SuperKitties, Little Mermaid and Others Renewed by Disney — Sam Witch Gets Series Order

The SuperKitties have more purrrrfect adventures ahead, it was announced this weekend at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
Disney Jr.'s Spidey and His Amazing Friends — which launches Season 4 on June 16, and was already picked up for Season 5 — has been renewed for a Season 6, Disney Branded Television announced at Annecy. Additionally, SuperKitties has scored a Season 4, while both Disney Jr. Ariel – The Little Mermaid and RoboGobo will get second seasons.

On the original shorts front, Disney Jr. Ariel – The Little Mermaid: Songs From the Crystal Cavern and Playdate With Winnie the Pooh scored renewals, while new offerings include Me & Mickey: In the Clubhouse+ (an extension of the Me & Mickey Disney Jr. vlog series) and the holiday sing-alongs Mickey & Minnie's Holiday Songs: Halloween and Mickey & Minnie's Holiday Songs: Christmas.
Disney Branded Television also announced green lights for the new Disney Jr. series Sam Witch (ha, it sounds like 'sandwich!'), which follows the adventures of a young girl learning the ins and outs of being a witch, with the support of her family, friends and magical pets, and the 2026 Disney+/Disney Jr. holiday special Dasher, a full-length CG special inspired by the bestselling picture book Dasher: How a Brave Little Doe Changed Christmas Forever (from author and illustrator Matt Tavares).

5 Marvel movies worth watching again before 'Ironheart' comes out next week

For anyone who knows the name Ryan Coogler, "Ironheart" on Disney Plus is a show you're going to want to watch. Debuting next week, it looks like a light-hearted origin story for the character first introduced in "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," named Riri Williams. But Executive Producer Coogler has been on a roll lately. He not only directed that 2022 film but also the well-received "Sinners," which already has Oscar buzz. Plus, he directed the original "Black Panther" as it can be hard to keep all of these Disney shows straight if you haven't watched the recent Marvel films since they came out a few years ago. To help, here's a homework assignment. These five movies will serve as a refresher for the Black Panther superhero and help prepare you for going back to Wakanda when "Ironheart" comes out June 24. Each movie is also available to watch on Disney Plus making this assignment super easy. (Note: These movies are presented in the order of which ones are worth watching first, starting with the two main "Black Panther" films, but you can watch them in any order.) The film that started it all, "Black Panther" from 2018, starred the late Chadwick Boseman as a superhero gifted with super strength and even more super technology. He wore the Vibranium Panther Suit and had claws that could rip through just about anything. The most interesting character trait with Black Panther, though, was that he was also the King of Wakanda. That means there are elements of a monarchy to the series and a deep family dynamic. It's not quite clear how Riri Williams, as Ironheart, will factor into that equation. Once you are done watching "Black Panther," the next best option is to (re)watch "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" because it introduces the Ironheart character. We first meet Riri Williams as an MIT genius experimenting with vibranium technology. The film, released in 2022, was partly an origin story for Ironheart — even if the main story arc was more about the character Shuri becoming a new iteration of Black Panther. We also first meet the villain, Namor. Released way back in 2016, but still one of the best Marvel movies to date, "Captain America: Civil War" introduced Black Panther with a compelling backstory. Chadwick Boseman's character T'Challa is introduced in Civil War as the Prince of Wakanda. His father, King T'Chaka, is part of a delegation intending to sign the Sokovia Accords to put restrictions on the Avengers. He is killed when a bomb explodes, setting the stage for T'Challa to become not only King of Wakanda but also the Black Panther to honor his late father. After Black Panther came out in February 2019, the superhero emerged as a key player in "Avengers: Infinity War" that April. (It's hard to remember both films were released only months apart.) Fortunately, that meant it was also easy to remember Black Panther — who ends up leading a massive battle against Thanos and his army. In case any of us need a reminder (and this is a major spoiler alert): Black Panther was part of the blip in "Infinity War." His character is restored in "Avengers: Endgame," but due to the real-life passing of Chadwick Boseman, the Black Panther mantle is passed to his on-screen sister Shuri in "Wakanda Forever. "That's a good backstory to keep in mind. "Ironheart" doesn't focus on Shuri, but we're sure there are flashbacks or references throughout the show. That's because Black Panther is a protector of sorts for Ironheart as Riri Williams learns the ropes.

Dominique Thorne Teases Ironheart's Possible Return in AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY and SECRET WARS — GeekTyrant

Dominique Thorne isn't officially on the cast list for Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars … yet, but the Ironheart star just dropped a sly hint that Riri Williams may be suiting up alongside Earth's Mightiest Heroes after all. In a recent chat with The Direct, Thorne was asked point-blank about her potential return in Marvel's upcoming mega-event films. She didn't confirm anything outright, MCU actors are famously trained to keep quite, but her response was telling: 'Oh, you know, what can I say? The odds might be in our favor. Who knows? We'll see. We'll see.' Fans have been wondering how, or if, the Disney+ characters will play into the multiversal madness. So far, the official Doomsday cast is light on streaming heroes, even as rumors swirl with names like Kate Bishop, Kamala Khan, and Billy Maximoff in the mix. It seems only a matter of time before Marvel pulls the trigger on the next-gen team-up… whether it's Young Avengers aka The Champions. With Ironheart finally gearing up for release, Riri Williams could be being set for a big leap from solo armor-builder to universe-saving genius. Thorne also commented on the show's new trailer and the unexpected fusion of tech and mysticism at play: 'I think we've got little tastes and teases of that previously. Throughout, you know, the phases that have led us here. But this, absolutely, to me, feels like new territory in terms of how tech and magic can merge, how they can work together, how they might clash.' That blend could make Riri a key player in the coming cosmic-scale conflicts. After all, if Secret Wars follows the comics even loosely, a Stark-level mind fused with magical tech will fit right into the story Marvel wants to tell. Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters December 18, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027. Both are in the hands of Joe and Anthony Russo, returning to the MCU after delivering some of the biggest hits in franchise history. The Russos shared after their SDCC panel: 'Being able to create stories and explore characters within the Marvel Universe fulfilled a life-long dream of ours, and we discovered a powerful connection with audiences in each film that we made. We're thrilled to collaborate once again with Kevin, Lou and the entire Marvel team to bring this epic adventure in storytelling to new and surprising places for both the fans and ourselves.' It will be interesting to see if Riri Williams does show up in the next Avengers movies. There's a lot more characters that have yet to be announced, so it is possible.

In ‘Ironheart,' Dominique Thorne Suits Up for the Spotlight

It isn't a hard question: Where do you live? But Dominique Thorne, the 27-year-old star of Marvel's new 'Ironheart' mini-series, needed a moment to answer because, well, honestly, she wasn't sure. She had just gotten back from two weeks in Japan. Before that, she spent seven months in Thailand, where she 'ate my way across the country.' ('As a pescatarian, it was like a dream come true,' she said.) And now she was about to embark on a press tour to promote the six-part 'Ironheart,' premiering Tuesday on Disney+, in which she reprises the role of Riri Williams, the brilliant young inventor and M.I.T. student from the 2022 movie 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.' That tour will take her from New York, where she was born, to Los Angeles, where she holed up for a few months during the pandemic, to Atlanta, where parts of the show were filmed and where her parents and two younger brothers live. 'I'm at the point where I'm thinking now about where I want to settle down,' she said on a Monday afternoon last month, her big brown eyes sparkling as she settled in to a velour couch in the lobby of the Hotel Chelsea, in Manhattan. (For now, her mailing address is in New York.) She pulled an oversize Malcolm X sweatshirt over a sleeveless white top and green cargo pants.
