Burt, now 26, caused a stir in Glasgow when he sealed a move to Celtic just months after he was released by the Ibrox club. He started his career in the Celtic academy system before heading to Rangers in 2014. Gers fended off an audacious bid by the Hoops to sign the player a year later, just months before his 17th birthday. He went on to make three first team appearances for the Light Blues before his eventual exit and return to the Hoops. Burt is no stranger to brave moves as he also crossed the Dublin divide TWICE - from Bohemians to Shamrock Rovers and then Shelbourne. Now in Northern Ireland with Glentoran, Burt spoke to the Daily Record about his struggles after swapping the Glasgow giants. Asked about abuse, Burt said: 'Grief? I've faced a fair bit of it. 'After going from Rangers to Celtic earlier in my career we played Rangers at Auchenhowie and someone on Twitter quoted something about 'who's stabbing him?' 'That was pretty shocking. I still have the screenshots on my phone. I just look at it and laugh and show people now. But it's not right. 'When I went to Shamrock Rovers from Bohemians, we played them at Bohs' ground Dalymount and someone shouted 'even your mum and dad hate you'. What's holding up Nygren Plus Kuhn & Maeda price tags REVEALED Celtic transfer special 'One of the worst ones was somebody wishing cancer on family. That definitely makes you stop and think 'yeah, okay that's a wee bit too far'. 'I've put stories up on social media and had people reply calling me a rat and a snake. Everybody gets stuff like that. It still doesn't make it right. 'At first it might be a bit hard for my family seeing all that kind of stuff. But when they started to realise that I wasn't affected by it then they had nothing to worry about. 3 'There were stories when I was leaving Bohs for Rovers and fans were making stuff up that I was being forced out because I was in the pub too much. Just absolute rubbish. 'It's getting worse, social media. It's just what people do. There's nothing stopping them. You see what Trent Alexander-Arnold got leaving Liverpool. "He might not be too bothered because he's heading to Real Madrid. But I bet he still sees it. 'I left Rangers in 2019 because I wasn't enjoying my football. I got that love for it back at Celtic." Rio Ferdinand's transfer message to Jack Grealish as Kevin de Bruyne helps out

Rio Ferdinand reckons Jack Grealish should consider a move abroad after being told there is no future for him at Manchester City with Kevin De Bruyne pushing for a switch to Napoli Rio Ferdinand reckons Jack Grealish should look beyond the Premier League after being told he has no future at Manchester City England winger Grealish was left behind by Pep Guardiola for the Club World Cup and is currently exploring a move away from the Etihad having been demoted to a sporadic role last season. And having recently been linked with Napoli, who have just brought in Kevin De Bruyne as a free agent, Ferdinand reckons Grealish should consider getting his 'feet in the sand' of Saudi Arabia. ‌ "I would advise Jack Grealish to play where he will be happy," Ferdinand said on his YouTube channel. ‌ "He needs to find happiness with himself playing football but also within a team. I don't think any players are happy when they're not playing, especially the player that's used to being the star man in their team since he was a kid. "He'd have been star man so to think that he's now not even being considered for big moments and big games… he needs to go where he's going to play and he's going to find happiness. "Because at the end of your career, yes you do want trophies, but at the same time you want to be happy doing that, you want to feel a part of it. I want to see that smile and that swagger and that enjoyment factor when he plays football again and I don't think we've seen it for a while.' Ferdinand added that returning to boyhood club Aston Villa but be a good move – but he would have Morgan Rogers for competition. And with former team-mate De Bruyne already looking to pull strings in Naples, urging his new club to strike a deal for the winger, a switch to the Serie A champions is also a reasonable shout alongside Saudi. 'Villa would be great for him but if they don't sell anyone where does he fit in?' Ferdinand added. 'I would like to see it where he gets a bit of a free role. If there's a team out there that can afford to play a structure where he goes back to that almost like a No.10 or one of the eight positions that's allowed to just roam a bit. 'That's what I would do with Jack Grealish because I think if you play him more centrally and you just give him a bit of freedom, like we saw when he was at Villa, the kid can unlock. 'If I'm him, you know where I'd go? Saudi. If I'm Jack Grealish I'm going Saudi, I'm getting my feet in the sand. I'd love to see him in Napoli, that atmosphere. Marseille with Roberto de Zerbi, where I know the fans will love him.'

Kevin De Bruyne tells Antonio Conte to sign England star in blow to Man Utd

Kevin De Bruyne has told Antonio Conte to bring his former Manchester City teammate Jack Grealish to Napoli in a potential transfer blow to Manchester United. De Bruyne's move to Serie A champions Napoli was confirmed earlier this month following the Belgian's exit from Manchester City. The 33-year-old established himself as one of the greatest midfielders in Premier League history during his decade-long spell at the Etihad Stadium. Despite already signing Man City legend De Bruyne, Napoli have expressed interest in signing a number of other Premier League stars this summer. Conte is keen to strengthen his squad to boost Napoli's chances of defending the Serie A title and competing in the Champions League. Manchester City's Grealish and Manchester United's Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho have all emerged as targets for the Italian club. Sancho and Garnacho are believed to be keen on move to Naples after being deemed surplus to requirements by Old Trafford boss Ruben Amorim. Ex-Chelsea loanee Sancho was hoping to earn a permanent move to Stamford Bridge but the Blues instead paid £5m in compensation to send him back to United. Garnacho has also been linked with Chelsea after being put up for sale by decision-makers at Manchester United. But Napoli are only expected to sign one of Sancho, Garnacho or Grealish and De Bruyne is making the case for his old teammate. According to The Sun, Conte has been asking De Bruyne about Grealish's credentials and has received a glowing reference from the Belgium international. Man City spent a record-breaking £100m to sign Grealish from Aston Villa in 2021 but the 29-year-old is expected to leave following a frustrating 2024-25 campaign. Grealish struggled for game-time under Pep Guardiola and was then left out of Manchester City's Club World Cup squad. Tottenham are believed to be the current favourites to sign Grealish but De Bruyne is doing everything he can to bring him to Naples. Grealish accepts a move is necessary to revive his career and boost his chances of being included in Thomas Tuchel's England squad for next summer's World Cup. Asked about Grealish's future at the Etihad Stadium last week, Guardiola said: 'He had a conversation with the club and [we] decided [what was for] the best. 'Jack is an exceptional player. The only reason why he didn't play last season is of course my decision. We decide that he has to play. The club was honest, he was honest. 'Incredible love and respect [for him] and we decide the best is to stay [behind] and have a place [at home] that he can feel like he can come back to be the player like he was in the year of the treble or all his career in Aston Villa. More Trending 'Without him it would have been more difficult in the year of the treble [2022-2023]. The fact is in the last two seasons he didn't play much minutes. 'He has to come back to play and have the butterflies in his stomach that he can play every three days and show again the quality he has.' Asked if believed Grealish's future lied away from Man City, Guardiola added: 'I don't know. 'Now we decide don't come here and what happens I don't know in the end. If we don't find [another solution], he's a player for Man City and he will be back.' For more stories like this, check our sport page.
