Cooperation of Vizagites, a key to massive turnout': CM
Visakhapatnam: With a participation of 3.02 lakh, Visakhapatnam created history by gaining a place in Guinness World Records for the largest gathering for yoga in one place, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said.
Appreciating ministers, district officials, public representatives and more importantly people of Visakhapatnam for their complete cooperation in making the 11th edition of the International Yoga Day a massive success, Naidu emphasised at a media conference that public cooperation is key to massive turnout. 'This is just the beginning of ambitious plans the NDA has in promoting public health and wellness to the next level,' the CM emphasised.
With technology playing a crucial role in making the event a hassle-free affair, Naidu reiterated that the record participation could become a reality due to the incorporation of technology, including the introduction of QR code-based participant tracking system.
With two Guinness World Records, including 22,122 tribal students performing Surya namaskarams on the eve of the International Yoga Day and for the largest gathering for yoga in one place on the IYD, the massive event gained entry into 21 World Book of Records. Sharing the statistics, Naidu stated that even as the cabinet ministers raised doubts when he called for a record breaking IYD celebrations, eventually, they reposed faith in his aspirations, extending support to the biggest endeavour organised ever in Visakhapatnam. 'Within a short span of time, Yogandhra-2025 garnered extensive support from across the people of Andhra Pradesh as they place trust in my leadership and are aware of the benefits yoga offers,' the Chief Minister stressed, adding that people volunteered happily for the event without any force.
Recalling how people of Visakhapatnam refrained from bursting crackers when the CM called out for Diwali celebrations sans firecrackers when Hudhud cyclone left a trail of devastation in 2014, Naidu underlined, 'It is with the same spirit, Vizagites volunteered to make the IYD event a massive success.'
About Prime Minister specially appreciating IT and Industries Minister Nara Lokesh's efforts in making yoga a true social celebration, including every section of society, Naidu stated that Lokesh succeeded in planning out 26 theme-based yoga events in a short span of time and his efforts caught the attention of the Prime Minister.

He said that poor performance in education quality, maternal and infant mortality rates, employment generation, weak scores on women empowerment, infrastructure, per capita income, alarming fiscal indicators, including debt management, interest payment ratio, fiscal deficit, severe deficiencies in electricity access, railway density, healthcare services, and school teacher ratios. He also said that the weak judicial efficiency, e-governance, investment environment, and environmental metrics are also poor, including air quality and renewable energy adoption. 'Bihar is now behind even Rajasthan, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh — states it once competed with. The figures speak for themselves, and corruption and poor governance are to blame,' Mishra said. He alleged that the government's much-publicised development narrative is hollow and lacks substance on the ground. Mishra added that even the Union government data contradicts the NDA's claims of progress. 'Bihar is in deep crisis, socially, economically, and administratively. The only way out is a change in government and a policy revolution,' he concluded. This marks a major strategic move by the Congress to build a data-backed campaign against the NDA ahead of the Assembly elections. With just four months to go, the party appears poised to corner the ruling alliance on its development record, particularly using central and global institutional reports as ammunition.

Bandi Sanjay dares Congress government to seek CBI inquiry into phone tapping case to bring ‘masterminds' behind it to justice
Alleging that the Congress was having a secret understanding with the BRS, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Saturday dared Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to seek a CBI inquiry into the telephone tapping case. Mr Sanjay was in Karimnagar to participate in the International Yoga Day celebrations held at the Dr BR Ambedkar stadium on Saturday. Later, speaking to the media, he questioned why Mr. Revanth Reddy, who had demanded a CBI probe into the phone tapping issue while he was the TPCC president during the BRS rule, failed to act upon it after coming to power. He alleged that the previous K. Chandrasekhar Rao-led dispensation filed dozens of cases against him. 'I was the first to speak out about the phone tapping. The tapping was conducted from Hyderabad and Sircilla. Everyone knows who is behind this,' he added. Mr. Sanjay Kumar said, 'Former Special Investigation Bureau (SIB) chief T. Prabhakar Rao, who is the prime accused in the phone tapping case, tapped the phone of BJP leaders, including mine. The accused did not just tap phones of BJP leaders but also of Congress and BRS leaders. Even judges were not spared.' The prime accused 'fled' the country after the Congress came to power, he criticised. 'Despite clear evidence that the phone tapping was done at the behest of the persons at the helm in the previous BRS government, why has no notice been issued to the masterminds behind the nefarious crime?' he asked. Stating that he had received a phone call from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the phone tapping case to testify before it, Mr. Sanjay said he will cooperate with the investigation and act as per law.

Operation Sindoor reflects control, inner strength of troops, gained by practising yoga: Rajnath Singh
India's armed forces displayed restraint, balance and precision during Operation Sindoor, which is a reflection of their inner strength attained by practising yoga, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, speaking in Jammu and Kashmir where he celebrated the 11th International Day of Yoga on Saturday (June 21, 2025). He performed various asanas and breathing exercises with approximately 2,500 soldiers of the Northern Command in Udhampur. Those who practice yoga in their daily lives have control over their body and mind, he said, adding that it makes the practitioner proactive, not reactive, and pointing to Operation Sindoor as a good example. Sindoor not over yet Claiming that India's social and communal unity was targeted through the Pahalgam terror attack, Mr. Singh said that Operation Sindoor was a clear message to Pakistan that it would face the consequences of supporting terror activities against India. 'Operation Sindoor is the natural progression of the surgical strike of 2016 and the air strike of 2019. It was executed in such a way that Pakistan requested for a ceasefire, and only then have we put a pause to the operation. As I have said earlier, Operation Sindoor is not over yet. India is fully prepared to take all kinds of action against terrorism,' Mr. Singh said. He also asserted that Pakistan wants to weaken India from within, but it should never forget that just like Major Somnath Sharma, Brigadier Usman too sacrificed his life for the unity and integrity of the country. Yoga's battlefield benefits When the nation is celebrating the International Day of Yoga, people should remember the true meaning of the practice, which is to connect every section of society with the culture and soul of India, the Defence Minister said. 'If even one section is left behind, the wheel of unity and security is broken. Therefore, today, we should perform yoga at the level of society and thought, and not just body,' he added. Yoga prepares a soldier physically and mentally and its benefits can be seen in the battlefield, he said, encouraging the soldiers to continue practicing it daily. The event was attended by Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command Lt Gen Pratik Sharma.
