The Hindu22-05-2025

The Bulk Drug Park and the steel plant proposed in Anakapalli district will create thousands of jobs, Home Minister V. Anitha has said, adding that the development and welfare are going hand-in-hand in the NDA government's tenure.
The Home Minister was speaking at the TDP's Mini-Mahanadu organised at Payakaraopeta, for which a large number of people gathered. The event also saw the participation of Excise Minister Kollu Ravindra, MLAs, other people's representatives and party cadres.
Ms. Anitha said that the people of Payakaraopeta gave her a huge majority while electing her as an MLA. She assured that every hardworking party worker would be recognised by the leadership.
Criticising former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Ms Anitha warned that the State would have been under chaos had he been returned to power. Countering the former CM's recent 'cinema' remarks, Ms Anitha said that the 'cinema' recently shown by the people of Andhra had served a lesson to him.
Leaders and workers who delivered outstanding service in Payakaraopeta constituency were felicitated.

Lalu Prasad symbol of corruption and 'Gabbar Singh of Bihar': Dy CM Samrat Choudhary

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Sunday attacked opposition RJD president Lalu Prasad , describing him as the "symbol of corruption" and the state's Gabbar Singh, the villain in the 1975 film 'Sholay'. Choudhary also claimed that the opposition party headed by Prasad, a former chief minister, would face a humiliating defeat in the assembly polls due later this year. "Lalu Prasad is the Gabbar Singh of Bihar. As long as he is alive and active in politics, people will be afraid of him. People of Bihar know that Lalu Prasad is the symbol of corruption," the deputy CM said while talking to reporters here. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like If You Eat Ginger Everyday for 1 Month This is What Happens Tips and Tricks Undo Prasad was convicted in fodder scam cases. He alleged that the RJD is full of criminals and the family of Prasad is full of corrupt people. Live Events "They (Lalu and his family) have looted Bihar. People of Bihar know about Lalu Prasad and his party. They will face a humiliating defeat in the coming assembly polls in the state," Choudhary said. Claiming that Bihar witnessed tremendous growth under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar , the deputy CM asserted that the state will be turned into an industrial hub between 2025 and 2030. "Opposition parties who are questioning about development should see the development of Patna Airport, Ganga Path, Patna-Buxar Road and Patna-Muzaffarpur Road. Several other infrastructural projects have also been completed by the NDA in Bihar' and others are on the verge of completion," he said. Asked about RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav's recent controversial statement calling Modi a 'pickpocket' and alleging that public funds are used to arrange the PM's rallies in the state, Choudhary said such comment showed his level. "I told it earlier also. Just like Amitabh Bachchan had 'Mera Baap Chor Hai' (my father is a thief) written on his hand in a Hindi movie, something similar is happening with Tejashwi." Soon after the PM's rally in Siwan on June 20, Yadav had alleged that the NDA has been spending the Bihar government's money for the programme and "this is nothing but pickpocketing".

New twist to man's death during Jagan Mohan Reddy's rally in Andhra's Guntur

In a new twist to the case relating to the death of a person during YSRCP President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy's June 18 rally in Guntur district, a video has surfaced allegedly showing the victim coming under the wheels of the vehicle carrying the former chief minister. The video was widely shared on social media platforms since Saturday, but its veracity could not be confirmed. The video shows Jagan standing on the door of his vehicle to wave at his supporters who were vying with each other to shake hands with him, and a man coming under the front wheel of the vehicle. The police have not yet reacted to the video, while the YSR Congress Party has dismissed it as an attempt to tarnish the image of its leader. Cheeli Singaiah (65) died after a vehicle in Jagan Mohan Reddy's convoy hit him on the National Highway at Etukuru village in Guntur district. The former chief minister was organising a rally from Tadepalli in Guntur district to Sattenapalli in Palnadu district to console party functionary Korlakunta Nagamalleswara Rao, who died by suicide due to alleged harassment by police and TDP leaders. According to police, Cheeli Singaiah had come to participate in the rally. Guntur District Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar had confirmed the same day that Singaiah was hit by a vehicle in Jagan's convoy. The SP stated that after the accident, the convoy moved without stopping there and taking care of the victim. The police on the patrolling duty at that time found the victim and shifted him to a hospital, but the doctors declared him as brought dead. The police registered a case and took up an investigation. After the video surfaced showing the victim being allegedly hit by Jagan's car, state Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar said that the YSRCP leader was throwing people's lives to the wind for his publicity stunt. Meanwhile, the YSR Congress Party has dismissed the video as 'fabricated' and an attempt to tarnish the image of Jagan Mohan Reddy. YSRCP leader and former Minister Ambati Rambabu said on Sunday that the death of a person during YS Jagan's Palnadu tour has been blown out of proportion. 'Just after the incident, TDP and its friends started a media trial aimed at spreading lies against YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and went in circles to tell that it was his car that had hit the person, Singamayya, resulting in his death. The SP himself confirmed that it was not Jagan's vehicle but the one that accompanied the convoy that caused the mishap,' Rambabu told media persons. The former minister stated that Jagan is such a person that he would ensure that the injured person is admitted to the hospital before resuming the tour. 'TDP-friendly media has been busy doling out false stories to dilute the success of our leader's tour,' he said. Rambabu, who has been booked for violating conditions laid down by police for Jagan's visit, alleged that the coalition government is misusing police to settle political scores and indiscriminately file false cases violating all norms only to please their political bosses and resorting to intimidation besides working with the sole intention of trying to scuttle Jagan Mohan Reddy's public contact programmes. The former minister said such acts will only strengthen our resolve to fight against the government and warned TDP leadership that they would not lose heart but will fight back the repression and the attempts at character assassination of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy would result in a groundswell of support from the public.

Achievement belongs to every citizen, says Andhra CM over record-breaking Yoga event

Amaravati: After the Yogandhra event at Visakhapatnam on the 11th International Day of Yoga created a new Guinness Book of World Record, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said this achievement belongs to every citizen of Andhra Pradesh. A total of 3,00,105 people participated in the event organised by the Government of India. He was joined by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, and Central and state ministers. The event was held on a 28-km stretch from RK Beach to Bhogapuram. It broke the record set in 2023 in Surat, which hosted a Yoga session with 1.47 lakh participants at one location. Reacting to a tweet by Guinness World Records on Sunday, Chief Minister Naidu posted that this achievement belongs to every citizen of Andhra Pradesh. 'I thank each and every one of you who made this possible. Your enthusiasm and dedication have been truly inspiring. This record shows what we can accomplish when we unite with a purpose. Congratulations to everyone!' wrote Naidu. 'And we did it! Heartfelt thanks to all the participants, TDP leaders and cadre, government officials, and everyone who contributed to achieving this remarkable feat,' posted Human Resources Development Minister Nara Lokesh. The event marked the culmination of Yogandhra, a month-long initiative by the state government to create public awareness. The programme began at 6.30 a.m. on Saturday, but participants had started arriving as early as 2 a.m. According to officials, a QR code-based tracking system set a new standard for crowd management and real-time attendance accuracy. A day before the main event, Visakhapatnam set another Guinness World Record for the largest synchronised Surya Namaskar with 22,122 tribal students performing together. Additionally, the state achieved 21 recognitions in the World Book of Records, showcasing its organisational excellence and public enthusiasm. Nine Indian Naval warships participated in the main event, symbolising national unity and pride.
