Maoist killed in Bijapur encounter was a mid-day meal cook in Chhattisgarh govt school, say Basta police
RAIPUR:
One of the seven Maoists killed during an anti-Naxal operation earlier this month in Bijapur district of Bastar division worked as a cook in a govt school, police revealed on Saturday.
Seven Maoists were killed in multiple encounters by a joint team of security personnel during an anti-Naxal operation in Indravati National Park area of Bijapur between June 4 and June 7. While one of them was identified as Mahesh Kudiyam, who served as an active party member of the national park area committee of Maoists, it was later known that he was working as an assistant cook at a primary school in Irpagutta village too.
The matter came to light on Saturday when few villagers from Irpagutta claimed before a scribe that Kudiyam was not associated with the Maoist organisation, rather worked as a cook in a village school for preparing mid-day meal. It was found that Kudiyam also got remuneration in his bank account and was appointed by the village school management committee. He was paid the salary till Marc 2025 and is survived by his wife and seven children.

Police had to then issue a statement saying that Kudiyam was a CPI (Maoists) party member and had clear links with the group.
'The circumstances under which Mahesh Kudiyam came in contact with senior Maoist leaders including Central Committee member Gautam and State Committee member Bhaskar, are currently under investigation. A thorough, impartial, and professional inquiry is being conducted into all aspects of the case,' a statement issued by Bastar police said.
During the first fortnight of June 2025, a series of intensive anti-Naxal operations were conducted by security forces in National Park Area of Bijapur district. Following exchanges of fire between security personnel and Maoists, the bodies of seven cadres were recovered.
Among the deceased were two senior Maoist commanders Narasimha Chalam alias Sudhakar - a Central Committee member of CPI (Maoist) carrying cash reward of Rs 40 lakh and Bhaskar Rao, a State Committee member who carried Rs 20 lakh reward.
One of the other recovered bodies was identified as Mahesh Kudiyam who worked as a cook and continued his association with Maoists. He carried Rs 1 lakh cash reward.
Police have once again urged all individuals directly or indirectly associated with the banned organisation to immediately sever all such ties. 'Continued association with this extremist outfit poses a serious threat not only to public safety and regional peace but also to the lives and future of those involved,' police said.

Missing 13-Year-Old Boy Traced To Instagram Influencer Event, Reunited With Family
New Delhi: A 13-year-old boy who went missing from central Delhi left his parents anxious and police scrambling, only to be found the next morning at an Instagram influencer meetup in east Delhi's Anand Vihar. While his mother was busy with chores, he quietly left home, spent the night outside and headed to the event the next morning, drawn by his interest in Haryanvi rap and social media fame. "The boy left home around 5 pm on Saturday without informing anyone and did not return till late night, prompting his anxious parents to report the matter to police," DCP (central) Nidhin Valsan said. A case of kidnapping under Section 137 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was subsequently registered at the Prasad Nagar police station. Given the boy's age and the concern of possible abduction or online luring, multiple police teams were formed. The teams launched an immediate and wide-ranging search both on the ground and across digital platforms. "While field units checked vacant buildings and alerted local informers, another team began monitoring the boy's online activity. The information of the missing child was shared with informers, but no clue was found. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo However, during technical surveillance, a team discovered a fresh story posted from the boy's Instagram handle, indicating he was at RCB Banquet Hall in Anand Vihar," DCP Valsan said. In Rajasthan IAS transfer list, officer removed on bribery charges gets new responsibility
JAIPUR: In a major administrative reshuffle in Rajasthan, the Bhajan Lal government has transferred 62 IAS officers late on Sunday night. The transfer list issued by the Personnel Department contains the names of many IAS officers who were stuck in the same post for years, including some who had been given responsibility in that department during the Gehlot government. In the list, 21 IAS officers have been given additional charge, while collectors and magistrates of many districts have also been changed. The most shocking name in this long-awaited transfer list is that of Hanuman Mal Dhaka, an IAS officer who last year, was accused of demanding a bribe of Rs 25 lakh in a land conversion case. The ACB had arrested him but now Dhaka, who was removed on bribery charges, has been given a new responsibility. The Bhajan government had APO-ed him in the bribery case, but the Personnel Department has now posted him as Director, Departmental Investigation. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) had registered a case against the then District Collector of Dudu Hanuman Mal Dhaka, and Halka Patwari Hansraj for demanding a bribe of Rs 25 lakh in exchange for land conversion. The ACB had raided the Dak Bungalow in Dudu and the Tehsil office. However, the bribe amount was not taken after they realised that the ACB had caught on. But the ACB verification made it clear that Hanuman Mal and the Patwari had demanded the bribe.
