba Bawda to review its functioning, problems, and patient services. In a meeting organised on the occasion, he took stock of the problems of the citizens and also gave suggestions to the officials to improve patient service.
Deputy director Kolhapur Board Dr. Dilip Mane, District Surgeon Dr. Supriya Deshmukh, Medical Superintendent Sewa Hospital Dr. Neelima Patil, Kolhapur Municipal Corporation Deputy Commissioner N. S. Patil, Health Officer Dr. Prakash Pawara, and other officials were present.
Deputy director for Kolhapur Division Dr. Dilip Mane informed the meeting that permission from KMC is required for the construction of the planned building for women, civil, and critical care unit departments, and this permission is not being given due to the buffer zone.
Mane added that if this department is implemented in the hospital, the number of hospital beds, which is currently 50, can be increased to about 250. A proposal for the same has already been sent.
KMC officer N. S. Patil said that the
Maharashtra Pollution Control Board
has created a buffer zone up to a distance of 500 meters around the Zoom project located in the Line Bazaar area, and it has been decided not to give permission for the construction of new buildings in this zone.
Speaking on this, State Planning Commission head Rajesh Kshirsagar said, "Hospital is an essential service. The building to be constructed will be used for health services.
The construction of the said buildings will be at the end of the buffer zone, and for this, a meeting will be organised at the ministry level to relax the conditions of the MPCB and take permission as a special matter."
