Emmys Twist: Dept. Q Enters Drama Series Race at 11th Hour, Potentially Upending 2025 Contest (Exclusive)
Did Netflix just throw a grenade into the Emmy race for the second year in a row?
TVLine has learned exclusively that Dept. Q, the Matthew Goode-fronted Scottish thriller that dropped May 29, just two days shy of the eligibility cutoff for this year's Emmys, is being submitted in the Drama Series categories. The acclaimed nine-episode mystery from Queen's Gambit auteur Scott Frank enters a crowded field that includes Severance, The Pitt, Andor, The White Lotus, The Last of Us and Netflix's own The Diplomat.

If all of this sounds vaguely familiar it's because just one year ago Netflix similarly sent Emmy handicappers heads' spinning with the late-April release of Baby Reindeer. Richard Gadd's searing, semi-autobiographical dramedy — which appeared on the kudos scene a scant one month before the close of eligibility — went on to essentially sweep Limited Series categories at last September's Emmys.
It remains to be seen if a similar fate awaits Dept. Q, which earlier this week hit No. 2 on Netflix's consumer-facing Top 10 chart and boasts an impressive 94% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes (its critical score stands at a strong 84%).
Dept. Q, based on the book series by Danish writer Jussi Adler-Olsen, centers on a cranky Edinburgh detective (played by Good Wife alum Goode) who sets out solve a cold case involving a missing prosecutor (played by Queen's Gambit alum Chloe Pirrie).
In addition to possibly playing spoiler in the Outstanding Drama Series contest, Dept. Q is poised to be a contender in the acting races as well. A Netflix rep confirms to TVLine that Goode and Pirrie will be competing in the Lead Actor in a Drama Series and Lead Actress in a Drama Series categories, respectively. The show's supporting cast — which includes Boardwalk Empire vet Kelly Macdonald and Game of Thrones' Kate Dickie — is equally as formidable.

Is ‘FUBAR' returning for season 3? Everything we know so far
By Aman Shukla Published on June 23, 2025, 19:30 IST Last updated June 23, 2025, 14:00 IST Alright, FUBAR fans, time to talk about that Netflix show with Arnold Schwarzenegger kicking butt and bickering with his spy daughter. Season 2 hit in 2025, and now everybody's buzzing: is Season 3 a go or a no? Here's the lowdown on what's up with FUBAR, scraped from the latest chatter. What's FUBAR All About? If you haven't binged it yet, FUBAR is this wild ride where Arnie plays Luke, a CIA dude ready to kick back and retire, only to find out his daughter Emma (Monica Barbaro) is also a secret agent. Season 1, dropped in 2023, was pure gold with explosions and dad jokes. Season 2? Kinda divisive. Some loved it, others called it a snooze. Still, fans want more. Is FUBAR Season 3 Happening? Right now, Netflix hasn't given the green light for FUBAR Season 3. There's no official word, and that's got fans on edge. A post floating around on X claimed Season 2's viewership tanked by 80% compared to Season 1, hinting the show might be on the chopping block. But hold up—there's no hard proof from Netflix or the showrunners to back that up. X posts can be shaky, so don't take them as gospel. For now, it's a waiting game. Why Could Season 3 Still Happen? Even without confirmation, there's hope for more FUBAR . Here's why: Arnold's a Big Deal : Schwarzenegger's name alone pulls in viewers. His TV comeback is a huge win for Netflix, and they might not want to let that go. Loyal Fans : People are rooting for the show. On X, one fan begged for Season 3, shouting out the cast—like Fortune Feimster—and Arnie's epic action-hero energy. Loose Ends : Season 2 left some big questions unanswered. I won't spoil it, but the finale screams for a follow-up. Netflix's Playbook: Sometimes Netflix keeps shows alive if they have a solid fanbase, even if numbers dip. FUBAR could still have enough juice for another round. What's Next? Until Netflix spills the beans, FUBAR Season 3 is up in the air. Fans can help by streaming the heck out of Seasons 1 and 2 and hyping it online. Keep an eye out for news, and fingers crossed we'll see Luke back in action. When is '28 Years Later' coming to streaming? Here's our best guess
Released decades after the second movie, "28 Years Later" sees original "28 Days Later" director Danny Boyle reuniting with writer Alex Garland to deliver a thrilling third installment of the post-apocalyptic horror saga. The first in a planned trilogy, "28 Years Later" whisks us away to a remote community of British survivors living on the island of Lindisfarne. There, we meet 12-year-old Spike (Alfie Williams), who lives with his father, Jamie (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and ailing mother, Isla (Jodie Comer). In the film, Spike embarks on a mission onto the British mainland — which is still under quarantine and overrun by terrifying monsters infected with the Rage Virus — and this journey brings him up close with the horrors that lie beyond the comforts of his humble Northumbrian home. It's a thrilling and frequently surprising watch, and has seriously impressed viewers to date (it's 89% on Rotten Tomatoes) and made a splash at the box office. Despite releasing just days ago at the time of writing, it's already raked in $60 million worldwide (via BoxOfficeMojo). That's great news for the franchise, though it does mean we'll probably be waiting a little while for the as-yet-unconfirmed "28 Years Later" streaming date. Nevertheless, if you're waiting to watch the movie from the comfort of your own home, here's my best guess at when "28 Years Later" might come to streaming services. Currently, the only way to watch "28 Years Later" is by seeing it on the big screen. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. It recently opened in theaters on Friday, June 20, so we'll be waiting a while before it comes to streaming. And unless Sony Pictures' release strategy changes, it'll first arrive on premium video-on-demand (PVOD) storefronts. At the time of writing, we don't have a confirmed "28 Years Later" streaming date, nor a PVOD digital release date, either. However, that won't prevent me from guessing when the post-apocalyptic sequel might come to streaming. We know that Sony Pictures releases come to Netflix, so that's where "28 Years Later" will eventually make its streaming debut. And while we don't have an official date, I'd guess that "28 Years Later" will come to streaming services at some point this fall, likely September or October. That's based on the average 3-4 month wait for Sony's movies to come to streaming. For example, "Venom: The Last Dance" came to Netflix on February 25, four months after its theatrical release in October 2024. Similarly, "Kraven the Hunter" came to the streamer in March 2025, three months after its theatrical release, and we waited four months for "Saturday Night" to land on Netflix back in January. Of course, this is still just a guess, but as soon as we get an official "28 Years Later" streaming date, we'll be sure to share it here, so keep checking back. And if you're looking for Netflix recommendations while you wait for "28 Years Later" to arrive, be sure to check out our round-up of the best Netflix movies you should be streaming right now.

Is ‘MobLand' New This Week? ‘MobLand' Season 2 on Paramount+ Info
When one entertaining Paramount+ show ends, another one is set to begin. Earlier this year, the Landman Season 1 finale aired in January, and the final episode of the network's beloved Yellowstone prequel 1923 debuted in February. Thankfully, Landman has been renewed for a second season, but 1923 has concluded. Don't worry. There are plenty more Yellowstone prequels and spinoffs on the horizon. In March, the Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, and Helen Mirren crime drama MobLand made its streaming debut, with Dexter: Resurrection set to premiere Friday, July 11 on Paramount+ with Showtime. While the original Dexter is no longer on Netflix, you can still stream every iteration of the series on Paramount+ with Showtime. But let's get back to Harry Da Souza and company. Has MobLand been renewed for a second season? Here's everything we know. Nope. MobLand isn't airing a new episode for the foreseeable future. The season finale ('The Beast in Me') premiered June 1 on Paramount+. MobLand Season 1 consists of ten episodes. If MobLand is greenlit for a second season, the Season 2 premiere would be the 11th episode of the series. There's no official renewal information, but we're optimistic about a second season. The series not only had the biggest global series premiere in Paramount+ history, but Tom Hardy told The Hollywood Reporter that the plan is to 'definitely see more seasons.' Pierce Brosnan also wants a second season, and executive producer David Glasser told Deadline that there will 'definitely' be a Season 2 back in March. Paramount tends to make us wait for official renewal announcements — Landman concluded in January but wasn't officially renewed until March — so the lack of new information isn't too concerning. You can watch MobLand on Paramount+, which is available for as little as $7.99/month or $59.99/year. Paramount+ with Showtime, which includes a CBS live stream, is also an option for $12.99/month (or $119.99/year). The streamer is currently offering a seven-day free trial as well as a 25% student discount. You can add Paramount+ with Showtime to your Prime Video or Hulu account for an extra $12.99/month. You can sample the platform on Amazon with a seven-day free trial.
