The Ministry of Labour has announced that the annual midday work ban will come into effect starting Sunday, June 15, and will continue until September 15, 2025. During this period, outdoor work under direct sunlight will be prohibited between 12:00 noon and 4:00 PM.
The decision, issued under Ministerial Order No. (3) of 2013 and amended by Order No. (11) of 2025, aims to protect workers from heat-related illnesses and injuries as summer temperatures and humidity levels rise.
As part of the regulation, any company found violating the rule will face legal consequences under Article (192) of the Labour Law (Law No. 36 of 2012). Penalties include imprisonment of up to three months, a fine ranging from BD 500 to BD 1,000, or both.
To ensure smooth enforcement, the Ministry has conducted educational workshops for workplace safety supervisors and distributed awareness materials in multiple languages. These include guidance on avoiding heat exhaustion and understanding the risks of direct sun exposure.
The Ministry is also encouraging public cooperation. Citizens and residents who witness any violations of the midday work ban are urged to report them via the dedicated hotline: 32265727.
This seasonal ban reflects Bahrain's commitment to aligning with international labour standards and prioritizing the health and safety of its workforce.
