Boy, 4, electrocuted in Bengaluru convention hall
Bengaluru: A four-year-old boy was electrocuted at a convention hall in Basaveshwara Nagar, west Bengaluru, Wednesday night.
The victim, Shivam MP, was the younger son of Pradeep Kumar and Deepa, a couple from Kempegowda Nagar.
The family had come to the convention hall to attend the marriage reception of Pradeep's relative when the tragedy occurred, police said.
According to Deepa, she found Shivam lying supine near the air cooler placed by the staircase at the hall. "Shocked on seeing him lying motionless, I ran towards him and held him by the shoulder. Then, electric shocks passed through me and I screamed. Someone disconnected the air cooler and pulled us away.
We immediately shifted Shivam to a nearby private hospital, but the doctors declared him dead on arrival," Deepa stated in her complaint to police.
The wires of the air cooler were exposed, and Shivam, who was playing with other children near it, accidentally stepped on the wire where it was exposed, police said. Deepa has blamed the electrician, manager, and owner of the hall for the tragedy and sought legal action against them.

During investigation, police found three more children had been playing in the vicinity at the time. "Fortunately, none of those three stepped on the wire," an investigating officer said. "We booked the electrician, manager, and owner of the convention hall under BNS Section 106 (causing death due to negligence). They were summoned to the station and arrested. They have been released on station bail."

In another incident, a 13-year-old girl was electrocuted inside her Hanchipura residence in Nelamangala Rural Friday evening. M Priyadarshini, a class 8 student, was electrocuted when she switched on the washing machine, investigators revealed.

The term "roid" in roid rage is an abbreviation of the word steroid and is used to symbolise the rage caused by steroid consumption. The steroids in this case are anabolic-androgenic steroids that help enhance athletic performance and improve lean muscles. A study published in the National Library of Medicine stated that the use of AAS leads to various symptoms such as irritability and unprovoked aggression sometimes referred to as "roid rage" Another study revealed that males who had used AAS at least once in their lives reported greater involvement in violent behaviour. The results of the study also revealed that steroid usage is linked with heightened levels of violent behaviours. Considering the way Amy was murdered with a hammer, her body having signs of abuse, her family reporting her husband's abuse, and the police suspecting her husband to be the killer, the entire incident could be studied with the angle of ROID rage. However, there's no official confirmation on this.
