Special Branch chief Khalid Ismail is new IGP

(Facebook pic) PETALING JAYA : Bukit Aman Special Branch director Khalid Ismail has been appointed as the new inspector-general of police on a two-year contract, effective June 23. He will take over as the nation's top cop from Razarudin Husain, whose term ends on June 22. Razarudin, who was appointed as the IGP for a two-year term in June 2023, had said he would not extend his contract out of respect for his mother's wishes. Khalid, 60, joined the police force in April 1987 and began his career with the Special Branch at Bukit Aman. He has held various key positions, including deputy director of Special Branch I, and security liaison officer at the Malaysian high commission in London. He was appointed as Special Branch director in April 2023 before reaching the mandatory retirement age in April 2025. His service was then extended on a contract basis, which remains in effect. Home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said in a statement the appointment was made with the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, in accordance with Articles 140(4) and 140(5) of the Federal Constitution, on the advice of the prime minister and recommendation of the Police Force Commission. He thanked Razarudin for his services and congratulated Khalid on his appointment.

Former Selangor, KL police chiefs Hussein Omar Khan and Rusdi Isa to lead narcotics and commercial crimes investigation depts
KUALA LUMPUR, June 20 — The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has announced the promotion and transfer of eight senior officers, including four state police chiefs, effective July 21. In a statement today, PDRM secretary Datuk Kamaruzaman Abdullah said the changes include Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, who has been appointed director of the Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID). Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa has been named director of the Commercial Crime Investigation Department, while Penang police chief Datuk Hamzah Ahmad will assume the role of director of the Integrity and Standards Compliance Department, both at Bukit Aman. Meanwhile, Kedah police chief Datuk Fisol Salleh has been appointed deputy director of Internal Security and Public Order (Operations/Movements) at the Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department. Kamaruzaman added that senior assistant commissioner (SAC) Redzuan Abd Hamid, head of the Telecommunications and Information Systems Division (Technical/Operations) at the Bukit Aman LTD, has been appointed deputy director (Technical/Operations) of the same department, with the acting rank of DCP. Meanwhile, SAC Mohd Rozi Jidin, head of Narcotics (Intelligence/International Liaison) at the Bukit Aman NCID, has been appointed deputy director (Enforcement/Traffic Control/Summons Management) of the Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department, with the acting rank of DCP. Ganja haul: Over 73kg seized in Kepong, 2 held
KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman's Narcotic Crime Investigation Department (NCID), in collaboration with its Perlis counterpart, foiled a drug trafficking attempt with the arrest of two local men and the seizure of over 73kg of cannabis in Kepong. The operation, based on gathered intelligence, was carried out at 1.25am on June 17. Officers intercepted a Perodua Aruz by the roadside along Jalan Baiduri, where the suspects, aged 38 and 33, were detained. "Upon inspecting the vehicle, we found 70 compressed packets of cannabis weighing a total of 73.25kg," said Bukit Aman acting NCID director Deputy Commissioner Mat Zani @ Mohd Salahuddin Che Ali in a statement today.

Student arrested for producing child porn, exploiting 2 cousins
Bukit Aman's Siti Kamsiah Hassan said the student sexually exploited and recorded his cousins with his mobile phone several times in Selangor, Kelantan and Pahang. PETALING JAYA : A university student was recently arrested under the police's Op Pedo for allegedly possessing 5,000 photos and videos of child and adult pornography. Siti Kamsiah Hassan, principal assistant director of Bukit Aman's sexual, women and child investigation division, said some of the material was home-made, involving his two young cousins, aged four and nine. She said a team arrested the 20-year-old in Pasir Gudang, Johor, on April 29 based on information obtained from Google. 'He was arrested and his phone and laptop seized under Section 10 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 (for child pornography) and Section 292 of the Penal Code (for sale of obscene material),' Harian Metro reported her as saying. Siti said the student sexually exploited and recorded his cousins with his mobile phone several times at three different locations in Selangor, Kelantan and Pahang. She said three separate investigation papers have been opened in the three states. 'The suspect was charged in Johor on May 22 for possession of child sexual abuse material and obscene material. He pleaded guilty and paid a fine of RM5,000. 'He was charged today in Klang with recording acts committed with the two children at his family home in Sungai Buloh between 2023 and 2025,' she said. Siti said another case in which the student recorded bathing the two children at a duck farm in Maran, Pahang, is being studied by the deputy public prosecutor. 'The incidents last year and this year in Kelantan were at his grandmother's home and are being studied by the Attorney-General's Chambers,' she said.
