Paddy McGuinness hits out at Carlos Tevez 'assault' after Soccer Aid
Paddy McGuinness has broken his silence after being on the wrong end of a Carlos Tevez masterclass during Sunday night's Soccer Aid. The TV star and comedian battled on as England keeper but could not stop the former Manchester City striker from scoring as fans pondered if the former Argentine International had 'forgotten it was a charity match.'
Fans at Old Trafford watched on as Tevez fired four goals in ten minutes past England keeper Paddy, putting a swift end to their 3-0 lead in the first half. Viewers at home joked Tevez was approaching the game with the ferocity of a Champions League final as he failed to slow down past the celebrities.
Taking to Instagram today, Paddy shared a hilarious snap of him and Tevez post-match. Tevez had a huge grin on his face as he and Paddy pointed fingers at each other.
The funnyman wrote alongside it: "Police are looking to contact this man in connection with an assault that took place in the Old Trafford area of Manchester last night.
"We urge members of the public not to approach him."
Paddy's teammates Robbie Keane and Wayne Rooney responded to the posts with laughing emojis.
Other fans offered supportive comments, as one said: "It was lovely watching the England ex players pass the ball forward to give the celebs a chance to score, but not Tevez, oh no. Think he forgot was the point of the match was. You did ya best buddy, keep your chin up," they told Paddy.
"To be fair you did leave the goal open for him. Fair play trying to stop a world class striker," added another.
Paddy wasn't the only one being riled by Tevez's antics on the pitch. Angry Ginge slammed the forward in the changing room after the match, after spending the second half trying to mark him.
"Cheers Tevez. Tw*t," fumed the Manchester United fan as he showed off a bleeding cut on his leg from the changing room.
Tevez, who played for Man United and Manchester City during his professional career, bagged four goals before Big Zuu grabbed his team's winner.
In a bid to stop the legendary striker firing another in then et for the opposition, Angry Ginge bulldozed into Tevez sending him flying. as fans of the charity match watched on in shock. The forward then jumped up from the ground and appeared to lunge at the YouTube star before the pair parted ways.
Despite being on the losing end, Angry Ginge was named Man of the Match for his performance at the back, which included a spectacular goal line clearance.

Jadon Sancho at centre of transfer battle as Juventus hold talks with Man Utd over outcast who is also wanted by Napoli
MANCHESTER UNITED outcast Jadon Sancho is being targeted by both Juventus and Napoli. Sancho, 25, returned to United after last season's loan stint at Chelsea, who paid their Premier League foes a £5million fee to cancel their initial agreement to sign him on a permanent basis. 3 However, there are still suitors keen to add the winger within their ranks during the summer transfer window. According to transfer insider Gianluca Di Marzio, Juve are the latest interested party to swoop in for the England international. The Bianconeri have started talking with Man Utd about a possible deal the last few hours. This comes after Juventus' Serie A foes Napoli also expressed an interest for Sancho. But unlike the Old Lady, the Italian champions are speaking directly to the player's camp. Juventus have been keeping tabs on the ex-Borussia Dortmund star since last summer. The Turin giants expressed an interest before the forward moved to Chelsea on loan. Sancho is looking for a fresh start amid his ongoing struggles at Old Trafford. Napoli have already helped one of his former United team-mates turn his career around. And that is none other than Scott McTominay who helped Antonio Conte's side win the Scudetto. Sancho's Next Move: Three Clubs in the Race! | From The Sports Desk | Sun Sport McTominay amassed a total of 13 goals and six assists in 39 appearances this past season. 3

As someone pointed out on X, Hamilton Accies based at Broadwood, formerly Clyde's home, and Clyde playing at New Douglas Park, previously Hamilton's HQ. And only one Saturday 3pm kick off in the top flight on the opening weekend of new season, the thirteenth since the Scottish Professional Football League was established. Welcome back to the crazy world of Scottish football. A new season fixture list that is more of a suggestion than a schedule given the number of games that will likely need to be moved due to European football activities still managed to deliver a variety of talking points, including the new rule which allows all teams involved in European play-off round clashes to request a postponement of their matchday three clash on the weekend of 23/24 August without consulting the opposition. In short, an invitation for some early controversy and quarreling. Delicious! Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Some things though are set in stone. Russell Martin's Rangers revolution will kick off in the league at Motherwell at 5.30pm on Saturday 3 August. At least the pressure won't already be on the Ibrox side – Celtic do not begin their defence of the title until the following afternoon when hosting St Mirren, which – fitness permitting – is when Kieran Tierney is due to make a return to competitive Scottish football. (Photo by Craig Foy / SNS Group) | SNS Group Still, Martin could do with securing an immediate three points, something Rangers haven't done on the opening weekend since defeating Livingston under Giovanni van Bronckhorst in 2022. In each of the last two seasons they have been in catch-up mode following the opening weekend. In both cases they were looking for a new manager before the season was out. Clearly Martin is hoping to buck this trend. Much might depend on what happens between now and the league kick-off when it comes to signings, although whatever happens on that front Rangers' Champions League fate will also be a lot clearer by then. They will either be already out and preparing for a Europa League qualifier or they will have given the Martin era a boost by having overcome Panathinaikos in their Champions League second qualifying round tie. 'We've got a lot of work to do, physically, tactically….the players haven't even been in the building yet, they come back on Monday,' Martin told Sky Sports as he reflected on Rangers' league programme schedule, which one can imagine some fans already taking issue with. 'Monday?! Celtic were back this week!! Idlers. Sack the board!' Note to Rangers supporters: Calm down, Celtic are not back in training and aren't expected to return to Lennoxtown until the start of July. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Delaying bleep tests and the like for a little longer feels very sensible given the sweltering conditions. Still, if it's not an inappropriate image to evoke as Scotland bakes under a pitiless sun, the publication of a new season's set of fixtures is like waking up to find newly fallen snow outside – it will never not enthral. Rangers head coach Russell Martin will hope to improve fortunes at Ibrox following a tough domestic campaign last season. Cr: SNS Group. | SNS Group Away from Rangers and Celtic, who I am contractually obliged to note meet for the first time in the new season on 31 August at Ibrox, Dundee will entertain Hibs at Dens Park - and yes, it's officially back to being called Dens Park – on Sunday 4 August. Steven Pressley's return to top flight Scottish football as manager of the hosts is sure to be a fascinating affair, as much for the reaction of the fans – both sets – as anything. But perhaps the first real box office clash of the new league season is on Monday 4 August at Tynecastle, where Hearts host Aberdeen. This fixture is always one to look out for but new Hearts manager Derek McInnes against his last-but-one team adds some added spice, even if it is a bloody Monday night. Still coming down from the high of a Scottish Cup win, Aberdeen fans might not be bothered about that inconvenience. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad It does underline the difficulties when it comes to producing a balanced set of fixtures and one that satisfies everyone in all four divisions, which of course is never possible. The SPFL have worked in conjunction with GotSport, a sports management platform based in the United States. A 'fixture recipe', based on information and restrictions provided by the SPFL, is fed into an obligatory 'supercomputer' and out of it emerges things like East Kilbride v The Spartans, with the two newest SPFL teams meeting on the first Saturday at K-Park. Hearts will begin their league campaign against new manager Derek McInnes' former club Aberdeen. | SNS Group The supercomputer has its work cut out. Even the fact Oasis have reformed ends up having an impact, which is not something the Gallagher brothers probably considered when ending their feud. Due to the band's concert at Murrayfield on the weekend of the second round of fixtures, Hearts have been scheduled to play away – against Dundee United. It is not the only match between Hearts and Dundee United that has been impacted by events at the neighbouring rugby arena. The first meeting of the two clubs at Tynecastle next season will be played on Sunday, November 9 due to the Autumn Test between Scotland and New Zealand taking place at Murrayfield on the Saturday. Gary Neville launches mission to improve the UK's worst football pitches
Gary Neville launches mission to improve the UK's worst football pitches The Best Worst Pitch initiative will provide line painting and pitch maintenance equipment, as well as maintenance training to 50 UK grassroots clubs Specsavers has partnered with Man United and England legend to launch the Best Worst Pitch initiative (Image: PA Media ) Former England and Manchester United defender Gary Neville has launched a Best Worst Pitch Initiative to breathe new life into underfunded grassroots football pitches. The Best Worst Pitch initiative will provide line painting and pitch maintenance equipment, as well as maintenance training to 50 UK grassroots clubs. Specsavers has partnered with Man United and England legend to launch the Best Worst Pitch initiative. Open to clubs across the UK, the initiative will provide teams who are most in need with professional line painting equipment and GPS pitch mapping, pitch maintenance equipment, as well as maintenance training to help them maintain their pitches through the next season and beyond. With councils stretched for funding, the responsibility for maintaining club pitches, often falls on dedicated members of the grassroots football community (Image: PA Media ) Clear and accurate line markings are vital not just for ensuring structure and fairness in the game, but also for helping players and officials navigate the pitch-enhancing visibility, spatial awareness, and overall safety throughout play. Article continues below Gary Neville added: " Anyone who has played football at one point or another has played on a dodgy pitch. Grassroots football is the foundation of our sport and it's great to be a part of the Best Worst Pitch initiative supporting the communities and volunteers who make it possible.' The announcement comes as UK football governing bodies have recently highlighted that maintaining grassroots pitches across the UK is one of the main issues facing the sport. With councils stretched for funding, the responsibility for maintaining club pitches, often falls on dedicated members of the grassroots football community. It's a challenge Specsavers has seen up close, having documented the journey of grassroots teams through the Best Worst Team campaign - highlighting the real struggles faced at pitch level and further underlining the brand's long-standing commitment to supporting the grassroots football community. Speaking about the struggles of Pitch maintenance, Chairman of current Specsavers Best Worst Team, Tunley Athletic, Craig Doughty said: 'It's a real slog sometimes - every week, rain or shine, I'm out there doing two full laps of the pitch just to get the lines marked. 'The equipment we've got is ancient—it clogs, it leaks, and it takes twice as long as it should. On dark evenings or when the wind's howling, it feels like it takes forever. But I do it because I love this club—it means everything to the community.' Article continues below Alongside providing equipment, Specsavers is also offering training and education to the selected clubs - aiming to tackle some of the long-term challenges faced by grassroots teams and the volunteers who maintain their pitches. The goal is to improve the quality and longevity of these pitches, ensuring local communities can continue to enjoy them for many matches to come. Kim Bull, PR and Social Lead, commented: 'Over the last two seasons supporting clubs that need a bit of help with their eyes and ears, as well as their game, we've noticed the effort that goes into keeping grassroots clubs running. People like Craig, who quietly put in the hard work behind the scenes to keep pitches playable, is what grassroots football is all about. This initiative means we can support more clubs and communities, like Tunley. By making faded lines more visible, we're helping players see the beautiful game more clearly. And hopefully make fewer mistakes!'
