Elon Musk's 3-Word Response To SpaceX Starship Explosion
Although the SpaceX Dragon and its Falcon 9 rocket have proven to be a reliable spacecraft, and somewhat crucial to the ferrying of American astronauts to and from space, Elon Musk's other, more ambitious spacecraft, Starship, has been less-than-successful. On Wednesday, June 18, the latest Starship suffered an explosion, destroying the craft.
No humans were harmed during the accident, which SpaceX officially referred to as "a major anomaly." This was the 10th planned test flight for the Starship craft, which exploded in what Space.com and others have called a "fireball" at the Starbase site in South Texas. Perhaps somewhat predictably, SpaceX owner Elon Musk's reaction to this incident some relatively nonchalant. Posting on X after the incident, Musk's response on Thursday morning was merely: "Just a scratch."
This is the third major setback from the Starship project this year. In January, March, and May, Starship flights have seen setbacks, though this was the first of the Starship flights to have explosive problems while on the launch pad. On Flights 7 and 8, the Starship rocket exploded after liftoff.
The case of the most recent explosion is thought to be the result of what is called a "static fire," a common relaunch test in which the boosters of the rocket are ignited while the craft is still on the ground. It appears that Starship 36 was destroyed by a malfunction during this process.
The next SpaceX launch is the private spaceflight Axiom Space Ax-4 mission, which is set to launch on a Falcon 9 rocket with a Dragon capsule on Sunday, June 22, at roughly 3:42 a.m. ET. That launch will happen at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Apparently there's no AI in team. Artificial intelligence is being hailed as a key element of the fourth industrial revolution, and new tools are now assisting financial advisors with taking notes, drafting emails, and brainstorming thought leadership content. In fact, the vast majority of advisors said generative AI helped their practices, according to a survey earlier this year. But AI isn't a silver bullet. It lacks emotional intelligence and a human touch. Advisors risk damaging client relationships if they become too reliant on automation — even for routine tasks. 'AI is poor at empathy so far,' said Adrian Johnstone, CEO of the CRM platform Practifi. 'Advisors need to recognize where the personal connection is most powerful, and use AI to automate and alleviate the lesser functions.' Ideally, this frees up more time to spend with clients, but misusing these tools can backfire. 'The common refrain of disaffected clients is: 'I pay you to understand me, my goals, and my fears, not to outsource me to a machine,'' Johnstone said. Wealth management is built on bespoke service, but AI hasn't yet learned to fully adapt to individual client needs and goals. While tools that draft emails and website content are improving, the output still reads 'hollow and generic,' Johnstone warned. Use it or Lose it. Client-facing AI tools can be 'extremely risky' because they can't interpret emotional undertones of client's concerns, said Rafael Loureiro, CEO of an estate planning platform. Still, AI can be useful for quick, factual tasks. 'If it's midnight on a Sunday and a client asks, 'What was my marginal tax rate last year?' that's a perfect use case,' Loureiro said. 'It's not doing financial planning, but answering factual questions.' Everything in Moderation. This isn't the first time new tech or strategies meant to disrupt the wealth management industry have wound up causing trouble for advisors and their clients. Will Trout, director at Datos Insights, pointed to the 2008 financial crisis as a warning. NASA spacecraft around the moon photographs the crash site of a Japanese company's lunar lander
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — A NASA spacecraft around the moon has photographed the crash site of a Japanese company's lunar lander. NASA released the pictures Friday, two weeks after ispace's lander slammed into the moon . The images show a dark smudge where the lander, named Resilience, and its mini rover crashed into Mare Frigoris or Sea of Cold, a volcanic region in the moon's far north. A faint halo around the area was formed by the lunar dirt kicked up by the impact.
