Multi-vehicle crash gridlocks I-8 traffic as rain wets roadway
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Rainy weather made for wet road conditions Sunday morning, leading to a multi-vehicle collision on westbound Interstate 8 near San Diego State University, according to a Sig Alert from California Highway Patrol.
The incident was first reported at 8:35 a.m., with CHP officials noting a vehicle had went down into a ditch near the Waring Road exit. Shortly after, another vehicle spun out and went off the roadway in the same area.

The traffic disruptions only continued from there with CHP reporting that a third vehicle also went off the roadway, while a fourth vehicle t-boned another and also went into a ditch in the area. By 8:40 a.m., the Sig Alert noted that at least four vehicles had major damage and multiple people were injured. The nature of those injuries remains unknown.

At 9 a.m., Caltrans San Diego announced that the left three lanes of westbound I-8 were blocked due to this incident. FOX 5/KUSI captured images at the scene with traffic seen backed up for miles.
In another update at 9:38 a.m., Caltrans San Diego reported that all westbound lanes on I-8 have since reopened.

Big rig loses load on Bay Bridge; eastbound lanes blocked
A tractor-trailer lost part of its load on the Bay Bridge's center anchorage Friday afternoon, snarling weekend getaway traffic headed out of the city, authorities said. Caltrans briefly closing last exit on southbound I-5 before border
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Caltrans crews are planning to temporarily close the last exit on southbound Interstate 5 before reaching the U.S.-Mexico border for construction work. The overnight closure to the Camino De La Plaza exit will begin Tuesday, June 17 at 9 p.m. and last until Wednesday, June 18 at 6 a.m. During that time, Caltrans says it will be installing a pipe in the area as part of ongoing infrastructure improvements. Signs will be posted to alert motorists to the closure. Those headed southbound but do not intend to enter Mexico at the San Ysidro Port-of-Entry will need to get off at the Via De San Ysidro Boulevard exit. 3-vehicle crash on Hwy. 101 blocks traffic during rush hour in SLO
A three-vehicle crash blocked traffic on Highway 101 through San Luis Obispo on Wednesday, slowing the evening commute, the California Highway Patrol said. A gray Toyota Sienna, a black SUV and a blue pickup truck crashed at about 4:52 p.m. on northbound Highway 101 near the Madonna Road off-ramp, the CHP traffic log said. Emergency responders shut down the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes of northbound Highway 101 to respond to the crash. Traffic passed through the area on the off-ramp, the CHP said. The CHP did not know whether the crash resulted in injuries as of 5:15 p.m. A Caltrans highway camera showed traffic slowed to a crawl through the area.
