Isaiah Adams appears to be on track to be Arizona Cardinals' starting right guard
Isaiah Adams appears to be on track to be Arizona Cardinals' starting right guard After starting the final five games of last season, the 2024 third-round draft pick seems to be the plan at right guard.
One of the positional questions for the Arizona Cardinals in their starting lineup is at right guard. Will Hernandez remains a free agent and perhaps could return after he has fully recovered from his torn ACL, but we do appear to have some answers for the position.
Manning the first-team right guard position is 2024 third-round pick Isaiah Adams. While head coach Jonathan Gannon has not said that specifically, we do have references to it.
Starting center Hjalte Froholdt, who spoke to reporters after Wednesday's practice, referred to the offensive line's need to be consistent, whether it is with "Evan and Isaiah right now, or if someone else comes in there."
Evan is, of course, Evan Brown, their starting left guard. Isaiah would be Isaiah Adams.
Froholdt is happy with what Adams has done so far. Adams started the final five games of the season at right guard, and Froholdt noted how important that experience was for him.
"I think Zay has done a tremendous job," he said. "I think he got thrown a little bit into the fire last year, and what better way than just to get tossed in there. It's the best. You make some mistakes and learn from it, so I think that having those opportunities last year has made him such a better player this year."
Froholdt continued.
"He's a big strong dude. It's nice being in there with him. He plays long. He's smart. He's good to communicate. He understands it, so it's been really good to see what Isaiah has been doing so far."
While one might say that it is only minicamp, this is true, and things could change. However, In each of the last two offseasons under Gannon as head coach, they have identified their first-team offensive line in the offseason program to get them working together with consistency and chemistry.
In 2023, when left guard was a question, Elijah Wilkinson was with the first team and started the games when he was healthy. Last year, after they signed Brown and it was uncertain where he would play after being a starting center and starting right guard for the previous three seasons for the Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks, he was put in immediately at left guard and he played almost every snap of the season there.
So having Adams at right guard now is a good sign that he is pegged as the team's starter for the regular season.

Arizona Cardinals OL Kelvin Beachum says team must find a way to make playoffs in 2025
Kelvin Beachum says there is no room for excuses for the Cardinals in 2025. They have the talent and now have to perform. Entering the 2025 season, the Arizona Cardinals find themselves in a critical moment. Head coach Jonathan Gannon led a competitive and scrappy four-win team in 2023. In 2024, after being atop the NFC West last in the season, they faded and finished with an eight-win season. This is the year they should take the next step and make the postseason. Fans feel it is the year. Coaches feel it is the year. Offensive lineman Kelvin Beachum, entering his 14th NFL season and sixth with the Cardinals, didn't shy away from the topic. Appearing on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM during minicamp, he didn't shy away from what many would be afraid to say, calling it "the elephant in the room." "We've got to get things done here this year, and that's just the nature of the NFL," he said. "This is a performance-based business. This is year three of this regime. Playoffs are long overdue in some regards, and we gotta find a way." Beachum said it is something players need to be on board about. "You've got to talk about it, he said. "You can't be like, 'oh, we don't have this piece. We don't have this piece. We lack in here.' No, no, it is time out for all those things. "What is important is putting ourselves in a position to clock a ticket to be in the dance and then see what happens from there." He believes the Cardinals have the team to be able to do that this year, and he praised what general manager Monti Ossenfort did in the offseason, calling it "a superb job." "What about the offensive line? That box is checked. Well, what about the quarterback? Box is checked. What about the running back? Box is checked. Receivers, box is checked. DBs, box is checked. And then you spent a ton of money on the defensive line, and you drafted defensive line and you drafted corners. So like, what are we talking about?" He said the Cardinals can't use excuses for potential needs, whether it is at linebacker or a "somebody to take the top off" at receiver. "We've got to find a way to get it done. We've got to find a way to put ourselves in playoff contention." Beachum understands the urgency the team must have. He is entering his 14th season. He doesn't know how many seasons he has left. Will the Cardinals be up for the task? We will see early on how focused they are when the season begins. Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray should be No. 2 in franchise history in 2 stats in 2025
With a decent season, Murray can move in to second place all-time in team history in passing yards and touchdown passes. Quarterback Kyler Murray enters his seventh NFL season in 2025 and has been one of the Arizona Cardinals' most productive quarterbacks in their history. He ranks third in franchise history in passing yards and touchdown passes. He should move into the No. 2 spot this coming season. In his career, Murray has 19,498 career passing yards and 115 touchdown passes. No. 2 on the franchise all-time list in both categories is Neil Lomax, who had 22,771 passing yards and 136 touchdown passes. For Murray to move into second place and pass Lomax, he will need 3,274 passing yards. Outside of 2022 and 2023 when he missed 15 games between the two seasons because of his torn ACL, he has surpassed that passing total. He needs 22 touchdown passes in 2025 to pass Lomax. He had 21 last season and 26 and 24 in 2020 and 2021. How much more does he need to be first all-time in team history? Jim Hart, who played for the Cardinals from 1966-1983, had 34,639 passing yards and 209 touchdown passes. Murray needs 15,142 passing yards, which would require an average of 3,786 passing yards over four seasons. He needs 95 touchdown passes, which would require nearly 24 touchdown passes a year on average over four years. Those are certainly achievable goals, but it will mean that he not only plays well statistically but also leads the Cardinals to the postseason. Without that, it will be tough for him to be their starter for another four seasons. But as for passing Lomax, that should happen this year. He is already No. 2 in franchise history in pass completions with 1,864. Hart is No. 1 with 2,590. Rams news: Tutu Atwell, Hawaii karaoke and other stories for Cardinals fans
A look at what has been going on with the Cardinals' NFC West rival Rams. We have made it through another week in the NFL offseason, and that means we will check in with the Arizona Cardinals' NFC West rivals. What is new with the LA Rams, San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks? Here are a few stories about the Rams from the last week that Cardinals fans should know. Tutu time? The Rams cut receiver Cooper Kupp and saw Demarcus Robinson leave in free agency. Former second-round draft pick Tutu Atwell now has the opportunity to take over as the Rams' No. 3 receiver. Head coach Sean McVay believes that Atwell is "ready to ascend." Rookie TE compared to Rams star The Rams drafted tight end Terrance Ferguson in the second round. He is the highest-drafted tight end by the Rams ever. He was compared to one of the Rams' greats from the past, Ernie Conwell. Rams concerned about LT Alaric Jackson The Rams re-signed Jackson but he has blood clots in his legs for the second time. This leaves the Rams with "some question marks" about whether he will be ready to play in September. They signed former Cardinals first-round pick D.J. Humphries soon after they learned of Jackson's condition. Karaoke in Hawaii The Rams held their minicamp in Maui last week. Apparently, they had a little fun, which included some karaoke singing. Stafford can move up all-time lists Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is 10th all-time in both career passing yards and career touchdown passes. By the end of 2025, he could move up three spots in passing yards and, with a special season, two in touchdown passes.
