Why Charlize Theron Thinks Uma Thurman Should've Won an Oscar for ‘Kill Bill'
Charlize Theron is wishing one actress took home a golden statuette for their work.
Theron recently stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to promote her upcoming movie, The Old Guard 2, when the pair spoke about her co-star, Uma Thurman, and Theron's recollection of the actress before working with her.

'We knew each other kind of offhand, but I knew her from being a massive fan, just watching her work and always wanted to do something with her,' Theron said. 'Because when I came into the action world, she was really, to me, like, the sensei. She was the OG.'
Jimmy Kimmel added, 'I agree. She should have won the Academy Award for Kill Bill, right?'
Theron responded, 'A hundred percent. I think men get a lot of credit for these movies.'
'What she did in that film was just so unbelievable. And to me, she's just such a badass,' the Mad Max: Fury Road actress continued. 'Since I've been in action movies, I'm like, 'Who do I want to like work with and do an action sequence with?' It's always been Uma Thurman. Always.'
Theron then explained why she was nervous to work with the Pulp Fiction star. 'I was definitely intimidated by her especially when she showed up and she was given one sword and we had worked out this whole sequence and she went, 'I think I want two swords,'' the actress said.
Theron won her best actress Oscar in 2004 for Monster and was nominated in 2006 for North Country and in 2020 for Bombshell. For Thurman's part, she received a nom for Pulp Fiction in 1995, but lost to Jessica Lange.

Sam Rockwell initially considered teleprompter for White Lotus monologue
Sam Rockwell has revealed that he initially considered using a teleprompter for his monologue in The White Lotus. Earlier this year, the actor went viral after making a surprise appearance in the latest season of The White Lotus, delivering a wild monologue that stole the show. In a new interview with GQ, Rockwell admitted that he had been worried about memorising the lengthy and emotional monologue. "Well, I joked with (creator) Mike White and the producers that I might possibly need an earwig, a teleprompter kind of thing, because I was fearful that I wouldn't know the lines," he explained. However, the actor then revealed that his partner, Leslie Bibb, who played Kate in the show, helped him learn his lines. "Leslie came to visit me on the other movie and drilled me on the lines and ran them over and over again on safari in Africa," he divulged. "They did have an earwig prepped, but I never needed it. I did the first take in one take in a close-up." Explaining his decision to do a close-up, Rockwell said that he wanted the scene to be like a "confessional" as his character was "revealing this really secret part of himself". Rockwell shot his character Frank's monologue scene alongside Walton Goggins, who played his longtime friend Rick. "I couldn't do the monologue without Walt. Walt is my tennis player," he said of his "incredibly helpful" co-star. "We've been friends for such a long time and we were playing friends in the show," he continued. "And, you know, Walt and I have seen things in real life that I wouldn't even know if it really happened unless I called Walt and said, 'Hey, did that really happen?' And he would say, 'Yeah, dude, that really happened.'"

‘The White Lotus' DP Breaks Down His Favorite Shot of Season 3
Director of photography Ben Kutchins chose to highlight this moment from episode three of The White Lotus' third season — in which Walton Goggins' Rick and Aimee Lou Wood's Chelsea visit a Thai snake show — for its rather frightening nature: the use of real serpents. As opposed to most of the scenes shot over the course of the Max drama's six-month production schedule, this was one of the 'rare sequences that we actually storyboarded,' says Kutchins. 'We were very specific about the placement of different snakes and where certain things were going to happen.' Despite the meticulous planning, Goggins, who's no fan of the reptile species, did get bitten. 'It was harmless; it was a nonvenomous snake,' says the DP. 'The location that we chose was quite dark and dingy, so I chose to bring some life and warm it up,' says Kutchins. 'There were all these existing plexiglass windows, and I covered them with different tones of yellow, orange and red gel. Then I put in a bunch of fluorescents to add a little bit of bluish-green shadows.' Later in the scene, Chelsea gets bitten by a venomous cobra, which also happened for real — sort of. Mike White Is Going on ‘Survivor 50' Because It's 'What I Have to Do to Get a Vacation These Days'
At an Emmys FYC event for The White Lotus on Tuesday, creator Mike White made a special video appearance en route to his next gig — competing on Survivor's milestone 50th season. White — who previously competed on the show in 2018 during its 'David vs. Goliath' season, coming in second place — said via video message that he was on his way to 'a hotel near the airport where I have to turn in my phone and stay the night before I fly to Fiji, because I don't know if you know this but I'm going on Survivor. So by the time you see this I will either be out of the game or I'll be starving on an island somewhere — either way, I hope you send me good wishes.' During the main event, the super-sized cast was split into two panels, both moderated by Hacks' Paul W. Downs. The first featured Leslie Bibb, Michelle Monaghan, Carrie Coon, Jason Isaacs, Parker Posey, Sam Nivola and Sarah Catherine Hook, as Downs teased, 'In the four years The White Lotus has been on the air, it has spanned three continents and four HBO names — pretty remarkable stuff.' The cast talked about their collaborations with White and fears going into the show, as Isaacs noted he was worried that his pill-popping head of the Ratliff family 'might just sit there in the corner and look like an extra from Cheech & Chong. I'm chugging these pills — I know what's gonna be going on inside my head, I'll think it all and I'll feel it all, but I just don't know if the audience gonna get any of it.' It was also revealed that Posey and Bibb still haven't watched the show, as the group weighed in on how their lives have changed since the third season premiered. 'I really have to think about what I'm wearing and what I'm saying in public,' Coon said, noting, 'Now when I go to the grocery store, people will be like, 'Great job last night.' I was like, oh no, that's not happened to me before. [But] it peaks when the show is on, then it kind of goes down — for me, maybe not for Parker.' Nivola said he's enjoying the perks of now 'every time I get Thai food, free mango sticky rice,' as Coon admitted, 'My parents still haven't mentioned it. I think they watched it, but they haven't said anything.' Natasha Rothwell, Sam Rockwell, Walton Goggins, Aimee Lou Wood, Patrick Schwarzenegger and Tayme Thapthimthong took part in the second panel, with Rockwell and Goggins breaking down their scenes together. 'Was he on drugs when he wrote that?' Rockwell teased of White writing his character's wild monologue, as well as the 'extraordinary thing to act with a close friend' when it came to his longtime relationship with Goggins. 'I didn't want to let Sam down. This is my hero. I got Bob Duvall, I got like Tommy Lee Jones, I got Chris Cooper and I got Sam Rockwell,' Goggins told the crowd, as Rockwell took out his wallet and threw him a few bucks. Goggins then realized it was only $3 and joked, 'You think I'm that cheap?!' Goggins also explained that his interpretation of his character Rick's 'parable is in the depths of our despair, there's always beauty around us, always. And I think about that in my own life, I think that's what's changed me most — all of these people in Thailand and getting to work with Mike White, but that reminder that, like fuck, I can't deal with what's going on in my life right now. Yeah, you can, man, just focus on what's beautiful in your life. And it was one of the greatest rides of my life.'
