Stacey Solomon gives 'sad' family update as she reveals 'new journey forever'

Edinburgh Live04-06-2025

Stacey Solomon has shared her heartache over the health struggles of her beloved dog Teddy, who underwent a major change earlier this year.
The Sort Your Life Out presenter had previously asked for prayers from her fans in April when she revealed that Teddy's health had taken a sudden turn for the worse.
She had explained to her followers that she and her husband Joe Swash were informed that their family pet 'might not ever fully recover', after discovering he had a predisposed condition they "had no idea about".

Stacey detailed the incident, explaining that Teddy suddenly lost the use of his back legs. Vets later confirmed that he'd suffered a burst disc and his spine was "really worn" due to a predisposed condition.
After disclosing that Teddy had undergone surgery, Stacey expressed: "We are praying and hoping so hard that he pulls through and that we can care for him in the best way we possibly can to give him the best life he can have.", reports the Manchester Evening News.
"We are all truly devastated. He is the sweetest, most protective, loving dog. He's our family. And far too young to be going through this. We love you Ted. So so much. Pickle Cottage is far too quiet without you. I miss my toilet buddy. Peanut is so sad without his best friend.."
In the weeks following Teddy's operation, Stacey shared that she was performing daily physiotherapy with him and having to express his bladder throughout the day, as he remained on medication and crate rest.
Towards the end of last month, Stacey revealed she was taking Teddy for a check-up, admitting his future remained "uncertain", but had yet to update her followers on the results.
On Tuesday (June 3), Stacey updated her millions of followers on Teddy's condition, describing the news as bittersweet.
Sharing a photo of the adorable dog lying next to her, she said: "Teddy update, so many of you asking. After his vet appointment, it looks likely that Teddy will never get the feeling back in his legs and will need our help with urinating and assisted walks and physio forever.
"But the good news is... the vet was so pleased with how happy Teddy was and how well we are doing his physio and managing his bladder. So me and Joe were really happy with that and felt extremely proud."
The mother-of-five added: "I feel sad for Teddy but I'm also confident that me and Joe can give him the happiest life and all the love he deserves. So this new journey is forever.
"But we love Teddy so much we will just keep going and do our best to find new ways to keep him healthy and happy for as long as we can [face holding back tears emoji]."
This follows the release of Stacey and Joe's BBC One reality series, which gave viewers a glimpse into their family life at Pickle Cottage. The show, 'Stacey And Joe', featured the couple, their children, and pets – including their two dogs, Teddy and Peanut, as well as a number of ducks.

Premier League footballer 'signs up' for Strictly Come Dancing 2025 series

Premier League footballer 'signs up' for Strictly Come Dancing 2025 series The 23rd season of the BBC One dance competition is still months away but the rumour mill has been in overdrive He would be a huge signing for the dance show (Image: BBC ) As the 2025 season of Strictly Come Dancing approaches, rumours are swirling about the celebrities set to dazzle on the dance floor, with a Premier League legend being the latest name expected to join the line-up. Ex-Leeds United ace Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is reportedly trading football boots for dancing shoes as he gears up to compete in the beloved BBC competition. ‌ At 53, the Dutch former footballer could be the next sports star to attempt to cha-cha-cha his way to success on Strictly, following in the footsteps of Robbie Savage, Alex Scott, and Tony Adams, who have all vied for the coveted Glitterball Trophy. ‌ Hasselbaink, who took on a coaching role with the England squad in 2023, stepped down last August after Gareth Southgate's departure as manager. With more free time, it's rumoured that Jimmy might be strutting his stuff on the Strictly stage this year. An insider revealed to The Sun: "Jimmy has a huge fanbase from his years playing in the Premier League and is a very likeable character. Show producers are always keen to book a retired footballer as it gets footie fans tuning into the series and becoming unlikely fans of the show. Jimmy has a competitive edge and is going to get his head in the game." Judges Craig Revel Horwood, Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke are all confirmed to return for what will be the 23rd series in 2025. However, with scandals marring the show in the past two years, there is concern about potential new controversies. Strictly has faced negative press recently with allegations of professional dancers being physically rough with their celebrity counterparts and celebrities themselves being accused of improper conduct. ‌ Reports suggested earlier this year that BBC executives were grappling with a "terrible, terrible fear" of more scandalous incidents, prompting measures to overhaul the show's image, which might affect casting decisions. In a bid to keep future series scandal-free, the BBC is reportedly vetting individuals carefully for the 2025 line-up. Names such as Blue Peter presenters Joel Mawhinney and Shini Muthukrishnan are being considered alongside Tom Parker Bowles, Queen Camilla's son. Other celebrities rumoured to join the next season include Georgia Toffolo, the winner of I'm a Celebrity, and Nicola Roberts from Girls Aloud. Dani Dyer, who recently wed after her stint on Love Island, and ex-Coronation Street actress Helen Flanagan are also reportedly in the running for a spot on the dance floor. ‌ Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke are expected to return as judges (Image: BBC/Guy Levy ) "There is a terrible, terrible fear among those high up that these awful things are going to keep happening and the show will be brought into disrepute again and again," a well-informed BBC insider revealed to MailOnline. "With that in mind, they are taking no chances. "There will be stringent checks, and asking around, and digging into potential stars' backgrounds to make sure that they're not choosing anyone who might damage the show. For years, there was the whole Strictly "curse" where the contestants and professionals kept having affairs. But that stopped. Article continues below "Changes were made to the partnerships and it worked. There have been other issues in the past couple of years, though. What's been even more embarrassing for the BBC is that Wynne and Jamie have been from their own stable of stars. Going forward, those at the top want a wholesome image to shine through. No more scandal – just joy." This revelation follows an incident involving 2024 contestant Jamie Borthwick, known for his role as Jay Brown in the BBC soap EastEnders, who had to issue a heartfelt apology after footage allegedly surfaced showing him making derogatory remarks about the people of Blackpool. Strictly Come Dancing is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.

‘Bro, my lilacs are crazy': why boys love virtual gardening

I first realised something was up when I heard the classical music coming from the iPad as my 11-year-old sat there swiping. 'Teddy, are you listening to Mozart's Rondo alla Turca?' I asked. 'Oh. It's this game I'm playing on Roblox,' he responded. I became more suspicious when I tuned into the conversations his friends were having at the school gates. There was talk of 'pollinators', 'honeysuckle' and 'seed packs'. Boys were greeting one another with sentences like 'Bro, my lilacs have gone crazy' and discussing the challenges of succulents. Naturally, I assumed this was standard pre-teen drug slang. But no, they genuinely were talking about horticulture, albeit virtual horticulture. Yes, the game of the moment is Grow a Garden, a simulator hosted on the gaming platform Roblox, in which users have to grow carrots and daffodils and ember lilies, then sell them at market and make their fortunes.

EastEnders Kat in turmoil after Alfie's departure as she 'gets close' to Phil

It's set to be a dramatic week for Kat Moon in next week's EastEnders as she's left worrying about how things are with Alfie, as well as being concerned for her ex, Phil It's been a huge week for Kat and Alfie in EastEnders this week, with the return of Kat's daughter Zoe Slater. However, Kat is completely unaware that Zoe returned to London - and that her husband, Alfie, has gone to Barcelona to follow her after she fled. Next week, she's left worrying about her lack of communication, while also being left concerned about her ex, Phil. ‌ It was a close call in scenes earlier this week, as Kat suspected something suspicious was going on in Stacey's flat. She opened the bedroom door, where Zoe was, although she'd already escaped out the window. She later told Stacey she was going to Barcelona, and now Alfie's gone to hopefully bring her back home. ‌ However, he told a huge lie to his new wife Kat, telling her that he was off to Australia to visit his brother Spencer. Although she came round to the idea in the end, Kat told Alfie that their relationship would be over for good if she finds out he's lying. Spoilers for next week reveal even more turmoil for Kat and Alfie as she's left is worrying about how things are with her husband Alfie Moon. She tries to confide in Jean Slater, Jean about her hurt over Alfie being incommunicado, but Jean refuses to forgive Kat for going into business with Kathy and Harvey. However, Alfie's lack of communication isn't the only thing concerning Kat, as she's left worried about her ex-husband Phil. Phil's worried about Nigel deteriorating amid his dementia diagnosis, and some of his actions next week leave Phil struggling. ‌ During a heart to heart, Kat realises her ex-husband is exhausted and in over his head as she suggests he gets help to care for Nigel. Jean is later left questioning Kat why she's spending so much time at Phil's place, as she insists it's nothing but platonic concern. Last week, Phil was seen giving Alfie an unlikely pep talk after he and Kat called the wedding off. He told Alfie that he was the one Kat always wanted as the two made amends and tied the knot. However, the couple's third marriage to each other hasn't got off on the best foot - starting off on a huge lie. Will Kat find out that Alfie's lying about her whereabouts? If so, how will she react? Will the pair really be over for good like she said? EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
