Train damaged and stuck after hitting tree
A train has been damaged after hitting a tree on a railway line in Kent.
Southeastern said one of its trains was "unable to move" after the incident in Wye, near Ashford.
The rail operator added it had begun running a replacement bus service between Canterbury West and Ashford stations as trains were unable to use the line.
The BBC understands no injuries have been reported.
Network Rail said it was "working as quickly as we can" to reopen the line.
Southeastern said a rescue train had travelled to the incident to take passengers onboard to Ashford, and that it expected disruption to continue until at least 14:30 BST.
The collision occurred at about 10:30.

Residents could finally get better access to train station that's bears village's name
While it bears the name of Dolgarrog - the Conwy Valley station has never really been particularly accessible to people in the village. The station is situated on the opposite side of the Afon Conwy from Dolgarrog with a rough and sometimes boggy track also in the way. This contributed to it serving just 612 passengers in 2017/18 - the lowest of any station in Wales that year. The situation was compounded in 2021 when the pipe bridge over the river closed to the public due to concerns over its condition. There were fears it would never reopen. But a campaign was launched, backed by Aberconwy MS Janet Finch-Saunders and others, to get a crossing back. This eventually secured funding of £1.2m from Dwr Cymru and a £735,000 Welsh Government grant for Conwy County Borough Council to restore the bridge. But the paths from the village mean it's still not exactly a convenient option for locals or tourists wanting to use the Conwy Valley Line. Now though Conwy council has secured additional Welsh Government active travel funds for improvements to the existing Public Rights of Way, which connects Dolgarrog Railway Station to the B5106. The works are to be undertaken this financial year. The Local Authority is currently working on access agreements with interested landowners and will be aiming to undertake a public engagement exercise soon. Once the access agreements are in place, they will push forward with a procurement and construction phase programme. This would improve the path that emerges near the former Lord Newborough pub on the B5106. There are hopes that more money in the future could develop a link to Clark Street, which comes out in the centre of the village. MS Janet Finch-Saunders said: "Since the horrendous decision by Welsh Water to permanently close Dolgarrog Bridge, I have been pleased to lead the group of stakeholders who have succeeded to convince the water company to make a massive U-turn, and secure a £1.9m investment. 'As part of that stakeholder group it was a pleasure to work with representatives of both Dolgarrog Community Council and Conwy County Borough Council. By working together we have delivered for our community. "In fact, I have kept up the pressure and am delighted that funding has been secured to build an active travel route between Dolgarrog and the railway station this financial year. A special thanks goes to the Local Authority officials who submitted the application and are working on the plans going forward. 'Whilst my understanding is that this phase of the development will see the route reach Dolgarrog by the old Lord Newborough pub, there remains and ambition to develop a route along Clark Street in the future, but that would require further funding. 'The most import point of all is that the bridge, which following our united community campaign, Welsh Water has thankfully invested significantly in, will now have high standard accessible paths leading to it. Penang's LRT Mutiara Line to begin construction in Aug — 21 stations across island & mainland
Penang's public transport scene is currently dominated by Rapid Penang buses, which cover a wide network across both the island and the mainland. You'll also find convenient alternatives like Grab for e-hailing, trishaws for short trips, and a free city bus called CAT that loops around George Town. But change is on the horizon. Come Aug 2025, Penang will begin building its first-ever metro system — the LRT Mutiara Line. Previously referred to as the Bayan Lepas LRT Project, this upgraded version gets its name from Penang's nickname, 'Pearl of the Orient,' and is all about easing traffic while better connecting the island and beyond. Spanning 29.5km with 21 planned stations, the LRT Mutiara Line will link key destinations across the island and mainland. It'll run between the new Penang South Reclamation Island A (also called Silicon Island) and major spots like KOMTAR and Penang Sentral. Trains will alternate routes, making it easier to get around without adding to road congestion. This LRT will feature Park & Ride options, transit-oriented development (TOD) zones, and smooth last-mile connections to support Penang's growth in a greener, more structured way. It'll even connect to important points like the Penang International Airport and Sungai Nibong Bus Terminal. Two main depots will support operations once construction of LRT Mutiara Line kicks off. With a maximum capacity of 10.9K passengers per hour in each direction, each train will carry at least 405 people — and select stations will include more than 1K parking spots for both cars and motorcycles. Expect about a 45-minute ride from Silicon Island to KOMTAR, and 49 minutes to Penang Sentral — a small price for skipping traffic and enjoying a more connected, sustainable Penang. While progress might appear slow in the early stages, it's worth noting that the project is scheduled for completion only by 31 Dec 2031 to give it a long but carefully planned timeline while ensuring everything runs smoothly. 'My family can make it, but I'm also aware that Switzerland is a very expensive country,' Stanway said. 'Even just for flights and hotels, then the cost of living there is extremely high, so we understand the demand it is on fans. A lot of us are putting our hands in our pockets to make sure that our families can get over there. We would love to see as many fans as possible and we want to thank them in advance.' It is understood that all 23 squad members defending England's European title next month receive a sum to help towards travel for family and friends. The figure is similar to that made available for the players who went to Australia for the World Cup in2023 and is no less than the men's team players receive. That money can be used for travel and accommodation and the Football Association has a travel service for bookings and guidance. 'It will be a bit difficult for families who are staying out for the whole tournament,' said the midfielder Ella Toone, 'but I'll always help my family be out there and make memories ... and make sure they're eating.' It creates an energy that we not only felt during the Euros but we still felt it in Australia, regardless of the time difference.' For Stanway, making the tournament in Switzerland was not guaranteed after she had surgery on a lateral collateral ligament injury in January. She did not play for Bayern Munich for the remainder of the season but joined England for their Nations League fixtures against Portugal and Spain in late May and early June and played 60 minutes across the two games. 'I have no fears, I actually feel very ready,' Stanway said. 'I probably feel more ready than if I'd played a jam-packed season. I've learned a lot in this process and the injury wasn't a bad thing to happen to me. It was my first injury in 10 years in professional football, so I've not done too badly.' How did it help? 'It gave me that time away from football to work on the weaknesses in the gym and just get a completely different mindset. Going in everyday for rehab is completely different to turning up every day for training and I just feel like I got stronger and stronger every day, surrounded by good people. Advertisement 'I think it's evident that I worked hard in the rehab process because I don't feel like I've lost anything. I've come back and I'm moving well, I've been able to pick up things naturally, and that's all because of the hard work in the rehab.' Stanway also accelerated her new hobby while injured: tattooing. Her left leg became the focus. 'I've got a lot of new tattoos; that kind of became my zen. As soon as I pressed that button, my headspace was fully clear. All I had to do was perfect the thing that was exactly in front of me going on my left leg. 'My brace was on my right leg so I couldn't tattoo it, so I ended up coming across and doing my left leg. It was the only place I could reach.'
