Natalie Cassidy slams 'disgusting and disgraceful' fake news story

Former EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy has slammed a 'disgusting and disgraceful' fake news story that claimed she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. The actress, 42, bowed out of her Sonia Fowler role in April following a huge storyline that saw the character wrongly imprisoned for murder. Alongside sister Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) and daughters Bex (Jasmine Armfield) and Julia, they drove off into the sunset for a fresh start on the other side of the world. In the days leading up to her exit, Son's abusive, estranged father Terry Cant (Glen Davies) arrived in Walford to make amends with her, but his true colours soon shone through. After an altercation, the women locked him in their garage before jumping in his hire car and darting off. Towed along in his speed boat, Bianca and Sonia waved on to their adoring neighbours. Natalie has since gone on to host a new consumer series for Channel 4, and will front a documentary for the BBC about training to be a carer. Taking to Instagram yesterday, she alerted her 531,000 followers to a sick hoax that made out she was living with cancer. A screenshot from Facebook read: 'Natalie Cassidy Breaks Down as She Reveals Breast Cancer Diagnosis: 'I Didn't Want Anyone to Know…' ….. See Details in Comment.' This was accompanied by two pictures of her in character on the EastEnders set. Slamming the vile claims, she wrote: 'THIS IS DISGUSTING AND DISGRACEFUL.' 'So many people are going through this and I have had messages asking if I'm ok. 'It is completely made up and a terrible story. Take this down whoever you are.' More Trending 'If something is not on my page – and my page is blue-ticked – then it is not real,' she stated, referencing the social media network's notable person verification system. 'It is AI pretending to be me, and there is nothing I can do about it. It's a hoax, it's a scam and it's a lie. 'So please, I'm begging you, don't click on it, don't believe it, don't read it, don't give it any attention. It's not true.' Coronation Street legend to stage TV return just weeks after exit

Coronation Street's Colson Smith is very busy following his departure from the soap. Colson played Craig Tinker from 2011-2025. The character was killed a few weeks ago while on duty as a police officer. 'Autumn last year I was told that Craig Tinker's time on the Cobbles is to come to end in 2025,' he wrote on Instagram earlier this year, confirming his departure. 'I've loved every single second of my 14 year stay as a resident on the greatest street in the world. I feel incredibly lucky to have grown up in, on and around Coronation Street. 'I've learned pretty much everything about life from the people who call it home. I'm excited to play out the exit story for our Craigy. For me, this is the end of the beginning. 'I genuinely can't wait to see what chapter two has in store for me.' Chapter two for Colson, so far, involves popular TV gameshows. The star previously revealed on the podcast On The Sofa that he will appear on Celebrity Mastermind soon, but he's also set to add another tense quiz show to his list. Colson confirmed in a chat with his co-stars, friends and fellow podcast presenters Jack P Shepherd and Ben Price that he's due to feature on The Weakest Link, hosted by Romesh Ranganathan. The actor went on to share that he's also been approached to appear on BBC One's Pointless, but he obviously needs to do this with a mate. 'They've also come in and asked about Pointless, but I've got to do it with a buddy', Colson said. 'Oh I'll do that. Yeah, I'm good at pointless!', Jack responded. The actor previously told Metro and other publications that it was his decision to be killed off from Corrie, wanting a more finite exit storyline. More Trending 'For me to go, I would want to leave,' he explained. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Who's leaving Coronation Street? The latest gossip from Emmerdale? 'I would want to die, I would want the door to be shut, so then I can know in my head that Corrie has been this, Corrie has done that, and it is now done, and Craig's journey is over. 'So in a really weird way, it was the right thing for me to be killed. I didn't want that 'we might have you back', knowing that it would be very unlikely, and knowing that it would feel a bit like unfinished business and an unfinished job. View More » 'So I think Craig dying, and Craig dying in the line of duty as a copper, that kind of hero's death was by far the most perfect story for the exit.' EastEnders legend reveals emotional reaction to Zoe Slater's return

EastEnders favourite Jessie Wallace has revealed she cried upon learning that Michelle Ryan would be returning to the BBC soap. It's been a busy old week in Walford, with Zoe Slater making a grand return after 20 years away. It's something which Jessie has called for quite some time, and yet the two actresses didn't share any screen time in the last few episodes. Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) had reached out to Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) to tell him that a wayward Zoe had moved in with her, and was overspending on her credit card. Zoe fabricated texts from Spanish loansharks, implying that they were trying to hunt her down and hurt her. Just as Stace' and Alfie grappled with her lies, Kat burst into the flat and her estranged daughter hid in the bedroom. To evade being caught, she climbed out of the window and fled the area for Barcelona – with Alfie following, telling his wife that he was going to Australia to care for younger brother Spencer (Christopher Parker). The huge week has been covered in a feature-length behind the scenes video – which can be viewed on the EastEnders YouTube channel now – and shows Michelle heading back to Elstree Studios for her first day of filming. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video We see her in her dressing room, which has been marked 'Sienna' to keep her identity a secret, and chatting with new executive producer Ben Wadey about his vision. She also sits down with Jessie, who is clearly elated to be with her co-star. 'So, Michelle is back after 20 years' she begins. 'I've missed her tremendously, I've missed her, working with her, the whole Kat and Zoe thing, you know, going back to, 'You ain't my mother,' 'Yes I am'. 'And when I found out Michelle was coming back, I cried. And then when we met up, I cried because I've missed you.' Jessie then states that it felt like being reunited with a child, and it's obvious that theres a lot of love in the Slater clan, who first appeared in 2000. 'Michelle's gone off and done great things, and I've gone off and done other things, but I always come back because I love it here,' she continued. 'I feel like it's my home. And now Michelle's back it's like having my daughter back again.' Wednesday's instalment marked the last time we'll see Zoe – for now. Alfie has headed to Barcelona, hoping to track her movements using the credit card payments. In his departure scenes, he promised an oblivious Kat that he'd bring her the 'best present ever' home from 'Australia'. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Whether or not he manages to find Zoe remains to be seen, but we do know that Michelle is coming back for a permanent stint later in the year. More Trending Undoubtedly many more iconic moments will follow, but will they ever be able to top the iconic 'You ain't my mother!'/'Yes I am!' exchange between Kat and Zoe? Some fans are already speculating about what might bring her back, and it's been suggested that she has a son on The Square – none other than troubled sex offender Joel Marshall (Max Murray). More schedule changes confirmed as EastEnders is pulled from BBC One

As the summer of sport begins, EastEnders will become the latest soap to have their schedule changed as a result. Due to the Wimbledon coverage on BBC One, there won't be any room for EastEnders to air in the usual 7:30pm slot. Don't worry, you won't miss a week of the soap, but you will have to flick over to BBC Two to watch the instalments. On the week commencing June 30, EastEnders will only air on the Monday and Tuesday, but will broadcast two episodes in a row, therefore effectively broadcasting a week's worth of episodes in just two days. It will air as follows: Monday, June 30 – 7pm and then again at 7:30pm. Tuesday, July 1 – 7pm and then again at 7:30pm. The drama taking place in Walford across those two days will involve Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) and Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) clashing, while Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) plots to catch someone out. It's been quite the week in EastEnders. On Monday, fans up and down the country got a huge shock as Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan) returned to our screens. More Trending Staying with Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) in a flat in London, it became apparent very quickly that Zoe wasn't in a good place, with our Stace concerned enough to notify Alfie Moon (Shane Richie). Alfie wasn't keen on the prospect of keeping Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) in the dark but Zoe urged him to keep schtum. When Kat showed up at the flat, however, Zoe was forced to hide and she subsequently made an escape, determined not to come face-to-face with her estranged mum. Huge Robert shock in early Emmerdale ITVX release

The following article contains spoilers from an episode of Emmerdale that hasn't aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX. Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) has returned to the Emmerdale village and as much as he won't accept it, he isn't the same man who left all those years ago. We saw Robert a few weeks ago, when he interrupted Aaron Dingle's (Danny Miller) wedding to John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth). It became apparent that Robert had been released after appealing, but he was quickly sent back inside after breaking the rules of his bail conditions. But with his small sentenced served, Robert was allowed back out of prison and wasted no time in heading back to the Dales. When he got there yesterday, Robert entered Mill Cottage flat due to John assuming he was the pizza delivery guy. Robert announced that he was back to spend time with his family – though it was obvious he had an ulterior motive as well. In tonight's episode, Robert told Vic that he'd spend the day trying to find a new job. He had passed the early hours of the morning walking through the village because he couldn't sleep, but told his sister it was because he had missed the fresh air. Robert headed up to the depot to see Caleb Miligan (William Ash) and spun a story about his life that didn't feature him in prison. Unfortunately for Robert, Caleb saw right through his lie due to being told about him by his brother. However, Caleb could see that Robert wanted a chance and gave him one. It made John angry later in the pub, even more so when Caleb failed to listen to him about Robert being bad news. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? That afternoon, while Vic was at the shop, Robert tried to catch up on some sleep. When she returned, Vic set about pouring a drink for the two of them. As she chatted away, she failed to realise Robert was suffering a bad dream about his time in prison. More Trending Vic tapped Robert's leg to wake him up but just as he opened his eyes, his confused state led him to punching Vic in the face. Robert tried to help her, but a panicked Vic told him to leave. Can she live alongside Robert and his trauma following years behind bars?
