Could Jalen Ramsey be on his way back to Los Angeles? The buzz around a potential Rams-Dolphins trade has picked up steam—and Rams head coach Sean McVay has finally weighed in. While he didn't shut the door on the possibility of reuniting with the All-Pro cornerback, he made it clear there are major hurdles.
His words were open-ended, but not overly optimistic.

Sean McVay, speaking during the Rams' offseason workouts, acknowledged Ramsey's value on and off the field. He praised the veteran's leadership and elite playmaking ability, calling him the type of player any franchise would want. But while the interest may be real, McVay quickly pointed to complications behind the scenes. It's not just about want—it's about feasibility.
'Usually, those are scenarios and situations that you have to have plans in place prior to executing some of the decisions that have occurred,' McVay said. 'Definitely don't want to rule anything out because we're always open-minded to onboarding and acquiring quality players and people like him if we're able to do that, but there would be some obstacles that are real that are in the place of maybe preventing that from occurring.

Money and planning create major roadblocks
At the heart of those "real obstacles" is Ramsey's contract. He carries a $24.3 million cap hit for 2025—a steep price for a Rams team managing several big-name deals. Without careful restructuring, the finances simply don't line up. McVay hinted that such a move would've required earlier cap planning and flexibility.
Even if the Rams could handle the salary hit, Miami would likely demand premium compensation. Draft capital, which L.A.
has been cautious about trading, would be on the table. Sources suggest no formal negotiations have taken place yet, and the Dolphins are in no rush to move their star DB. All signs point to a standstill—for now.

As we go through this transformation together, be curious about AI, educate yourself, attend workshops and take trainings, use and experiment with AI whenever you can, participate in your team's brainstorms to figure out how to invent for our customers more quickly and expansively, and how to get more done with scrappier teams. When I first started at Amazon in 1997 as an Assistant Product Manager, I worked on leaner teams that got a lot done quickly and where I could have substantial impact. We didn't have tools resembling anything like Generative AI, but we had broad remits, high ambition, and saw the opportunity to improve (and invent) so many customer experiences.
