Nebraska lands UNLV catcher via transfer portal
The Nebraska softball team landed its first transfer from the portal on Monday. UNLV catcher Jesse Farrell is now a Husker. She holds two years of eligibility left.
Farrell, a Henderson, Nevada native, played two years with the Rebels and earned second-team NFCA All-West Region as a freshman and second-team All-Mountain West as a sophomore. She also reached the top 25 finalists for national freshman of the year in 2024.
Farrell played in 100 games in her two seasons at UNLV, delivering a .338 career batting average, which included 100 hits for 74 RBIs. She also tallied 26 doubles, three triples, 19 home runs, and 72 runs scored.
On defense, Farrell recorded 221 putouts and 139 assists. She stands with a .964 career fielding percentage and stands with a .350 throw-out rate with base stealers.
In 2025, Farrell finished with 48 hits for 28 RBIs on a .318 batting average. She blasted eight home runs, 14 doubles, and two triples.

Oregon Ducks target Khary Adams announces college commitment
The Oregon Ducks have been recruiting 4-star cornerback Khary Adams strongly over the past few months, but on Friday afternoon, they got some unwanted news. Adams, the No. 36 player and No. 3 cornerback in the 2026 class, per 247Sports, announced his commitment to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. It appeared that this was the likely outcome over the past week, especially when Adams cancelled an official visit that he had planned to Eugene for this weekend. Adams stands at 6-foot-2, 175 pounds, and is from Towson, Maryland. It makes sense for him to stick closer to home at Notre Dame, but he would have been a significant win for Oregon had they been able to land him. This may not be the only win that Notre Dame gets over the Ducks on Friday in the recruiting world, either. 5-star safety Joey O'Brien is scheduled to announce his commitment later this afternoon, and the expectation is that the Oregon target is also going to end up committing to the Fighting Irish as well. While these are two unfortunate losses for the Ducks on the recruiting trail, they did get to celebrate a big win on Thursday, with 5-star safety Jett Washington joining Oregon's 2026 class. Washington is rated as the No. 18 player in the nation, and he becomes the No. 1-ranked safety to ever commit to the Ducks. Big 12 basketball teams ranked by returning production entering 2025-26 season
The 2025-26 Big 12 basketball season continues to draw closer with teams planning their summer exhibition series and nonconference schedules being finalized. NBA draft prospects are either heading to the draft or returning to school after the deadline to declare passed in late May. The spring transfer portal is also in the rearview mirror meaning that most 2025-26 roster is finalized. Notable Big 12 players expected to be selected in the draft include Baylor's VJ Edgecombe and BYU's Egor Demin but plenty of other conference stars 12 stars will be back to dominate arguably the top conference in college basketball. CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein recently posted the Big 12's updated returning scoring numbers for the upcoming season. As is the case for football, returning production is a strong indicator of which teams will have success in the upcoming season. Despite the Big 12 sending the second-most teams to the 2025 NCAA tournament, the conference does not have a single team with more than 50% of their 2024-25 scoring returning. The transfer portal has complicated returning production due to several high-profile teams turning to the portal to replace departing stars. However, the stat still has value when looking at general preseason rankings and predictions. Here are Rothstein's returning scoring numbers for every Big 12 team entering 2025. Big 12 programs saw a lot of turnover following the 2024-25 seasons with no team returning more than half of their scoring production. Houston was the national runner-up, but even the Cougars won't have the same squad that nearly won the title last season. On the surface, these percentages would suggest more parity in the conference and perhaps more chances for sleeper teams to make a run. However, the transfer does deflate these numbers as top teams consistently add high-profile scorers that would not count towards returning production. Iowa State looks like a legit Big 12 contender after going 25-10 last season and Houston is not going anywhere setting the conference up for another hotly contested season. Some teams will be happy that their returning production is lower if they are looking to rebuild after a down year, Colorado, Arizona State and Oklahoma State are a few examples. Shedeur Sanders cited for speeding twice in June amid Browns QB battle
Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders was cited by police on Tuesday morning for driving 101 mph, 40 mph over the speed limit. It turns out that Tuesday's infraction was not his first. According to Medina, Ohio court records Sanders received another citation in June. The first came on June 5 in Brunswick, Ohio where the former Colorado star quarterback was cited for going 91 mph in a 65 mph zone. Browns officials told that Sanders' "is taking care of the tickets." Sanders is squarely in the middle of a hard fought quarterback competition. He has pefermored well during spring practices, but only being a fifth round pick makes any negative feel like it could cost him a chance at playing meaningful football. At a Thursday afternoon charity softball game, Sanders attempted to apologize for his actions admitting, "I've made some wrong choices." The half-hearted apology does not seem like a concerted effort to improve his off field actions, but in the grand scheme of "things"incidents" a speeding ticket is very low on the totem pole. Whether Sanders learns from his two speeding tickets and fully owns up to his mistakes remains to be seen, but any off-field transgression will be under the spotlight considering his name and already highly publicizied first few months in the NFL.
