Yadagirigutta board eludes as two mantris flex their muscles
Hyderabad: Group politics within the ruling Congress party in Nalgonda district have reportedly delayed the constitution of the Yadagirigutta Temple Development (YTD) Trust Board, intended to be modelled on the lines of the renowned Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) in Tirupati. Ministers such as N Uttam Kumar Reddy and the Komatireddy brothers are understood to be actively lobbying to secure positions for their nominees on the Trust Board.
The State government had made a clear decision to establish YTD, drawing inspiration from the TTD. A senior official confirmed that the government intends to constitute trust boards for temples with an annual revenue exceeding Rs 100 crore. As the Yadagirigutta Temple falls into this category, a trust board is slated for formation. To facilitate this, the government amended The Telangana Charitable and Hindu Religious Institutions and Endowments Amendment Act 2025 in March of this year.
However, sources indicate that the initiative has stalled due to internal group politics within Nalgonda district. It is understood that information was already conveyed to public representatives in the district, but the response has been negative, with officials being asked to postpone the matter for a few days. Several MLAs from the district are reportedly eyeing positions on the board, given Yadagirigutta's annual income of Rs 224 crore. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy recently instructed officials to swiftly establish the board, mirroring the TTD structure, with the aim of enhancing the management and development of the significant pilgrimage site.
While the TTD Board comprises 29 members, the proposed YTD will have 18 members. This includes a Chairman, nine other members, one member from the State Legislative Assembly or Council, one each from the Scheduled Castes (SC), Backward Classes (BC), and Women categories, and one member from the founder trustee family. Four ex officio members, including the Principal Secretary Revenue, the Commissioner of Endowments, and the Executive Officer of Yadagirigutta temple, will also sit on the board.
The Board's tenure will be for two years, with members receiving no salary but entitled to Travelling Allowance and Dearness Allowance. Officials stated that the government would issue a formal notification for the trust board's formation once they receive a go ahead from higher authorities.

Extortion case: BRS MLA Kaushik Reddy arrested at Hyderabad airport, granted bail within hours
HANUMAKONDA: In a dramatic late-night swoop, Warangal police arrested BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad on Friday and whisked him away to Hanumakonda for questioning in an extortion case . However, in a surprising turn, a Kazipet court rejected the police remand plea and granted him bail on a Rs 20,000 personal bond within hours, bringing an end to the 18-hour high drama. The Huzurabad legislator was booked by the Subedari police on a complaint filed by Katta Umadevi, wife of granite businessman Manoj Reddy. In her complaint, lodged on April 21, Umadevi alleged that Kaushik Reddy had been threatening her husband for over 20 days, demanding money from Manoj for running his granite business in Vangapally village in Kamalapur mandal. She alleged that Kaushik Reddy had already extorted Rs 25 lakh and, on April 18, called again demanding Rs 50 lakh. According to the complaint, he threatened to kill Manoj Reddy and his family and used abusive language. Subedari police registered a case under sections 308(2), 308(4), and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The MLA had earlier moved the Telangana high court seeking to quash the FIR. However, the court dismissed his plea on June 16 and vacated the interim protection from arrest, instructing him to cooperate with the investigation. Despite this direction, police claimed that the MLA was evading questioning, which prompted his arrest upon arrival at the airport. After his arrest, Kaushik Reddy was taken to the Subedari police station and later to MGM Hospital for a mandatory medical check-up before being produced in Kazipet railway court. His arrest sparked protests from BRS workers. Former minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao and ex-chief whip Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar arrived at the police station, demanding to meet the MLA. Party workers also attempted to burn an effigy of chief minister A Revanth Reddy outside the station, prompting police to detain several of them and shift them to Madikonda police station. Police will continue their investigation into the extortion charges, sources said.

Singareni to construct 500 MW pumped storage plant
Kothagudem: As part of its business expansion activities, Singareni Company will undertake construction of a pumped storage power plant based on the closed Medipalli open cast mine water reservoir in Ramagundam-1 area. During a review meetingon Saturday, CMD N Balaram said, 'The company, which has completed the preliminary studies related to this, has been entrusted with the responsibility of preparing a complete project report and has presented a letter of award to a public sector undertaking named Vyapcos Limited.' He said that the Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu has already visited the Medipalli open cast mine and the construction site. Explaining the details of the project, he said, 'The plant works like a hydroelectric project in a way. A reservoir dam of about 2,350 m long and 23 m deep will be constructed for water storage on the funds. This reservoir will store 9.64 million cubic meters of water and 8 million cubic meters of water will be used for pumping.' The project cost is estimated to be around Rs 3,000 crore.

Dhenkanal on path of progress: Swain
Dhenkanal: Dhenkanal district is now on the path of progress as a development roadmap has been put in place for the last one year. Projects worth Rs 50,000 crore will be invested in the district. This was stated by Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain while addressing a gathering during the closing ceremony of 7-day Vikas Mela at Pallishree Mela ground. Swain said a sports complex and Mahima Gadi development projects to attract tourists will be set up in Dhenkanal. Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra said the Chief Minister has already announced setting up of a medical college, Rs 120 crore for Baji Rout sports complex and Rs 30,000 crore for solar projects. The government has issued new ration cards for 15,144 people, he said, adding that this year the district has procured 17.25 lakh quintals of paddy, which is surplus. In the Vikas Mela, 40 stalls were erected. The Mela focused on Dokra products, food processing , clothes and indigenous products. The ministers gave away prizes for traditional and indigenous products. Vikas Mela souvenir was released on the occasion. Parjang MLA Bibhuti Bhusan Pradhan, Hindol MLA Simarani Nayak, Kamakshyanagar MLA Satrughan Jena, Municipality chairperson Jayanti Patra and Collector Somesh Kumar Upadhyay were present.
