EastEnders actress Laila Morse has famous film star brother
Also known as 'Big Mo', she has been portrayed by actress Laila Morse in the programme, as well as in the spin-offs Slaters in Detention and Pat and Mo.
She was introduced in 2000 as the matriarch of the Slater family and appeared for 16 years before departing initially.
It wasn't long before she returned, though, as she was reintroduced in 2018 before being written out again in 2021.
However, after a stint of a few episodes in 2022, she was permanently brought back in 2024, alongside great-grandson Freddie (played by Bobby Brazier).
With Mo having been a presence on EastEnders for so long, many fans might be aware her actress Laila Morse has a very famous film star for a brother.

Laila's younger brother is Gary Oldman, who won the Oscar for Best Actor back in 2018 for his portrayal of Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour.
The 67-year-old has appeared in many major films over the years, including in The Fifth Element, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, the Harry Potter series and Oppenheimer, among many others.
Gary was also recently knighted as part of the King's Birthday Honours.
Some might not be aware that Laila's break into acting is in part thanks to Gary, as he cast her in his 1997 film Nil by Mouth.
This was Laila's first foray into acting at the age of 51, and Gary's debut as a filmmaker.
She featured alongside Ray Winstone, Kathy Burke and Charlie Creed-Miles.
Laila's performance as the character of Janet won her the award of 'Most Promising Newcomer in any Category' at the British Independent Film Awards.
Another interesting fact is the link between Gary and the stage name 'Laila Morse', as the actress's real name is Maureen Oldman.
When Gary was in a relationship with Isabella Rossellini, she suggested to Maureen to use 'Laila Morse' as a stage name.
It is an anagram of 'mia sorella', which translates from Italian as 'my sister'.

EastEnders' Max Bowden seen kissing new girlfriend ahead of surprise soap return
EastEnders star Max Bowden was seen kissing a co-star as they seemed to confirm their relationship prior to his return to the BBC soap as Ben Mitchell Max Bowden was spotted planting a kiss on his new girlfriend ahead of his shock return to the EastEnders lineup later this year. The actor who plays Ben Mitchell on the long-running BBC soap was spotted locking lips with co-star Tori Allen-Martin. The duo had shared the stage together in the musical Midnight Cowboy and appear to be getting closer. The 30-year-old kissed his fellow star on her birthday. The image shared to Instagram showed Tori wrapping her arms around the actor as he leaned in for a peck. The sweet image seemingly confirmed the pair's relationship status after sources claimed they had "hit it off pretty much straight away". The insider told The Sun: "They have the same sense humour and Max was always making her laugh, they just got each other. Neither was looking for romance, it just kind of happened." They added that the duo are "having a lot of fun together". Tori, 39, is best known for her appearance on BBC's Here We Go sitcom. She also plays a role on London Kills, where she takes on the part of trainee detective Billie Fitzgerald. Max, meanwhile, is known for being the most recent actor to portray the role of Ben Mitchell in EastEnders. He left Walford in 2023, with his partying lifestyle said to have been a key factor. However, he is now readying himself for a return to Albert Square with new boss of the soap Ben Wadey up for giving him another chance. Last month it was claimed he would be the latest in a line of faces from the past returning. Recently, Zoe Slater, played by Michelle Ryan, made a brief comeback. However, after shocking fans with her return, the short-lived stint quickly saw her disappear again. It's not yet known how long Max will remain on the soap this time around, with it said to be a short spell to start with. There is reportedly scope for a permanent return, though. The star was axed the BBC soap in December 2023 after playing Ben Mitchell for five years. His final scenes played out in April the following year as his character left the show after being arrested for an international crime, and is now in prison in America. Ben is still mentioned from time to time. Every now and then Phil, who recently went through a mental health crisis, picks up the phone to speak to his son. A source recently claimed to the Sun of the reported return: 'Ben had a list of characters he wanted to bring back and Ben Mitchell was one. It's taken a little while to sort out but Max will be back filming on Albert Square later this year. 'Ben wanted to meet Max and see where his head was at," the source continued before revealing that the new boss had been to see the actor in the musical Midnight Cowboy.

EastEnders' Samantha Womack's final decision over baby with Emmerdale partner
EXCLUSIVE: Samantha Womack was diagnosed with breast cancer in August last year, and now the former EastEnders star reveals how her and partner Oliver's decision for having a baby Chatting from her home in Spain's Valencia mountains, with only her rescue dogs for company, former EastEnders actress Samantha Womack couldn't sound happier. The 52-year-old underwent gruelling treatment for breast cancer after being diagnosed in August 2022, but says she now believes the experience has changed her outlook on life for the better. Last year, the actress, who is already mum to Benjamin, 24, and Lili-Rose, 20, her children with her ex-husband Mark Womack, hinted she and Oliver were considering becoming parents together. 'We've talked about adopting, because after the cancer treatment I wouldn't be able to conceive naturally and because of my age,' she says. 'But I think I'm learning to put things in perspective and hopefully, in the next 10 years, one of my kids will produce a sproglet and I can go from maternal to gra-ternal!' The pair starred together in the play The Girl on the Train, which began touring in 2019. Later, they realised their friendship had blossomed into romance. The couple were brought even closer together when Sam was diagnosed with breast cancer in August 2022. She is now free of the disease, but Oliver recalls:"It sort of changes your outlook and makes you possibly appreciate what you've got a bit more and maybe live your life a bit more as well." Sam had only gone in for a routine check but Oliver cannot imagine what would have happened if she hadn't. "That really saved us," he says. The way Sam handled her ordeal made Oliver even more in awe of her. "She wanted to get through everything and get back on stage as quickly as possible," he says. "She's a real fighter, and she won't let things get in her way. But, she was just so brave and eloquent speaking about what's she's been through and gracious." The couple first shared a fleeting encounter courtesy of Oliver's then Corrie co-star Les Dennis. Les had just left the ITV soap after becoming Pat Phelan's first victim, Michael Rodwell. He had invited Oliver to see him in the stage production of The Addams Family in which he was co-starring with Sam. "I was meant to see it, but I was on a night shoot," says Oliver. "But I was walking past the theatre to say hi to him and Sam was there too. I said, 'Hi, nice to meet you' and that was it! "We properly met on The Girl on the Train. The play was only meant to be six months but then it went on for another six months. We actually worked together for pretty much the whole year and we became really good friends. And we just stayed in touch afterwards really." The couple clearly share an amazing relationship judging by the sweet posts Sam has shared on social media. Oliver is equally smitten, not least by his partner's acting ability. "Sam was absolutely brilliant in The Girl on the Train," he says. "She was on stage for the whole two hours. It was a very big performance."

Danny Dyer ‘never felt nerves' like it on daughter's wedding day
Love Island star Dani Dyer wed sportsman Bowen last month. Discussing the ceremony on their podcast, Live And Let Dyers, Dani said the day left her feeling so emotional she 'couldn't talk about it'. Her father, former EastEnders actor Dyer, said of the moment he walked her down the aisle: 'My heart was beating through my f***ing chest. 'I've done a lot of heavy s***. You know, I've done a lot of theatre and the awards things and everything like that, and there's a little bit of nerves, but I've never felt nerves like that. You know, just hanging on for dear life!' Dyer, who has recently been filming the second series of hit drama Rivals, said he felt 'choked up' at seeing the happy couple together. He went on: 'I needed just to contain myself. Because obviously it's a huge day for everyone in your family, but particularly the tradition of marriages – it's your father giving away your daughter, you know?' The pair also joked about how Bowen's nerves meant he got his bride's name mixed up during the vows. 'He f***ed your name up a few times,' Dyer told the podcast. 'Obviously it's Dani Charlotte Dyer, then he called me Charlotte, didn't he?' Dani added. 'We had to start it again! It was so funny!' Live And Let Dyers is available to listen to now on Global Player, or wherever you get your podcasts.
