Student arrested for producing child porn, exploiting 2 cousins

Bukit Aman's Siti Kamsiah Hassan said the student sexually exploited and recorded his cousins with his mobile phone several times in Selangor, Kelantan and Pahang.
PETALING JAYA : A university student was recently arrested under the police's Op Pedo for allegedly possessing 5,000 photos and videos of child and adult pornography.
Siti Kamsiah Hassan, principal assistant director of Bukit Aman's sexual, women and child investigation division, said some of the material was home-made, involving his two young cousins, aged four and nine.
She said a team arrested the 20-year-old in Pasir Gudang, Johor, on April 29 based on information obtained from Google.
'He was arrested and his phone and laptop seized under Section 10 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 (for child pornography) and Section 292 of the Penal Code (for sale of obscene material),' Harian Metro reported her as saying.
Siti said the student sexually exploited and recorded his cousins with his mobile phone several times at three different locations in Selangor, Kelantan and Pahang.
She said three separate investigation papers have been opened in the three states.
'The suspect was charged in Johor on May 22 for possession of child sexual abuse material and obscene material. He pleaded guilty and paid a fine of RM5,000.
'He was charged today in Klang with recording acts committed with the two children at his family home in Sungai Buloh between 2023 and 2025,' she said.
Siti said another case in which the student recorded bathing the two children at a duck farm in Maran, Pahang, is being studied by the deputy public prosecutor.
'The incidents last year and this year in Kelantan were at his grandmother's home and are being studied by the Attorney-General's Chambers,' she said.

Sungai Kapar Kechil pollution caused by lorry dumping waste, says exco

The water at Sungai Kapar Kechil in Kapar, Klang, has turned dark blue after a lorry dumped waste into it, said the Selangor government. (Facebook pic) PETALING JAYA : Waste dumped into Sungai Kapar Kechil in Kapar, Klang, is believed to have caused the pollution which has turned the water dark blue. Jamaliah Jamaluddin, who heads the public health and environment committee, said checks by the state's water management authority (Luas) at the river mouth and upstream showed no source of water pollutants. 'Based on information by the complainant and an inspection carried out, we suspect the river was polluted by a lorry dumping waste into it,' she said in a statement, adding that it was a 'one-off' occurrence. She said Luas has since taken samples at the site as well as at the river mouth and upstream, which will be sent to the chemistry department for analysis. 'But we will be monitoring the site from time to time to ensure no recurrence,' she said. Jamaliah advised the people to be alert and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. 'We need everyone to play their part to ensure that Selangor's rivers and water sources remain clean, safe and sustainable,' she said.

KUANTAN, June 20 — The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) added 59 names to its Investor Alert List in the first quarter (1Q) of this year, said chairman Datuk Mohammad Faiz Azmi. He said this move is part of ongoing efforts to combat the increasingly rampant scams, alongside blocking fraudulent websites and social media pages. 'In 2024, we added 273 names to the Alert List, and in the 1Q this year, we added another 59,' he said during his opening remarks at the launch of the Bersama InvestSmart@Pahang 2025 programme. The event was officiated by Pahang Investment, Industrial Development, Science, Technology and Innovation Committee chairman Datuk Mohamad Nizar Mohamad Najib. Mohammad Faiz added that the SC also collaborates closely with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to block these deceptive sites. 'Last year, we blocked 153 websites and 261 social media pages. In the 1Q, we blocked 29 websites and 91 social media pages. These numbers show how much illicit activity we are fighting daily,' he said. As of May 2025, he said, the SC had received 1,218 complaints and enquiries about scams. Mohammad Faiz also reminded the public to be cautious of scams that claim to be Shariah compliant, using religious sentiment to gain trust. Bersama InvestSmart@Pahang 2025 is a three day programme starting today, bringing together government officials, capital market industry players, and regulators under one roof as part of the SC's investor outreach initiative. More than 40 exhibitors are participating in the event, themed 'Bijak Labur, Hidup Makmur'. — Bernama
